Well, when Mandy joined, as whatever her name was back then, I was in the "Ship the Member Above You" thread. I shipped her with Discord, and she declared me her new friend. Later that day, or maybe not too long later, she PM'd me about coming to join in conversation in the Random/General Chat Thread. Originally, I had always been on the fence about going into this thread. It honestly is intimidating from the outside, and I can see why many avoid this place. But I said, "Eh, why not. What else would I do today anyhow?" So I came to the thread, and the rest is history. I still wonder what would have happened if I had joined earlier, like not too long after I joined the forum.

 

I learned something new today.

 

I just kinda sauntered in one day. Not really an interesting story.

 

I still couldn't understand why people see this thread as intimidating, yet most of them can easily jumps straight to replying in a 3-pages thread without even reading the whole damn thing...

 

To outsiders we seem like a full-on forum circlejerk, and most people tend to stay away from such things. Circlejerks aren't friendly to new members.

 

Of course, we're actually very accepting of new people (at least I'd like to think so). It's the appearance though that causes the aversion.

I gave up trying to fix my mistakes, so now I'm performing a clean install of Windows XP.
Hopefully won't screw up this time.
