mega thread Unpopular Music Related Opinions

OT: I think Drone Metal is one of the most artistic genres in metal music

Thank you, thank you, THANK you, for bringing this up. I can't stand when people say drone is all the same or really boring or whatever. Drone is not to be listened to intently, but to be taken in as something entirely different from any other style of metal.

Wow....there are some....not angry people...but....er....passionate people in here. Anyways, as far as unpopular music-related opinions go.

- I don't hate Nickelback. They're okay. Certainly far from great, but they're okay.

- I want to slap anyone who says that I "don't have to like Bieber, I just have to respect him". No, I don't. He has no talent. Have you heard him when his voice isn't being processed by a computer? He has ZERO talent, sorry.

- I enjoy some pop music. It's kinda random, really. I'm sure there's an underlying pattern with what pop music I like, but I sure as heck don't see it.

- I live in Nashville, and dislike most country music.

- I liked "Raise This Barn". Probably should take into account that Applejack is my favorite....might have something to do with that.

- I freaking love Rush. Those guys are amazing musicians. And as a drummer, Neil Peart makes me weep tears of joy.

He wrote some of his own songs and has been proven to be able to sing. He has SOME talent, even if you choose to ignore it because he's the fucking Biebs.

Speaking of which, there are so many easier targets than Justin left in the music industry. Just ignore him; he's on the way out anyway. I say we start ragging mercilessly on David Guetta; he's the reason that every pop artist sounds the same lately. Just a few years ago, you could tell the difference between Maroon 5, Rihanna, Beyonce, or anyone else who got any airplay at that time. But today? Absolutely not. Electropop is the worst thing to ever happen to popular music, and we have David Guetta to thank for that.

I respectfully disagree. I've heard him singing with no assistance. It's nothing to write home about. And you're right, he writes his own stuff.

"Baby, baby, baby, OOOHHHH".

Clearly, we have talent on our hands. -_-

Anyways, I definitely agree with you on Mr. Guetta. He should be ker-smacka'd.

"Baby, baby, baby, OOOHHHH".

It's been three years since that song was released. Get over it.

OT: Contemporary classical music is some of the most interesting music ever created.

Case in point:

I'm just sayin', is all. :) But that's why they're called "opinions" and not "facts". I certainly respect your right to disagree with me.

And you're right, that's good stuff right there.

I love you so much, that's my favorite band of all time!!! I've never ever ever heard a more talented drummer than Neil Peart, and I will say he is the best rock drummer of all time, and I will stand by that opinion for the rest of my life. Alex Lifeson is also a very underrated guitarist, he deserves much more recognition.

In Flames should either go back to their roots or break up, they're mediocre these days and they don't even have Jesper anymore. I just don't want to see them fade away.

In Flames is no way in hell going to return to their roots. I wish people would stop comparing their new output to The Jester Race.

Lunar Strain is better than The Jester Race and Whoracle IMO. But yea, you're right, there's no way they'll ever go back to their roots. Especially without Jesper.

They are all face-melting-good live. Especially Peart. Both of the times I've seen them perform, he literally made my jaw drop.

Keep wiping those tears with Lunar Strain

Though tbh the new In Flames is like the new Norma Jean, you either get used to it or you hate it. Most older In Flames fans will say that their newer stuff isn't bad and that the problem is just that it sounds different.

"DIS SHIT AINT THE JESTER RACE 0/10"

Since we've brought up Rush in this thread:

Pink Floyd > Rush

And there's my mildly troll-ish unpopular opinion

I'm getting into Arcade Fire. I know that I bashed them a while ago, but I didn't approach them correctly, so they ended up being boring. I gave them a new listen, and I quite like their stuff now. Really arts-y, refreshing and feels-y

Not sure if that counts as an unpopular opinion, but... yea

-Eminem is the only good hiphop artist.

-Rock and Roll is the best genre.

-The Beatles are very much worthy of their overratedness.

-Steam Powered Giraffe are the best EVER, so shuddup, 'kay c:

-My musical tastes are better than yours.

You do realize that there are hundreds of several Hip Hop artists besides Eminem, Lil Wayne and Drake? And that the majority of them are just that much better than Eminem ever will be?

Yeah, Eminem's kinda crap as far as rap is concerned. Yes, to his credit, he's better than many mainstream rappers, but the mainstream rap scene as a whole is filled with utter garbage.

Mainstream rap is really the only genre I can honestly say saw devolution. At the risk of sounding like a cane-shaking old man, mainstream rap was infinitely better 20 years ago.

Not to me.

I don't care for most of the genre.

I like how Eminem uses the English language.

His writing style is very eloquent.

He's also hilarious.

I as a Hip-Hop fan would disagree, I find that he sounds really whinny and tries to hard to make his music emotional, his humourous songs are just plain fucking stupid, and don't even get me started on his songs about cannibalism and murder.

Sadly, that only applies to Marshall Matters LP. He really went downhill from there

I have my opinions, guys. Get over it :D

You aren't going to change my opinion, so you might as well accept them.

You probably shouldn't really care about my opinions, either. I'm not all that important ^_^

It's one thing to like him, but it's another to claim that he's the only good Hip Hop artist as there's an infinite amount of talented Hip Hop artists out there. You're not basing your opinion on any facts

That's a good list and all but you've left out one:

ATM Death Grips would be my personal favorite when it comes down to Hip-Hop

So what I'm getting from this is you're allowed to post your opinion on Eminem but we aren't allowed to voice our thoughts on your opinion.

Sure

Your eyes are weird.

I never ever ever said that, ever.

I have no idea where you came up with such a statement...

You should really get those eyes checked :derp:

I'm basing my opinion on my opinion.

I'm not saying it's a fact that he's the only good hip hop artist. It's just my opinion.

Opinions are like belly buttons. Everyone's got 'em.

I'm not a fan of Justin Beiber or One Direction, but that doesn't mean I feel the need to blast them and their fans like some people do.

I like Heavy Metal, I also like Happy Hardcore and Dubstep and heck I even like country... it's really not as big a deal as it sounds...

Sometimes a remix or a cover can actually be better than the original, ppl should just deal with it.

I like genre mixes that probably shouldn't go together, like opera-metal, and country-rap.

I like Nickleback. I like Lady Gaga. I still like Britney Spears, and Madonnas music even if I think the singers themselves have done some really facepalmable stunts.

If I like an artist I like them for their music, I don't care what politics they are involved in.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Scrumpy is cider made in the West Country of England,[1] particularly a band through Devon, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, though it may also be found in Kent, Sussex and East Anglia. The term is especially used to distinguish those made locally in smaller quantities and using traditional methods from mass-produced branded ciders.

Trust me, if the forums allowed me to post more than 4 songs at a time, I would include Death Grips and loads of other great rappers
