Why does Luna get most of the love while Celestia doesn't?

Luna is the underdog and everypony loves the underdog.

I don't understand it when people say that Luna is the underdog. Since you think this, I'll ask you to explain this to me. She is a princess, how can she be the underdog? Maybe I'm missing something. She is never shown to be inferior to Celestia or anyone, she is never shown to be oppressed somehow. If anyone in this show is the underdog it's the diamond dogs...

Because they live underground... And they're dogs... Sorry, stupid joke.

I think the reason that perception exists is because of just how many times Luna was shown versus Celestia.

Season 1: Only in the pilot.

Season 2: "Luna Eclipsed" and the cameo in the finale

Season 3: Season premiere, "Sleepless in Ponyville," and the finale

Season 4: She rose to a little more prominence here. though I don't remember all episodes she was in.

Of course there is also the matter of the comics where Luna has had more development, and going by the micro comic, was shown to have less responsibilities than Celestia. Add to that we see Luna still dealing with her past (Nightmare arc) and has an easier tendency towards anger (Reflections arc) as opposed to Celestia who is usually shown smiling and regal.

As it stands, I don't think her perceived status as 'underdog' is about her being inferior to Celestia. It just has more to do with Celestia having a prominent role in the show and being shown with more on her plate versus Luna.

Like some have already said, Celestia is perfect and she isn't that relatable.
Luna is a misfit with a good heart and on some level, people can relate.

For me personally, growing up I intimidated a lot of people. Fillies and Colts alike. I didn't know why.
A lot of stuff happened to me so I was defensive and not much of a social creature and I think it did spook people. But grown up and more relaxed, more people feel comfortable around me and I have many friends that care about me.
I suppose its a similar circumstance so it's easier for me to like and understand Luna then Celestia. So perfect, every pony loving her and such..

Well, Luna has a dark back story involving her sister, ya know with her getting blasted to the moon and all, she actually has episodes dedicated to her. Well one with her helping a little filly and one about Nightmare night, (Luna eclipsed) not to mention that she does indeed have a somewhat dorky personality due to the fact that was gone for a thousand years causing her not to be their to slowly get used to the social changes that took place in the time frame that she was gone (her using the royal "we" and words like "thou").

So, while Luna does seem to by far have the most unique personality traits out of the three (not including Twilight for fairness), Celestia has more of a solid formal type of personality and it will generally take something pretty catastrophic in order to make her lose her composure, while Luna on the other hand had been shown to have a fairly short fuse and be much more outspoken.

So IMO, people just like Luna because she is a much more relatable character than Celestia and has had many more episodes to shine. Now there are still MANY people that still love Celestia for some pretty awesome reasons as well, firstly and most importantly,  banishing her very own sister to the moon for what she thought would be eternity would have just had to more than likely be the hardest thing Celestia has ever had to do, and not liking her for doing what absolutely had to be done for the sake of Equestria is kinda Childish and quite honestly I think that most people understand that.

So, with all the being said the one thing that Tia is missing that Luna seems to have more of is overall screen time and much more and much more down to earth and less formal than her sister.

I consider Celestia to be the most kind hearted in the whole series who is helpful to teach Twilight Sparkle, a royal highness. And Twilight Sparkle is a grateful pony who tries her best for princess Celestia

I kinda like Celestia because Twilight likes her. After all, she is her teacher. But I love Luna too. She has a good heart, but she is a bit selfish and temperamental like any other youths in real life. Maybe if she reached out to the ponies more and got to know them better like she did in "Luna Eclipsed," she wouldn't have felt so alone. Luna was obviously not herself when she tried to kill her own sister when she was Nightmare Moon. Why Celestia banished her young sister in the moon is a big mystery. But Luna is back to normal and she did forgive and forget, so I feel like that's all that matters.

There are a lot of Luna fans because she had an episode and Celestia didn't. They also feel sorry for Luna because she was sent to the moon for 1000 years.  -_-  People hatin on Ceslestia for protecting Equestria and what has Luna done to protect Equestria? :okiedokielokie:

Princess Celestia is the most hated/disliked/disregarded character of the show

Actually, that's probably either Gilda or Diamond Tiara.

Also, that's a false statement. While it may not be as easy to see, there's a ton of fans who like Celestia more than Luna. Maybe not as many, but enough to be accounted for. ^^

Princess Luna is more popular because to me, she's much cooler than Princess Celestia.

