It's awesome to see God coming up in such strange places. It just goes to show how the power of Christ spreads throughout society.

Methodist! I'm glad whenever Christ can shine on the internet, because the internet is basically run by atheists. I don't have a problem with that, just sayin'.

Alright! got sum pics from Holy Saturday/Easter. the first few pics are from the saturday orthos that began at 11 at night with a candlelight service. at midnight we celebrated Easter with the divine Liturgy before we had a lavish Easter meal with... you guessed it... meat! you really have no idea how good red meat tastes after 40+ days lol. the rest of the pics are from the vespers of Agape (greek: love). each of us read the Gospel in a different language as a symbol of Catholicos (Universalism).

1) the first gospel reading was done in Latin by my Godfather, Spyro.

2) Our ecclesiarch, Boris Hristova, read in Bulgarian

3) This lady read the gospel in Spanish

4)  That's me reading the Gospel in German

5) the fifth reading was done in french

6) this last woman had read in English

The last pic is the icon of the anastasis (resurrection)

Χριστὸς ἀνέστη ἐκ νεκρῶν!                                   Christ is risen from the dead!

θανάτῳ θάνατον πατήσας,                                    and through death he has trampled,

καὶ τοῖς ἐν τοῖς μνήμασι                                         upon death and thus bestowing upon

ζωὴν χαρισάμενος!                                               those in tombs the gift of life eternal!

Present and accounted for, sir!  Let us commence the Christian Brony Group of '13!  I already knew that there were other Christian bronies out there around me, but I'm glad one of them is bringing the religion up instead up just forgetting about God!

Aren't Christians supposed to be HATING bronies instead of being on here? Anyway, I'm Protestant, is that Christian or Catholic?

Christians. And, no we make sense.

@Vinstar....I had no idea. Thanks for that interesting little titbit. I am now gonna treat my Angry Birds Push Toy(which is a Black Bird that played him in ABSW) as a brother.

but, can't the ponies message of friendship be interpreted as having Christian value? cuz i'm Orthodox Christian and when i watch ponies, the message is pretty close to the Orthodox Church's message of Agape (love). and i don't think that it's a ploy from the illuminati and if anything i think that ponies are trying to leave things like politics, religion, sexuality and stuff like that out and just focus on teaching people the values of friendship. and aren't most bronies Christians?

Protestant is a very broad term which basically covers all forms of Christianity that aren't catholic. And who said that we are suposed to hate bronies, technical we'er not supposed to hate anyone.

HA! that would be a big no. most are atheists, let alone actually having a religion. It looks like there are a lot of Christian bronies because we all grouped together under this one thread. If there was an atheist brony post, there would be 30+ pages, sadly.

Several points -

1. I was homeschooled my entire life. I didn't spend a day in public school behind a desk. Academically speaking, I'm in Phi Theta Kappa in the college I'm attending, and up until my Sophomore year and the dreaded Calc. II I had a 4.0 GPA. I'm on a full academic scholarship and plan on transferring within a year. Socially speaking, I'm extremely well adjusted, although my first week of attending actual school scared the heck out of me, I adapted very well. I'm can get along with almost everyone and am very well respected by both my peers and my professors. I plan on homeschooling the children I (hopefully) will eventually have.

That being said, I don't think homeschooling is for everyone. There are some people that simply should not be in control of their children's education. I think there's an amazing amount of really good teachers out there that have their hands tied by the system, and I wish that wasn't the case. If I could trust public schools to give my children careful, thorough, one-on-one education then I would do it. Unfortunately, this is not the case. It may sound cruel and selfish to say it, but I think I can do a better job instructing my own children than another person my age who has heavy restrictions and test scores to follow.

2. @AstralDrip, this is going to sound a little prissy of me, but the idea of defellowshipping someone over their book/movie/TV show habits is repulsive and utterly absurd. I'm a Christian and extremely active in my church, and I enjoy The Big Bang Theory, along with Harry Potter, the Dresden Files, and My Little Pony. In my church, there's a simple message: Can you consent to be loved? Can you accept the fact that there is a God out there that loves you so passionately and completely that he'd die for you, be tortured for you, and not think twice about it? If you can do that, then everything else is window dressing. Sure, you can try to be more Christlike. But even our attempt at good deeds are simply our human selfishness rearing up and showing off to the world at how "good" we can be.

