Adblock plus. That should tell everything. This site is probably the only place I have ever disabled the blocking on because it's not interrupting me and it's the best I can do to support Feld0 unfortunately.

I use Adblock except on sites I actually want to support (Like this one). That way, I can secure ad revenue for sites that need it and not let mega giant corporations like Google take all my spare time. (I.e. I use adblock for youtube)

Most of the ad revenue on YouTube goes directly to the creator of the video, not Google.  And since many content creators make a living solely on YouTube ad revenue, I'd say that they "need it" just as much as anyone else.

That's why it's costing Google more money to run YouTube than they make back from it.  Their other services more than make up for this difference, but it's an interesting fact to note.

You only get Ad Revenue if you have a Youtube partnership, and in most cases the videos with Ads are from big companies like Machinima and Vevo.

That was true... before YouTube opened up monetization options to every user.  Nowadays, anyone can start a YouTube channel and make a couple pennies from a hundred or so ad views.  Where the revenue goes depends entirely on what channel you're watching, in which case you'll probably want to support them anyway.

You're not going to convince me to stop using Ad block, I feel much more comfortable with only seeing Ads on sites I actively want to support.

I really don't, on websites, I tend to gloss over them and they end up not bothering me.

YouTube is a special case, i always close the ones that end up at the bottom of the screen. But the full screen ones are fun ones. Often times they are not aimed at me at all. Like women's shampoo ads and even pills for menopause. These aren't for me. And half the time, the ads aren't even in a language I speak at all. And thus they go completely unnoticed.

I don't care for them, if they help out those content creators, good.

If you don't want to support YouTube channels just because they're hosted on a website owned by Google... well, it's a free country.  But, you know...

It all depends on how the advertisement introduces itself, than the content of the advertisement. So if the ad pops up and prevents me from what I am trying to do, it is already being ignored. If the advertisement is on the bar, I might take a quick glance and if it is something like a cleaning product, I'll just ignore it, though if it is sponsoring a trailer for what looks like a awesome movie, the advertisement won and I'll check it out.

No I don't read them. Even if it looks like something cool I'm like "meh" and ignores it. So yeah I usually ignore ads. Even though I hate ads I have them activated on the forums, hah.

While I do employ an ad blocker, I whitelist sites that I visit frequently and trust will advertise sensibly so they can get their revenue (including this one). Even with a page full of ads, I don't find them very obtrusive because I got used to ignoring them before ad blockers were an option. I just zone in on the content and often forget the ads are there. Forums can be pretty bad though. This one is fine, but go to some of them and they'll have interstitial ads littering the thread responses in addition to ones in the margins; that's going overboard and they can sometimes make me feel a little disoriented. Even so, I don't read or watch them even when they've become unavoidable. By that point I'm too irritated to be interested in whatever they may be selling. As for Youtube ads, I skip them whenever possible. Livestream ads can't be skipped (and I've been forced to sit through a few during our movie nights) but I just do something else for the 30 or so seconds they last.

Have you seen the ads they're slipping into captchas now? With some of them they'll display an image provided by an advertiser and the user is required to type a catch phrase that's depicted in the image. Behold:

Sometimes a short video clip plays and the user is required to enter something that the spokesman said. While they're no more difficult to do than ordinary captchas, they annoy me enough that I've just left sites that used them rather than doing whatever I went there for.

If the add has a good hook to it, then I'll see what it is all about. If it is simply your basic TV-esque adds, they would often bore me and turn me off.

Granted, this is from a guy who has Adblock plus from Chrome, so I haven't watched a single YouTube add in... forever.

The only ads I've actually willingly watched (as in searched up on YouTube) are the Old Spice ones, because they're just so good. I can't tell whether I like Isaiah Mustafa or Terry Crews more... maybe Isaiah because they had him do a bunch of side-video type things (The Fabio thing; replying to Tweets; Manta Clause)

I don't really like the other newer Old Spice commercials as much though, they just aren't as funny... BRING BACK ISAIAH OR TERRY D:

or even both... O:

(And don't even get me started on The Most Interesting Man In The World)

Well, now with advertisements adjusting themselves according to our web searches, a lot of times they interest me a little (like selling plane/Boeing models, for example). I usually already know what's being advertised at that moment, so then I won't read them :P.

Adblock is my friend....I hate commercials. I am not a part of mainstream society and nothing advertised appeals to me at all, so to me it's useless garbage.

The ad really has to appeal to me. Use your targeting to good use. Show me an ad for something that I'd like. Show respect for your prospective consumers. Don't be condescending or off-putting in your portrayals of people in your ad. Don't make it too long. Don't be stupid. Try to innovate. If you're doing something different, I might take a second look. Don't overexpose the ad. If I see the same ad too many times I'll be shut off to it. I'm a media literate and I have sales resistance. Sometimes, your product or your brand can sell itself if enough thought was put into it.

I'm also not a fan of "any publicity is good publicity". Sure it generates brand awareness, but there are two flaws to this:

  1. I find it completely useless to whore for attention if your brand is established and well-known already, and
  2. what good is mere "attention"? The bottom line is what matters. If I see an ad that sucks I'll actually go out of my way to avoid that product until they change their ad campaign.

I hate Ads.  Period.  Even on youtube, I want to skip them and unfortunately, I gotta sit through those "waste-of-time" advertisements.
