In one episode it's nightime outside of Twilight's window right after her and Spike wake up in the morning. They wake upme and iyts sunmy, then itthe becomes night time, then the next shot shows ot as it should be, daytime.

  • 4 months later...

Was re-watching One Bad Apple earlier on when i noticed this baby.

This is the second time I've seen Scootaloo animated without any wings (first was in the Stare Master episode) and I swear that Hasbro does some of these on purpose. I've noticed that FIM has more than it's fair share of errors in it's animation and that's fine. I get that animating a show like this is a huge task, especially when you consider just how great it looks, and it doesn't really bother me. It would however bother me if i found out that Hasbro is intentionally doing this, it's just that for errors like this to go unnoticed seems a little odd and that If that was the case I'd just rather them make it properly then throw these in on purpose as some joke or whatever. Although I guess animation errors gave birth the the most popular FIM character around. It hasn't changed how i feel about the show i still love it but yeah, just up late thinking

What are your thoughts?

Like them don't like them?

Maybe you could post your favorite if you have one?

Animation Errors sometimes can't be helped. I heard that MLP is mostly animated on Flash... If this is true, then some of these errors are programme related. I doubt they'd make animation errors on purpose though. I didn't notice Scootaloo was wingless in this shot and it was probably the case for a lot of bronies - so it's only natural that something like this might fall through the cracks.

However, they do normally have a good attention to detail, the animation in this is some of the best I've seen in years. So you have to give them some lee-way. :P

Actually I've heard that when rendering with Flash errors pop up occasionally that can't be noticed when they are actually animating the episode. It seems to be more of an issue with the program than an issue with the staff of the show.

Iv only ever noticed one error but I cant remember what episode it is where a few of the items of back ground scenery pass through rainbow dash as if they were in front of her If you like nit picking with the errors someone on youtube made this,          apple jacks freckles go missing a hell of a lot

I read online that they have several studios in Philippines that animates certain episodes

Oh really? That kind of makes sense. I've heard of Similar stories with Dreamworks Animation getting companies in India to work on parts of films they'd been to busy to do themselves. Not saying that other countries can't measure up at all or anything though  ^_^

Noteworthy's error is one of my favorites. I don't know why these would be intentional, but some of these are a bit weird. Also the brown/blonde pony in this same image looks weird too, his eyes are off.Posted Image

I'm sure that they do have people who are just as skilled, but why would corporations outsource in the first place? PROFIT!

It's just the nature of corporations to find cheap unskilled labor over skilled professionals who want a decent pay.

Animation errors can't be helped, it's just part of working with Flash. The only one that might have been done on purpose was Derpy's original appearance. I've heard some say that an animator did it as a joke, and I've heard others say that it was just a normal error.

Besides, Hasbro doesn't do the animation itself, why would they be making errors on purpose?

flash is a program that eats high amounts of RAM, not even my laptop which has 4GB of RAM can fully handle later versions of flash, and seeing the magnitude of this show, and the elements that are going to be manipulated (characters, objects, bgs, special effects and voices) it's probably that things like these would happen, I doubt they do it on purpose.

Flash can be a b**** sometimes.  Just seeing how hard they have to work on this, and how good the animation is is truly amazing.  I think it's not on purpose for the 2 reasons...

1. Didn't see them

2. Flash being Flash

Ever heard the phrase a poor handy man blames his tools?

You couldn't possibly say that the blame falls squarely on flash, difficult as it may be to use sometimes, it's still a bang up piece of software. The shows animation is so consistently beautiful and detailed the handful of errors it gets seem a little too... consistent in some ways. Also, i don't know if the characters have set animators that work on each of them or just anyone free at the time gets the job, but these people are working on a near frame to frame basis and can spend quite a while working on a single scene so it would be pretty hard to overlook things so obvious.

I don't really mind most of the minor animation errors, such as many of the ones pointed out by Whitehawkepaunch's videos, namely those that appear only on one or two frames. I also don't mind minor inconsistencies (i.e. Discord's horns sometimes facing the wrong way, Twilight's scar on the wrong side of the cheek, Iron Will's Microphone switching sides, Twilight spitting out a different color apple than she ate, to name a few.) However, it does bother me whenever there are noticeable wingless pegasi (namely Rainbow Dash), hornless unicorns (though I don't really care if they're background characters,) and/or completely disjointed or mal-formed characters (imploding Noteworthy, Celestia's oversized hooves, Swan Celestia and missing tails, for some examples).

While overall the animation is great, I would be happy if once the series is complete they'd re-visit some of these episodes and correct the more egregious animation errors in a sort of "remastered" release, although I can't say whether or not doing something like that is actually feasible. Just wishful thinking on my part.

To me, I never really notice them. I only find out about these errors when someone points them out or the errors occur at a long duration. Anyways, they never really bother me. As long as this show keeps going, I won't ever stop loving the show, no matter the number of errors!

Animation errors are funny haha, and sometimes cute, and sometimes they spawn a fanbase for a whole character(Ok well I dunno how many other cases other then derpy there are, but he is one :P.)

Also I don't really think they're intentional, I'm no animator, but I've heard that Adobe can have lots of random errors during animations.

But it feels like they put little Easter eggs around, to be honest I'm not observant enough to find these without them being pointed out to me.

I find them hilarious honestly. There was one in "May the Best Pet Win" where rainbow dash ran in front of a group of animals, but somehow ran behind a duck that was in the same line. I laughed and enjoyed the little mess up