It's probably different with Jehova's Witnesses. TBH, I really have no idea how that religion works. I have a lot of Catholic friends, and even though I love them dearly I confess I'm bewildered why they feel they have to do all the ceremonial Latin, confessionals, etc. I probably sound really narrow minded right now, but it's the truth. ^^ So long as you believe Jesus died on the cross for your sins, rose again on the third day, and continues to live on today, then you're a Christian. You don't need any more then that. I can enjoy mindless children's cartoons and books about schools of wizardry to my hearts content, because I know those simple facts. <3

3. , why should we be hating bronies? Because they practice magic? I never got that. I personally love bronies, and I especially like it when people are proud enough to wear pony memorabilia in public. That takes gonads, dude. XD Other then that, I think that a lot of Christians get classified as "completely intolerant of anything magic because if you use magic then obviously it doesn't come from God, and therefore all magic is satanic and pagan". Just like a lot of bronies get classified as pedophiles/creepy people/what have you because some of us are cloppers. A very attention-getting minority usually casts a shade over the rest of us, and unfortunately there are a lot of Christians who abhor anything to do with magic. I just happen not to be one of them. *shrug*

Actually, that's one part of it. Supposedly we're a cult of homos that are into bestiality and anal. Does that answer your question?

Whoah, what?  I feel like I missed something crucial, somewhere along the line.  Please explain...not sure if sarcasm, an inside joke or what.

...Aren't most bronies Christians?

From what I've seen, that is not the case. While there are a substantial number of Christian bronies, I would estimate the number at around 25-30%, and that's being generous. I left the Christian faith right about the time I began to identify as a brony. I decided that I was going to live my life the way I wanted to, and wasn't going to let some self-righteous people tell me what my sexuality must be, and whether I can like pink or not.

I understand that not every Christian is that way, and most all of them on here are going to be tolerant of different people, and I can respect that. But there were just too many people sticking their noses in other peoples' private lives (as well as so many other places in which noses don't belong) for me to associate with them. And after everything that's happened to me over the course of my life, I can't really see why any God would allow so much hate to exist in this world.

I respect others' faiths, as long as no one tries to convert me to something else, because I know that will involve a bunch of things like "you've gotta change this, you can't do that, this has to go..." If God's love involves so many conditions, it's not really love, now is it?

...That said, if you guys can still hold on to your faith and use it to spread love instead of hate, knowing what ill deeds most people do in the name of such faith, I really do commend you. You're stronger than I am.

Christians, there are WORSE issues that you need to protest instead of mindlessly protesting pop culture.

In fact , I saw this religion poll and it says Atheist ranks no. 1 there.

I think I cook up three reasons why people are turning Atheists:

1. Lack of evidence

2. Too much evil and hate in the world for a God to exist

3. Christians use their faith as justification for their homophobia, bigotry and intolerance.

As a "Born-again Christian" (non-denominational and probably the rarest kind of Christianity around these parts), I strongly disagree with reasons 1 and 2, but they a point on reason number 3.

What we really need nowadays is TOLERANCE.

Tolerance of anybody's gender identity.

Tolerance of anybody's religious views different than ourselves unless if it's immoral, and harmful to others.

It's actually very encouraging to see Christians thinking this way. For me, the "lack of evidence" and "too much evil" stuff was really just small potatoes when compared with how many people use it as a platform for hatred. The sad thing is that many American Christians (I almost said "most" of them, but I will concede that it's probably just an obnoxious minority) talk about imposing "national religion" and the like, when one of the main reasons this country was founded was to get away from state religion.

The other day, I found myself thinking about how the Old Testament tells about the ancient Jews, and how most of their philosophy was based on sharing. If you have two coats, give your brother one, that sort of thing. Today, so many churches are just money-making machines now, and their members reflect those mentalities... it's pitiful how distorted the whole thing has become. If there is a God, and he did come down to visit his flock, I don't think he'd recognize it...

Keep spreading the love, though. People like you know what it's really all about. happy.png

Take it from somebody who was force-fed religion for so long: stand up for yourself. Do what you have to. Going along with it only makes you hate it with a passion. You have to think for yourself and make your own decision, regardless of what anybody else says.

