What if the Alicorn spell was never supposed to happen?

On watching the season 3 finale for the millionth time I came up with a plausible idea for season 4 amd why Twily may have been made an Alicorn. I noticed that while she grew wings her horn didn't change, and all of the princesses have very long very sharp horns, while Twilights stayed short and round. My thoughts are what if she was never meant to be a princess? On hearing some words from Lauren Faust I fiund out that there wasn't originally going to be a "Twilight Sparkle", but a "Twilight Twinkle" instead. This mare would have been the female equivalent of Shining Armor. What if this hidden was brought to life in a means that Celestia reveals that perhaps only a first born filly may be a princess, but the expectant Twilight family had a colt first instead? What if all the tests and student work and limits being pushed were Celestias way of testing Twilight to see if she would be able to withstand the extremely dangerous spell that would make her an Alicorn? Perhaps the mares body will reject the wings and we will see a bit of space where Alicorn Twilight is real Twilights own worst enemy, rendering the Elements of Harmony, which could potentially save her life and attitude, useless, until Shining Armor, who is able to get closest to her, swipes her element and becausw of bloodline and similar cutie mark is able to use it to help the others save her. I know its an elaborate idea, but its possible. :3 Opinions?

Idk I think the horn is simply staying the same because its the way her horn is designed and it looks good on her, I'm not sure if the long horn has to do with being a princess exactly.

Its a bit of an elaborate theory i'd say, since theres not alot of proof really to support it. Therefore its highly speculation. Plus she seems to be handling her wings well for the short time we've seen her have them, I imagine if something was wrong with the whole thing her wings would start to be rejected more immediately, but it wasn't.

I think the requirements for the Alicorn spell to work was just for someone to combine magic and the magic of friendship together. I think that was what made her an Alicorn.

There was a really good thread explanation (A long one) but I'm not sure where it is, it has a pretty good explanation of the whole thing. Not sure where it is anymore though.

As amazingly, braincrunchingly, interesting as your entire theory is, it kind of falls apart right... about... here...

You see, I can just point at Cadenza's horn when she was a babysitter and say that it's probably an age thing and it will grow with time.

A bit overcomplicated for the show, but good fanfiction fodder. I'd tone down the 'filly' vs 'colt' thing a bit, make it a personal prejudice on Celestia's part rather than a real rule, and she is forcing the issue because she doesn't want to deal with a full-blown 'Prince' that might challenge the non-alicorn Princes that she has created (like Blueblood?). A good conspiracy theory driven by deep personal character flaws in authority figures tends to go over well.

Kadences horn was still sharper than Twilights when she was young. Its obvious. And its not just my own theory a bit of it was speculated at a brony panel I recently attended. And I really think something similar may happen. Why else would Shining Armor be showing up more and more if he didn't have another very important role to play?

And this theory reall circles around Fausts revelation that Shining Armor.was originally going.to be a female character named "Twilight Twinkle."

If Celestia did change twi into an Alicorn just for those reasons, why would she even make her an official princess afterwards?

Also, Faust also stated that Twilight was supposed to be Celestia's successor.

I think you're probably looking into it a little too much. I think Twilight's horn is staying like that because that's what she looks like. The designers aren't going to change her appearance more than adding wings.

I think that theory is a little elaborate considering it's a show geared towards children that aren't going to notice that Twilight's horn is shorter. Kids aren't going to be able to follow the plot you outlined there, it's simply too complicated an idea for a children's show.

Well i really don't think the horn would have grown either way, otherwise a big horn on a small pony would look very weird.....other than that, I understand your theory, but remember...MLP isn't really this complicated when it comes to logic or theories. :P

However, I would think this is a great idea for a fanfic, and I really think Twilight deserved becoming an Alicorn, after all the magic she did, and how she saved Equestria loads of times. I really don't think you have to be born an Alicorn...maybe if a non-royal pony has shown the good qualities of a leader they can become one too. But I dunno.

Also keep in mind that Twilight is still pretty young...all of the mane six are. She just became a Princess at a very young age, so maybe they gave her wings so she could be used to them. ;)
