Succession of Equestria, The Crystal Empire and Twilight

Rewatching the S2 finale I got myself thinking, what are the real chances of Twilight (a.k.a no alicorn) becoming the ruler of both Equestria and The Crystal Empire and those forming a union like the UK or Austro-Hungary?

For it to happen we must assume that alicorns are not immortal. Then a succession line for both the monarchies must be formed. I think it would look like this:

Equestria: Now, Celestia

2, Luna

3, (4?) Cadence

4, (3?) Blueblood

5, Shining Armor

6, Twilight

 

I am not sure about the Cadence, Blueblood relation to Celestia

 

Crystal Empire: Now, Cadence

2, Shining Armor

3, Twilight

 

I that line is presumed to be correct the union will happen when Shining Armor is the king (prince, emperor?) of both kingdoms. What do you think about a union like that?

 

EDIT: I make my decisions about the inheritance from the Norwegian laws and old Russian laws regarding this matter. If I am wrong correct me and I would be happy to correct the line.

Why would Twilight become Princess? She's a student, not Celestia's heir. She's just learning magic. If anyone were next in line it'd be Cadence.

Twilight is a princess (duchess?) already because she is a stepsister of Cadence who is a princess. Of course if Cadence were to have children they would come before Twilight in the succession line. Nothing on the show indicates that the Sisters are mortal, so I doubt that an order of succession exists, but for the sake of argument let's say there has to be.

 

Blueblood's relation to the sisters was shoehorned in due to hasbro insisting on him being a prince (he was supposed to be a duke I think).

Cadence is heiress to the Empire, I doubt she juggle two realms.

Twilight might have the best claim from being Celestia's student, but she's not experienced enough to rule alone.

 

My guess is, that if the Sisters left, a council would be elected, consisting of one unicorn, one pegasus and one earthpony.

Well, I think Celestia and Luna are mortal, just that the alicorn race lives FAR longer then the other races.  Twilight will probably be the next ruler as it seems she is being groommed to rule.

I really don't see how Twilight could be the next heir to the throne as ruler of Equestria, shes not related to Celestia in any way. Well I guess technically shes like a very distant relative since shinning armor and cadence are married, but still.

 

I think technically speaking next up would be cadence as if shes a princess she must be related to Celestia in some way. And Blueblood is just a cousin of Celestia's I believe, so I don't think hes the next immediate choice anyways.

 

I don't really see Twilight becoming Princess for atleast a while, shes still got a while before she could even be considered an heir at all. So unless cadence and the other heirs die, shes not going to be next in line for sure.

Celestia's been running things for a thousand years. That's plenty of time for her to make some plans for what happens if - for any reason - she's unable to be in charge. If she hasn't gotten around to it yet, events at the wedding ought to have focused her mind.

 

Almost undoubtably, Luna would step into the lead role, if she isn't already legally Celestia's equal. Cadance would probably be third, as she's both a princess and an alicorn (or close enough) and would seem a natural choice.

 

After that... There'd almost have to be some way to keep Blueblood off the throne, or relegated to a figurehead. Celestia's inner council, who she already trusts for advice, would likely be the real rulers. If they couldn't openly rule, there might be some way to put the Mane Six - heroes several times over - up as the figure heads.

 

Otherwise, I suppose there might be some way to resurrect the old pre-Celestial monarchies and have them rule jointly.

 

Or maybe they'd just elect their rulers afterwards. Who knows?

If Twilight's the student, then Celestia is the teacher. So what is a teacher's ultimate goal? For the student to surpass the teacher. Since Celestia is the ruler of Equestra, then that must mean that in order for Twilight to surpass her, logically speaking, she will not only have to become more powerful, but will have to become the ruler at some point.

Have you ever seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?  Charlie isn't related to Willy Wonka, yet he still was able to inherit the factory.

True, but I think chocolate factory's are inherited differently then entire Kingdoms. I don't know many instances where someone inherits a kingdom except if they're related in someway to the previous ruler. Unless its by conquest. Even when most successors are dead the successor normally just becomes the cousin, or if they have no successor its just normally decided by some civil war or something of that sort.

 

I think the chocolate factory was more of a prize for winning the contest and then proving he could take care of it. And again I don't find it that great a comparison to a kingdom's inheritance.

I think the chocolate factory analogy is a perfect fit. I mean, who said Cadence was related to Celestia? If Celestia and Luna were really concerned about the kingdom, they would try to find an heir and teach them everything they know, and that's just what's being done with Twilight.

Not to mention it wouldn't be the first movie reference in FiM. 

 

If anyone's still skeptical, look at it this way.  We've already gotten references to Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Reb Brown, The Hooded Claw, old Looney Tunes cartoons, and even Harry Potter (why else would they give Twilight an owl and Celestia a Phoenix?). 

 

So is it really that far fetched to think that this could be a possible twist in the future of the show?  Especially with a plethora of evidence that points directly to this?
