I don't know much about 4chan but I am aware that that's a dangerous place, are you a member of it, we need all the sources we need to copy this petition.

It is, but if Anons there actually like the game they'll definitely help out.

 

If not....then...it will either be ignored or they'll just sit around and laugh at us bronies for trying to do something about it.

By the way, that 500 signatures? I didn't set that, it's not a hard limit, and as far as I know reaching it won't cause anything to be automatically sent anywhere. In the meantime, there WILL be an automatic email sent to the address I posted earlier in the thread every time someone signs, because I really need to have the feeling of "I'm doing SOMETHING" right now.

 

EDIT: Check now, we've passed 500 signatures and what do we get? New goal 1000 signatures!

 

Also, based on others' posts about /mlp/ I MAYBE should have left the 4chan part of this to someone else...

I was thinking. Maybe the reason Hasbro stopped it from actually being completed, is because they don't want to have people associate a simple "girly" cartoon like My Little Pony, with violence.

Remember everypony, Fighting is Magic is just the beginning. On second thought, hell, actually it's not. Hasbro already tried to put the kibosh on FiW (and thankfully failed), but they managed to kill MLP Online and Rainbow Dash Presents. How long before they come after PMV creators? Animators? Musicians? Artists? Plush and custom merch makers? Part of me is worried that Hasbro is preparing for a full-on assault on the creative sections of the fandom. How long until they come after DA and the like? Don't think they won't if they could. Greed knows no bounds.

 

Well, we're not gonna let that happen, are we?

 

Whether the existence of our community was intended or not, the fact is that we are here now. We should make like Fluttershy and put our hooves down.

I don't think they understand the impact we have on their sales, for them to steam roll everything without regard for their fans is their right of course but it's also our right to fight back, I'm talking boycotts and what not, if there is going to be a petition we need to stop making excuses for them, saying "we love the show and we'd really super duper appreciate it if you stopped ruining everything" is cute, but the only thing a big corporation is going to bat an eyelash at is a financial threat.

 

Or worse, a legal one, obviously plenty of these fan projects fall under fair use, especially since they are not making a profit, I'm not expecting everyone to grab a lawyer and start a court battle, but reminding them that such a thing would give them a very bad public image would help with the financial threat as well.

Ugh.  I just got the news from another user's status.  I couldn't believe what I read.   I honestly hope that the two parties can reach some sort of agreement so that Fighting is Magic can see the light of day, despite how far fetched that may seem.  Perhaps they can back the project up and release it under that brand new IP the have planned for the older demographic of MLP.  Still, this is tragic, and I really feel for Mane6 and anyone else involved in the game's development. 

 

In any case, I'm gonna go ahead and sign that petition.

I think it would be better to lobby south american governments, Israel , etc and get  prominent politicians to threaten hasbro of banning their show and products on those region as well as internet blockade.When was the last time a corporation respond to petitions and peaceful protest?

 

tho the mane 6 dev should've just passed the codes to people in countries not affected by US copyright laws and get em to finish it.

Why not? I never played FIM, but it sounds like a good game and obviously a lot of people are upset about this, so I'll help out. I hope we can make a difference by doing this.
