gaming What is your favourite gaming console?

PC. I much prefer using a keyboard and mouse to using a gaming controller. The graphics are better, and instead of buying a whole new console when you want to upgrade, you can just buy the individual parts. Also, since I use a laptop, I can bring console-quality games with me on-the-go.

Since I can't afford current gen stuff, nor do I want any of it as the only genre they're constantly shoving in my face are FPS games that I only like a couple of it's no wonder why I only play from previous generations. Not to mention that playing online is pretty much mandatory, and some games can't even be played offline so once PSN or Xbox live is gone, you'll have nothing left to do other than throwing those games in the trash. And did I mention DLC? Disk Locked Content?

Also, these consoles break down in a few years, whereas my NES and Genesis are more than 20 years old and still work as good as new, I hate a lot of things about this console generation so I'd say NES.

PSX hands down. It's games full of fantasy and it's great library helped me through my childhood most difficult times and problems.

Oh and the nostalgia!

Zacharias, i'm like you. I cannot afford these new generation consoles and i prefer my old, trustworthy and unbreakable PSX.

I agree PS1 (or PSX whatever) was my favourite console. I still remember the old games I used to have...good times, good times.

Heck, I still have the old games, Tekken 2 is scratched to bits, and still works. xD

My favourite console has to be the gamecube. It had some pretty awesome games on it and the graphics were a huge improvement on the nintendo 64. One game in particular that was really awesome yet fairly undiscovered was custom robo. They made a sequel for the DS, but it was nowhere as good as the one on the gamecube.

Xbox 360 is my favorite!

I have found that my xbox has been going since they first came out! I've never had to fix it or anything!

I've found though that when my brother broke his that they're surprisingly easy to repair...

Favourite console? That's a toughie.. I think I'm going to go with the PlayStation 2, that was the console that really got me into video games.

Games like Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex, Dark Cloud and Devil May Cry were simply great fun games which I loved. This was back when I really didn't care much about gaming as an industry, it was all just pure entertainment.

At the moment though, gonna stick with my PC.

PC deffinitley, console restrictions are to tight currently. One thing I don't understand is why companies like Microsoft dont just keep consoles in step with other devices by giving them upgrades periodically, and make them easier to work on. Like when a console upgrade comes out sell whatever upgrade as a modular part. Like for instance, say there is a GPU upgrade for said hypothetical console. You would go to the store to buy the part thats in the 70- 80$ price range and follow installation instructions that are in a small pamphlet that comes with said part. Allow your console 10 mins or so to boot update and reconfigure itself and your done and ready to play your new faster and future-ready console.

This would also open up the doors for whatever company makes our hypothetical console to make larger profits and allow more competition, like in pc gaming. Sadly, I don't see this happening anytime soon. It would be more demanding on the seemingly already lazy console developers at microsoft or sony. So for now at least a console like this wont come from either of them. maybe some company will blindside us in the not-so distant future with something similar to what im talking about.

Just maybe.

It's still PS2, as nothing can compare to that thing. It combined some of the best things from the earlier generations, a bit of what was to come and ingenuity. Plus that game library? it was the perfect gaming machine.

I really cant guess mine at this time but as of now the Nintendo 64... Nostalgia of playing them old Mario and Zelda games and things you know?

Nintendo 64 all the way. My first console, I still play it. It's lasted me through multiple Xboxes that received the red ring of death.

Oh lord, too many. Let's see, personally I love the GameCube. Something about it always got to me. Even the start up screen just made my day. I might have sucked at it but I always played with my brother, and it's brought me memories I can never forget. It still works too, where as newer consoles seem to break a lot sooner. The controllers felt right, and there were never any problems. Some honorable mentions would be the N64 and the PS2. Not sure if the GameBoy Color and DS count, but I loved those too.

FORMER

SNES for nostalgia--because I love that system. Great games (Chrono Trigger, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Secret of Mana)[Actually, it's also the most sold system in Japan, still. A new game is coming out for it next year, believe it or not]

PS2 for obvious reasons. Great games on it.

Gameboy/advance (Just because you can get the GBC games on there still).

Current

PS3--just because I like the UI more on it than the Xbox--though both are pretty much the same thing minus one or two differences. I do like the XBL store more, though.

This may sound weird coming from a huge Nintendo fanboy, but I'd say the PS2. It had a lot of good games and didn't seem too overconcentrated in any specific type of game. There was enough of each slice for everyone. That's my opinion though. I'd say a close second would be the SNES. Then possibly the Wii (because it functions as a GameCube as well.)

I love my PC the most out of modern consoles simply because it can play the most games, do the most stuff, and all of those things. And when you think about it, it can literally do anything that another console can due to emulators and such.

But I must say, nothing compares to sitting down and playing my old N64 :)

So PC for functionality and N64 for nostalgia.

I personally like the PlayStation gaming consoles the most. My all time favorite would have to be the PS2 I haven't gotten a chance to try the PS3 yet. I'm sure it's pretty good.

Hands down i would have to say N64. Dont get me wrong, I have many more "modern" consoles and a sweet PC however no matter what nothing can top the great memories that had playing N64. Also I beileve it to be one of the most durable systems ever made. As testimony to that aspect, like I mentioned in a before on another thread, I lugged my N64 to Iraq as well as Afghanistan and it served me well on both tours, despite the extreme dusty environments. Just like Sweet apple Acres the N64 is "tried and true".   =)

For me, it's PC. It can play most games, easy to upgrade, and I can use it for many things. Keyboard and mouse are the most versatile console for me, and don't forget that you can use emulator softwares on PC.

Gotta be the 3DS, it's pretty fun even if you don't have any game cartridges with the Mii Plaza games and videos and things. It's 3D and super cool, and it's handheld so I don't have to hog the tv. I have a lot of fun taking it to Disneyland where I have repeated street pass tags from cast members.

Ok listen stop voting pc, pc doesn't count. i dont have anything against it but honestly you can almost get any game on a pc... i mean games OFFICIALLY on pc by they're creators, so you can count in tf2 portal and all that, and remember more consoles run older games nowadays, did ya know the wii can play gamecube games without any software of any kind? i play my old paper mario thousand year old door on it for petes sakes, and i know 3ds has A Zelda game on.. but thanks to the Wii u coming out i don't get to play majoras mask... so if your going to vote pc, make sure it has technical officiallities with the creators, so say steam or something.

My top 3 favorite gaming consoles would have to be the N64, Sega Dreamcast, & the Nintendo Ds.

These remain my favorite systems and I still play all of them to this day. There is nothing like playing mario kart 64 or perfect dark with your friends over. And did I mention that the systems above have to awesome multiplayer games :3
