Applejack.... Popular!?!

As you all know Applejack used to be one of the least loved ponies, along with Rarity in my opinion they are both great ponies! 

 

But has anyone noticed Applejack popularity has increased? More Applejack avatars more people's profiles saying 'Applejack is best pony' I think this is great news!

 

It may be because in season 3 Applejack has had an proper episode with a song, or because she has became more loveable or she has got funnier or she is just.... Applejack and its the other characters rolling down hill.

 

Please tell me what you think, if you know why she is popular, if you agree with me or if you disagree with me. Thanks

I started to like AJ more after this season. She just seemed more like a pony who had a reason. I still don't like Rarity too much, but that's for another time. The problem I had with AJ is that she had liitle airtime that was good or rememberal. But S3 actually made me like her more.

At first I didn't NOT like Applejack--she just wasn't in my mind. But the second time I rewatched the seasons I actually ended up liking Applejack AND Rarity more than before. Where the first time it was

Again thanks for the opinions, firstly yes I agree the mean memes about Applejack have made Applejack fans angry and they fought back, they showed people all the good things about Applejack and soon people realised she was not all that bad.

And secondly its true the pony's popularity did pop out out of bucking  no where, but it seems people have just accepted the pony in there love list

I don't know why she's popular, but if I had to say something for it, it would be...

Cowgirls have their own charm. I've a different sense of liking for each pony.

It's hard to rank them because they're not easily compararable with different traits and conditions.

AJ's had more screentime to be herself since Season 1 & 2. Most of the episodes that feature Applejack prominently had her either crazy, or playing second fiddle to another character. Season 3 was the first time people got to see her true character without things like sleep deprivation and Derpy getting in the way, and they're realizing they like her.

If only Rarity could get the same treatment, maybe she wouldn't be consistently at the bottom of everyone's favorite pony list (excluding a few exceptions like myself).

I think Applejack got more popular because she got a baby form and had a very cute line.

 

 

Now this is an odd ball idea, but most of the pic that are in my DA AJ folder are her in her baby form.

I always liked Applejack (and oddly enough I've made more threads about her than my actual favorite character) but this season was great for her as a character and it helped move her up to my third best pony

I concur with a few of the above posters. Applejack fans have been propagandizing her for a long while. They warn of the threat of armies of Applejack haters who want her removed from the show...but that I've never seen one.

 

"Applejack hatred" became this ghost that was constantly attacked snd criticized. People called for Applejack to be loved en masse to counter the hate. But, of course, the hate didn't exist. The most Applejack fans could point to were jokes people made which read "Applejack is a background pony". Those jokes weren't made by haters; hell, they're somewhat pro-Applejack! By saying that she's s background pony you imply that AJ should receive more attention.

 

By the way, this thread should be hidden quick lest the underground army of Applejack haters find it.

As someone who has liked Applejack from the beginning I am glad to see this, everyone wants to see their favorite pony get more popular and I am no exception. People didn't really hate Applejack but perceived her to be a "boring character" largely because during much of the screentime she has gotten in seasons 1@2 she has been overshadowed by other characters and has had relatively little character development compared to the rest of the Mane 6. Thanks to 2 season 3 Applejack episodes alot of people got to see that Applejack though she is not as silly and random as Pinkie Pie, shy as Fluttershy, have the OCD like tendencies of Twilight, have the brash slightly arrogant nature of Rainbow Dash, or the drama queen attitude of Rarity she is still a very interesting character with her own compelling story to tell.

 

 

Of course I am also guilty of overlooking certain characters as well and the ones I overlooked the most were Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle and Rarity. I never hated any of them I just didn't always see why they were so popular, with Rainbow Dash I thought she was over rated but she became my 3rd and eventually 2nd favorite pony after Sleepless in Ponyville and Wonderbolt Academy which showed that Rainbow Dash has matured more than any of the other mane 6 characters. I overlooked Twilight Sparkle because I tend to overlook nearly all "leader characters" but after an observation from a friend of mine of "dude you are a lot like Twilight" I began to relate to her as a character to the point where she became my 2nd favorite pony and then became tied with Applejack for best pony.

 

I didn't like Rarity all that much at first, sure I wasn't one of her more hard core haters but I often found her drama queen attitude to be very annoying. I began to appreciate her more because the same friend who introduced me to ponies is a hard core Rarity hater in large because she reminds him of his mother who he has a very strained relationship with and I kept saying to him "come on she is not that bad." When I gave her a second chance I saw that although she is not being written to her full potential as a character because they over emphasize the drama queen side of her she is a fairly complex character that cares very much for her sister often to the point where she is willing to do things she wouldn't even consider just to please her and is a very talented and creative pony

Firstly I agree that foal was so adorable and this must of made fans go "awh" so that must have been a plus, and I also agree that season 3 was great for Applejack, it made her character stronger and I think Ashleigh maybe was not that sure about Applejack but now she into the character.

I've noticed that she's been talked about more often now, and not exactly that much negatively either. May it's just me (And other people), but still, I like it .
