Have A Pony vs. Be A Pony

A little fantasy poll for you guys. I've been thinking about this quite a bit lately because I just started getting into human-to-pony transformation fics. (In general, my favorite fics are fantasies where humans and ponies cross paths, either HiE, PoE, transformation, etc).

 

Anyway, here's the situation. Let's say that you were one day given a choice by an unnamed wizard. He gave you two options: You could either become a pony, as long as they were an OC or your ponysona OR you could choose to have a pony as a companion. In addition, you had the option of turning down the offer.

 

The details:

 

Be a pony - You'd transform into a pony in a way like in a lot of transformation fics. For those of you familiar with them, yes, that means it would be extremely painful. You'd feel your bones shifting and morphing, you'd feel a horn or wings growing, and you'd feel all your organs rearranging in your chest cavity. You'd have to watch your hands and feet slowly form into hooves. While it is occurring it is a painful, scary experience.

 

Once it was over, and you were a pony, you would have to forge a new life, separate from human civilization. You would stay on Earth for life, but there would be others. A large island would be set apart for you and the other ponies. It would have plenty of fertile land to farm, lots of lush forest and terrain to explore, and lots of space to set up a village. You could live in peace. It's not Equestria, but a pony would live well there.

 

Pros: Experience life as a pony, there would be others.

Cons: Painful transformation, would have to abandon human civilization and make a new life with the other ponies, no chance of going to Equestria.

 

Have a pony - You get to have a pony of your choice as a best friend (a la MLD and many other PoE stories) for life, be they an OC or any character from the show. You would both stay on Earth, but there would be a slight chance that eventually you both could go to Equestria, but you would stay a human. However, in the mean time, or if you couldn't go, they would be perfectly happy on Earth and would not have homesick feelings about Equestria.

 

You would be able to stay a part of human society, but your pony would be the only one, and only you would know about them when they came. In other words, you would be responsible for helping them make a place in society, as well as helping society come to terms with their existence. You would have to deal with the media circus and meddling from various prying eyes. It would get easier after a while, but at first it would be a nonstop, wall-to-wall hullabaloo.

 

Pros: Companion pony for life, slight chance of some day going to Equestria, they would be as happy on Earth as in Equestria.

Cons: They would be the only pony in the world, media circus from the rest of society, you will always be a human.

 

What would your choice be? I would become a pony, probably my ponysona Stratos. Even if I had to figure out a new life on Earth, having wings of my own would make it all worth it. And to me, leaving society behind might be more of a pro than a con.

Neither, being in a distant civilization sounds like too much work or too isolating and keeping a pony as a friend sounds selfish because I'd seperate them from the other ponies. So yeah, neither is the only option I could bring myself to choose.

I would become a pony. Even though I would go through a painful transformation and try to fit on Earth. I think being on Earth would be ok, but its not Equestria to be honest.  Plus having Wings would be awesome as a Pegasus pony.

I'd rather be a pony than being a friend with a pony.Having a pony friend would be kind of mean,since you would be distancing them from their friends (unless they're an OC) and their homeland.Plus,a small chance of probably going to Equestria is quite a small enough chance for me to overlook as a pro.Being a pony would mean being with others of who have similiar interests and thinking.

 

Besides,if I could transform into an unicorn,I can study magic and see if I can either make a spell to transform to a human and back to an unicorn at will or settle for some anthro form I could use if I felt like being human.

Besides, the transformation sounds terrible We as humans would be accepted into Equestria, because of love and tolerance... but as humans, are we capable of love and tolerating?

I've given the idea of this an enormous amount of thought, and have come to the conclusion that I'd much rather be a pony than have one. I can withstand the transformation process if it means I get to be a pony. (In fact, I'd almost be looking forward to it.) Besides, I'm already making a pony companion in the form of a tulpa, so why would I need two pony companions? Much better to be a pony alongside my tulpa, I think.

Hmm tough choice actually. I honestly have no problem at all leaving human society at all especially since I try to get away from it anyway. I suppose if have to go with have a pony.

 

Being a pony sounded pretty great but I think my options with being with my favorite pony from Equestria itself completely outweighs any thing from the other option. Just the thought of being with Spike or Fluttershy (either one works.) would be like heaven on Earth puff course I would try my best to make society come to terms with a pony ir a dragon presence hopefully we live a great life until either death or the Equestria portal appears.

 

Either option would make my life happier so I don't care but id much prefer to have a pony.

I would totally be a pony...I have often thought about what it would feel like and I know that I would totally go through pain to become a pony.

I also agree that leaving society would be more of a pro than a con. My only problem would be leaving my family, If they could come or if there was some way I could stay in contact with them than I would totally say yes to becoming a pony, But if there was no way I would see my family again than...nope.