I definitely agree with your post. Unfortunately, the Watchtower Society (Jehovah's witness organization) is very strict. I don't want to derail the thread, but I'll tell you a little bit about Jehovah's Witnesses because there is a lot of mystery surrounding the organization and although I am no longer part of it, it was still a very big part of my upbringing.

*The Watchtower society has it's origins in a 7th Day Asventist bible study group in the mid 1800's.

*Charles Taze Russell broke off from the group and by measuring the pyramids, in a sort of reverse sacred geometry way, he came to the conclusion that armegeddon would come in 1920.

*He built a large following but when armegeddon didn't come, he made the date 1921, and actually continued to postpone it 1-2 years until he died.

*After he died, his followers took on the name "Jehovah's Witnesses".

*The Watchtower society is technically a cult. Every life decision a Jehovah's Witness makes must follow the strict rules of The Governing Body; a group of eight men that no one knows much about. Jehovah's witnesses don't talk about The Governing Body in any detail.

*What is expected of Witnesses often changes and is brought to their attention through their monthly publication, The Watchtower. Awake! Is their sister publication but is mostly inspirational stories and articles on nature. The watchtower society has numerous books of instruction, and as a Witness, you are told to read them with the bible as a companion, just so you interpret the bible exactly as they want you to.

*homeschooling is strongly encouraged, college is strongly discouraged, part-time jobs are incouraged so that you have most of your day free to dedicate towards going out in service (witnessing door-to-door, in shopping centers, etc). If you are not married but dating, you must have a chaperone with you, no matter what your age is. JW's are also forbidden from going to any websites mentioning the organization, unless it is pre-approved, this includes Wikipedia and their banned list. Listening to the radio and watching TV is discouraged.

*some things that can get you disfellowshipped:

Premarital sex, researching other religions, foul language, smoking, saluting the flag, joining the military, marrying someone who is not a witness, spending time with "worldly" people (unless you're trying to convert them), reading Harry Potter (this has been brought up in my Kingdom Hall), coming out as gay, celebrating holidays (this one is a big offense), celebrating birthdays, talking to disfellowshipped family members, etc.

*a new rule just started this year staying that witnesses that don't go on public service on a regular basis, will not be accepted into paradise. Jehovah's witnesses don't believe anyone goes to heaven except 144,000 angels, the rest either live forever on paradise or just die. Breaking any of the above rules, including some not mentioned, will keep you out of paradise.

Very sorry this post is so long. That's only a bit about what life as a JW is like, and not much on their actual beliefs. Almost every JW I've known is a very nice person, and some congregations take the rules further than others. I had the disfortune of being in a very strict one.

I think you may have just completely derailed my mind with that post. e.e

I'll try not to offend, but I honestly can't comprehend that. The entire Bible is a testament of God's love for us - how he loves us and he'll keep loving us no matter what we do, or what we say or think or whatever. It's God + nothing + nothing, not God + something + something that gets us into heaven. Yes, when we disobey him we face consequences, but that's how any parent would act with a child they love. We can take our lumps and sit in the time out corner a while because beneath our trials we know that God would never give us anything we can't handle.

In my house, homeschooling is strongly encouraged, and college is not just encouraged, it's mandatory. Also, could you explain how celebrating birthdays is a sinful thing? I'm curious about this, since I've never heard of something like remembering the day someone was born is a horrible thing. <3

I've been visited by about 5 JW's in 3 months. One had me shake his hand and it took all my might to stay in contact because my hand was literally BURNING (no offense to any of them).

You didn't offend! Jehovah's Witnesses definitely are an odd breed and are really not an accurate representation of how most Christians believe. They're really victims of a cult, IMO.

As for birthdays, they usually cite Mark 6:14-29, saying that one of the few instances in the bible where birthdays are mentioned, John the Baptist was beheaded as a gift to King Herod. I don't know if it's true, but they also say that birthdays were not celebrated by early Jews. So overall, they believe that more birthdays would have been mentioned in the bible and in more favorable ways, if Jehovah (God) approved of them. This is the kind of logic that is used for many of their beliefs.

A kind of mantra that was popular in my old congregation was "Jehovah asks so little of us". I never understood what they meant by that.

They discourage sending your children to college because they'd be exposed to "worldly ideas and worldy people". This is a relatively new thing they're spreading around (Jehovah's witnesses have their origin in a university bible study group) and it makes me more angry than most of their ideas.
