SINGER COMPETITION!!!
 
I decided to turn this into a competition for all singers everywhere on this forum! I know there is a lot of potential out there and I want to see it!

 

Here are the rules:

  • You need to sing a rock song that it is well notably ROCK and upload it. Examples: Aerosmith, Van halen, Journey, Led Zepp, Soundgarden, Etc.{I will accept covers of pony songs also if you can prove to rock out to it!!!} (Note: I will not hold you against the song you sing as long as it is rock n roll. Examples I won't take Pantera [anything to their nature is not generally what I'm looking for, great band however!], Bieber, Rhianna, You get what I mean..)
     
  • I will accept Video AND Audio files. that you upload to YouTube, Sound Cloud, or anywhere I may view them. (Have specifics? Please message me to tell me where you'll upload it)
    IMPORTANT NOTE!!!: I will be needing singers potentially in the future with a camera if I make a video to and include you as well!
     
  • I'm hoping to get a lot of feedback, so I'll narrow it down to 3 or 5 people once I close the competition. I will announce the closing of the competition when I feel I've gotten enough participants.

I like to do covers of rock n roll music and I was looking for someone to sing for the songs that I cover!
Even if you're not interested, I'd appreciate it if you guys could share this thread with any potential vocalists you know of!

I've never hard that song before, but I can sing pretty well. I'm not sure if mine's fit for rock though no matter how much I wish it was. DudeGuy above me's voice would fit pretty well I think.

Ya never know, now that I turned this into a competition, I'd like to see you give it a chance at least :) To be honest, I know a few people that have wowed me with their voice unexpectedly!

This should be very interesting. The only thing I can think of doing (cause I have no good recording stuff for vocals) is to record myself playing rock band. Turning the game volume down and microphone volume up ;)

Damn I wish I could help you out man, but my clean vocals aren't suited for rock and besides that I can grunt a bit. I sound kinda like PrinceWhateverer when I sing. Also, I can't record anything with my mic since it has some problems :/

I'm not asking you to sound like Bon scott (ACDC) xD who knows maybe a pure clean voice is what I'm looking for!!! If it weren't for your mic wasn't out of commission, I'd really want you to try! Who knows! You may be just what I need!

DAYUM that song's pretty awesome, but unfortunately I can't play any instruments, so I can't cover that any way other than it is now.  

 

Lol, it looks like no one has any decent recording gear. I have a headset for my xbox, but it actually has a very good quality mic. So yeah, that's my set up.

I went back and checked PrinceWhateverer again and you're right, I was thinking more about his vocals when he just started posting vids on Youtube but yea he really has improved! Though I don't know if I'm cut out for rock songs, I guess I'll try to do some.

This may either have been answered or may be a common sense question so just bear with me but, does metallica count? I would love to know because I might be able to do metallica. (I usually sing lighter songs by people like phil collins, bruce hornsby, or steve winwood  but I would love to try some thing new  :D )

By all means you may sing Metallica, I see a higher skill set in singing Metallica in comparison to some others. Other Metal bands I will take would be Megadeth, Iron Maiden, and Dream Theater

 

So I finally recorded the songs! I still don't think my voice fits rock, but you be the judge of what's what.

 Okay so how do I put things here with Soundcloud? The files are too big to upload.

You should be able to post a link right here and I'll be able to view it if it's not private. If it is private on the other hand, you might have to send it some other way. Youtube, email,skype, etc. I had this problem with someone else using soundcloud. If that's the only way you can send it, message me and we'll work it out!

Right, so here they are. The first one is One Last Letter by Aviators, I was kinda wobbly during the first part, but whatever.

Next is Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day. I did this one twice because the first one is more natural, but it doesn't fit very well like I have said before, and the second one I tried to sound more "Rocky". But not the Boxing kind.

If you need rock, I'm your guy. I'm working with a voice coach and I have performed at a number of big shows. I also play bass and I noticed you didn't play it in your cover.

 What song do you plan on singing? I've listened to a few of your songs and they're pretty good! However I will need a finally entry when the time comes!

 

I will try to give this a shot but I don't know if I can find something good to record with, but I will try to make into this audition.

I really don't think I have much of any singing ability to be honest, but that could be my low self confidence speaking :P.

 

I've never had lessons, so I don't consider myself a good singer really, nobodys exactly commented in a positive way to it, not that I sing in front of others really ever.

 

So yeah I can't consider myself a singer really :P. I have musical experience I guess, considering I play trumpet, and am learning guitar right now, but I don't do anything other then random singing of stuff in my room when I'm bored.

 

Not sure i'd qualify for this :P, I'd be more likely to embarrass myself I think :P.

Good luck with the contest I guess anyways.

Would you take Bohemian Rhapsody?  It's not very rocky in the beginning, but it's one of my favourite songs and it would mean a lot to me if I could sing it.

 

EDIT: Or, worse comes to worst, I can do Dream On or something.
