craft Pony Plushie Test Run

My grandmother and I made this as a test run to see if we can even make plushies. It turned out smaller than I expected and just doesn't look right overall so I think I'm going to go with a different pattern next time or maybe even try to make my own. We had to stich it completely by hand because her sewing machine is like 500 years old and doesn't stay threaded anymore. (okay, so I exaggerated a little) It's made of just plain cotton fabric like bedsheets and she cut off some doll hair from one of her old dolls for the mane and tail so of course it doesn't look like any pony in the show, but that's okay since it's just for practice. I'm probably going to paint the eyes and cutie mark on with acrylic paint (if I can) because that's all we have. If we start making plushies for real, we may use fabric paint or pieces of felt. Anyway, I don't think we did that bad for the first time. If anyone has any experience in making these things, feel free to give me some tips or advice.

Now that I think about it, she kind of looks like Surprise.

Put fur on that clopper and profit. :3

I've heard of a lot of people using something called minky, so I might use that. I'm going to look at some other patterns (I can't find very many unfortunately) and when I'm sure of what I want, I'll buy some fabric and make one for real. I printed the pattern for this one on 1 sheet of regular printer paper so next time I may use 4 pages or more so I can make it bigger. I need to buy a sewing machine too so I probably won't make anymore for a few weeks.

Here's the pattern I used btw. Mane problems I have with it are the head doesn't look right being a part of the body, the ears should be turned sideways a little, the nose looks a bit too small and pointy, and the neck is too long.

Also, I don't understand why the pattern has the legs different lengths and with straight parts at the bottom.

Eenope. It was trial and error, but if I get good enough I might make one.

That is great! Make it into a test surprise! Some issues would be some wrinkling on the neck and the leg, and you might want to make the leg a bit smoother, but I'm looking forward to more!

Just found this Doctor Whooves on eBay. It looks like a similar pattern and look what it went for! I think with some alterations I can do one like that too. All I really need now is a new sewing machine.
