I just had a quick question for any musicians here: How do you make your music? Through a DAW or by playing an instrument?

I make mine by using Audiosauna, a DAW that works in the cloud (Because the Chromebook can't run programs). That's pretty much it.

Live instruments and software are like peanut butter and jam! (pun sort of intended)

If I ever had a pony inspired band, it would consist of instruments and an awesome DJ set up. But that's just a crazy dream tongue.png I still write pony folk music xD

Personally, I only use a DAW because I only have acoustic instruments.  I know that a lot of people with analog do use both.  One of my favorite artists who does tutorials uses live guitars and drums.  I use FL Studio, which is pretty basic, but in the right hands, can make stuff just as good as the top producers.  In fact, The Living Tombstone uses FL Studio as his primary DAW.

I use FL studio, and while I don't consider it the best DAW out there (The sounds that come with it seem mediocre in my opinion) it is pretty easy to use and to learn how to use. Other than that, I also play piano, but I haven't really made any piano songs that have got past being on paper.

I've been playing bass guitar for nearly eight years now and am starting to get the hang of FL studio after a couple years. I don't work on FL beats every day, so that might be why it's taken me longer to really start making good ones.

Well I'm not a musician yet, though one thing that I can say, is that there is nothing that beats the real feel of a true analog synth, having all of the knobs right at your fingertips is just something that you can't get with software, not even a MIDI controller gives me the same feeling. I have ventured into software a little bit, just because there are certain things that you can do with software that you can't do with hardware. But I'd choose a pure analog Moog or Korg model and a Modular system over any VSTs like Massive or FM8. But I'll admit that Absynth, Reaktor, and Max/MSP are pretty epic.