IMO

It's because she puts up the vibe of "I am doing all of this for my benefit" while acting useless even though she can deal with things on her own. But this is not the case due to plot induced stupidity.

I made an OC! I'm always looking for feedback on her, please have a look and tell me what you think! ^^

But what you just said makes Luna to have "more on her plate" than Celestia. Celestia is a wasted character, while Luna is explored. Maybe it's just that I have a different perception, since I don't think we, as a fandom, even know what is it that Celestia does. It's just speculation to say that Luna has less responsibilities. Why do you say that Celestia has a more prominent role in the show?

Well, as they are technically considered canon, I was going more by the comics than the show. If we just go by the show, then there is little indication of one royal having more prominence than another.

Going by Luna's micro comic, when Luna took on Celestia's responsibilities for a day, she was quite clearly overwhelmed by Celestia's normal routine, which included diplomacy with other nations, dealing with the nobility, etc. Once the day had concluded, she was exhausted and could very well have killed some pony, and she was more than happy to give back her sister's responsibilities.

I do consider the comics to be canon. I'm saying that even then Luna has a lot more than Celestia. Where exactly did you get that Celestia is "more important" to Equestria than Luna, when I can't even clearly define what is it that Celestia does that Luna doesn't. By the way all we know of Luna's activities is that she guards dreams. If we go by the comic, then all Celestia does is fool around with nobles, make decisions on whatever is going on, all she does is something that any other pony could do. Luna has an unique ability (up to now, at least).

Here is a song dedicated to Princess Luna

https://equestrianights.bandcamp.com/releases

Her name is Luna
Princess Luna
She rules the moon ah
While we all rest our eyes

Her mane is blue ah
She so mysterious
Im oh so curious
Shes got me hypnotized

Luuuuuna
Luuuuuna
She blankets the sky
With her velvet beauty
I hear her in my dreams
Singing sweet melodies

Shes a princess
A princess of the night
So graceful while in flight
Im truly mesmerized

It's so enchanting
The way her soul shines
Shes like a shooting star
The gives me hope in dark times

Luuuuuna
Luuuuuna
She blankets the sky
With her velvet beauty
I hear her in my dreams
Singing sweet melodies

Personally, I don't consider Luna's "unique ability" all that important in the grand scheme of things. Yeah, that might be important on a personal level, but considering Celestia personally deals with international relations, pubic appearances to large crowds, dealing with nobility (not something that is insignificant) while also appeasing to the common ponies, and having a hoof in large scale public events.

Now, don't take that as me saying Luna's role isn't important. Her dream duties have a place, and she has done her share of public appearances with her sister (Twilight coronation, among others), but in my eyes Celestia is the more important leader.

I've been always been wondering to myself about this. How come Princess Celestia is the most hated/disliked/disregarded character of the show while her sister, Princess Luna gets the most attention or the most love?

What's with Molestia, Trollestia, and Tyrantlestia. Not to mention, why the Solar Empire vs the New Lunar Republic.

This has been boggling my mind for some months now. Anyone have a good reason why Luna is more better than Celestia?

Celestia is a good character, don't see as a boring character at all.

She is more interesting of a character in comparison.

She was a ruler, heavily implied to be worshiped like a god, who let envy corrupt her heart so she fell from paradise when she attacked her own sister. She was eventually redeemed and accepted back by said sister into paradise.

What does Celestia have going for her?

She is a ruler of a country and implied to be worshiped as if she is a god and the whole reason her sister fell is because she ignored her. Yawn.

Luna has a more likeable personality, she doesn't send her student to do basically everything for her (she could have helped sometimes) she looks better and has a more likeable role (the night) hmm...she didn't banish her sister to the moon and leave her there until she somehow escaped...

You would think celestia would have saw something wrong with Luna before the nightmare forces took over...but nope.

I guess the real reason why Luna is getting all the attention is first of, alot of people find her very relatable.

Secondly, she has Woona. Cute.

But Celestia has like you know. "Molestia", a crazy.. Y'know.

And also, her intro in S2 was very surprising, because before that I think, nobody knew about her.

She is also, very well-balanced out as an character.

Because we hear Celestia's name every single episode, and alot of references to her in alot of episodes, maybe the community feels that she it too overrated.

So, Luna, only having a few episodes dedicated to herself and never really mentioned by the mane 6, was I think more in the publics eyes. Because she is such a mystery.

Just like derpy, DJ-PON3, and octavia.

You very rarely hear them speak.

Or not at all.

But this is just my opinion.