If I did get the chance I would become my ponysona Fire Sky...I am still kinda messing around with what is mane looks like though...(Is it too vibrant ? should I switch it some other colors ?)

To be honest the fact of becoming a pony isn't really a super big pro in my opinion, sure the experience is cool and all, but expecially if the transformation hurts alot, I don't think being a pony would be the compelling reason for me. Honestly i'd only wanna be a pony if I was going to Equestria, otherwise idk..

 

As for getting a pony, well that might be really hard to explain to my parents and anyone who ever comes to my house and sees it, and quite hard to contain from the media, so Idk. it all depends.

 

Maybe if the pony was small enough i'd have a pony, that would be pretty awesome, but I just hope the media would never come around. I'd have to hide it and keep it secret basically. Which may not be good considering pony's IRL have to go outside for running going to the bathroom(Unless they can use toilets or something) And overall just getting sunshine. I dunno how MLP pony's would compare IRL to that, but yeah I might almost feel bad isolating it. And I'm not sure how good I'd be at hiding such a thing..

 

But it would be really really awesome to have a pony to cuddle after having a long day, or just a bad day. Or when I can't sleep. I have a feeling it would be kinda like a dog though, so idk . My parents never let my dog sleep with me really. Now we have a smaller dog and well... That isn't the most cuddle worthy animal size . The big dog actually made me feel safe the few times he got to sleep with me.. Anyways thats off topic.

 

As of right now, I think chances are I'd have to just not go with either, I mean it might be near impossible to keep having a pony secret like that, and becoming a pony sounds both painful, and doesn't sound like it would benifit you that much other then being a cool experience, Plus i'd miss being a human..

 

So i guess as of now I can't say i'd want to do either under the circumstances.

I definitely couldn't handle being a pony if I was going to be stuck on Earth. I rather like being a human. XD Unicorn magic would be super tempting, but being isolated on an island? Scaaaaary. XD And even if I was in another scenario where I got to be a unicorn and go to Equestria, I would be so homesick. Not just for family, but for the way things work on Earth! Magic is really cool, but I love science. I'm not sure how well I'd adjust to having to think about such a radically new factor in the way the world functions. But I could probably deal with that scenario better than being a pony on Earth.

 

So I'm stuck between have a pony or decline. Frankly, if a wizard told me the pony wouldn't be homesick, I wouldn't trust him. I think he'd either be lying or that I'd get some evil pony ("Of course I don't miss Equestria! This place was way easier to conquer!" XD). Plus, I can't imagine most of the main characters not being really homesick, so it would have to be either a background character or one not featured in the show. Thats another thing that makes me suspicious about personality compatibility! But if it happened anyway, I think it might be pretty sweet to have a pony buddy? I've always loved the idea of being a guide to Earth, even if I had to explain the bad stuff that happens here. Plus, talking pony, possibly even magic or able to fly! So cool I could imagine a bunch of fun shenanigans, too. And the possibility of being able to visit Equestria? Oh man, a new world to explore would be so awesome! The pony and I could switch places as guide and guest, and there would be more possibilities for shenanigans and adventures.

 

But something being really fun if and only if everything went just right and something I'm willing to take a risk on are not the same thing, so I still might turn it down. The deciding factor would be how the pony felt about it. But also, if the pony came here, would their magic carry over? I can't imagine that a unicorn without her magic or a pegasus without her flight would be anything but depressed. If those were the rules, I think Pinkie Pie would be a good candidate. She's got such a positive spirit, I don't think having to adjust to a new world would bother her as much as it might bother Applejack? (Even IF a hyperactive Pinkie Pie destroyed my house. XD) AJ might not be so happy with the way we do agriculture, I don't think. But if magic carried over, I think Rainbow Dash would do best. I think she'd like the attention she got, but could also handle herself with respect to dealing with dumb humans. XD Twilight's a close second, but I feel like she might take it too seriously and it wouldn't be as fun. XD

i was going to say become a Pony(i like pain) but no chance of going to Equestria would suck so i am defiantly going with have a pony copanion. i can fight of the paparazzi and media and the chance of going to Equestria would be bombastic

Same here. But why must the ending be so much like it is. This is also the greatest fanfic of all time (MLD that is). Most of this is just filling in but if I were to be a pony I would wanna be in Equestria not on Earth.

I'd go with be a pony. I'm sure the transformation process (especially the shifting of internal organs) would have more of an odd feeling than a painful one. Bone and joint transformation would definitely be painful, but everything else would just be something to sit back and watch.

This is also the greatest fanfic of all time (MLD that is). 

I've read like 5 obscure fanfics that blow MLD out of the water, and they were average compared to other things I've read. MLD is highly overrated, in my opinion.
