When a crown is stolen from the Crystal Empire, Twilight Sparkle pursues the thief into an alternate world where she transforms into a teenage girl who must survive her biggest challenge yet… high school. With help from her new friends who remind her of Ponyville’s Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy, she embarks upon a quest to find the crown and change the destiny of these two parallel worlds.

"Twilight Sparkle must survive being diagnosed with multiple horrific skin diseases for having a horn and purple skin in a school full of humans!"

Here's a link to the EQD post.

Somehow the idea of Twilight going off into this other dimension by herself seems pretty iffy to me, even if we'll be getting the Mane Six somehow anyway. Well, still going to be checking out what they do with the concept. Hopefully we'll at least get an interesting villain and some shenanigans out of the deal.

So....Twilight is now a teenager in high school instead of a twenty-something year-old college graduate? Sounds like a desperate attempt to pull in the Disney fanbase. AND she's the only character from the series that's going to be in the film? Don't they realize they're just devaluing all the other characters by doing that?

I never had any faith in this thing to begin with and that's not changing with this update. Let's just hope this flops and the creators learn not to make such material in the series' name again.

I think it could be a tad instersting if Twilight still somehow keeps her magic. She could have accidentally used it in school, which makes the students either afraid of her or be man to her.

I understand that they're trying to appeal to the older tween demographic, but lol this is a pretty strange and unexpected way to do so. Well whatever it might be good; I'm all for weird storylines as long as they're pulled off well.

Twilight should be a punk ass kid like I was in high school. I wanna see her grab a can of spray paint and just go nuts in the teacher's lounge.

Just editing my signature to say that my behavior on here was cringe. I don't regret the friends i made but man i was cringe here

Hoo boy. This should be very interesting. Luckily, I'm into inter-dimensional travel in just about any series and when it involves MLP, so I should be able to get right into it.

Arguably the biggest thing to observe will be how Twilight's "new friends" will compare and contrast to the "prime" mane six. Although they could all be similar physically, no two beings are ever the same and therefore you may not see one trait characterized as strongly as their FIM counterpart.

that portal must've done something to twilight's brain, too. because those are NOTHING like the mane six.

and... why is AJ wearing a skirt?

Oh my god!

I just realized that her friends are not with her, but instead she meets new friends that LOOK like her friends!

Man, this somewhat got interesting even more!

Maybe this won't be as bad as everyone said it would be...

...and change the destiny of these two parallel worlds.

For some very weird reason the first thought I had after reading this line was "Due to EqG plot, Twilight is going to lose her wings".

The more details I read, the more excitement build up in me. This thing aims to fly really high, and it will be THE thing for discussion for a long, long time after its premiere. Can they do it!? Hope so, I still don't see any proof that it is going to be a failure!

So far this doesn't look too promising. I mean all I need is an official trailer to see what the official artwork and animation will be. Teenage Girl + school is a big turn off for me so, hopefully EQG can redeem itself.

I've been wondering about this summary. Will Twilight's new friends have the same names as their pony counterparts? I think they'll have the same names, even though it would be more than a little weird for these "exact copies" of the ponies to exist in an entirely different world.

tIt has been confirmed that this will have nothing to do with Season 4, or the rest of the series.. So, no, Twilight  won't lose her wings. AKYL.

This doesn't match up with what I read originally. The initial announcement said Celestia sends the mane six to another world. Am I the only one who suspects this new announcement may be wrong?

But this and the newest update contradict each other. If the plot of EqG has nothing to do with Season 4, then how can it "change the destiny" of Equestria? I find myself in a paradox here. EqG changes destiny of the world while leaving the world untouched. What.

Is it a multiverse thing, are there two separate Equestrias, one Equestria with EqG precursors and a gateway to human world, and one Equestria of MLP:FiM? And these two Equestrias just happen to be perfectly the same until the point in time when EqG happens?

Unless, of course, by "change" they mean "maintain". Like, that crown is vital, and without it the whole world will just collapse, and it's up to Twilight to restore status quo and make sure there is no visible impact on Equestria. If this is the case, then I have no problem. Reminds me of Sonic Rush.

Damn spinoffs, your nature makes no sense.

It says the destiny of "two wordls", not a single pony. Let's imagine thta the one who stole Twilight's crown is a major villian, and that The Crsytal crown is a source of power. The villian is trying to do something to both of the worlds.

Well this is big news. Not only will the real Mane Six NOT be appearing, but if the others are natives of this world then that means that everyone else looks like they do as well.

I suppose that would make more sense than everyone being normal humans, but now we have to put up with more bad designs, ugh.

I'm not against the idea of Twilight attending High School or linking up with weird alternate-universe versions of her friends (and maybe herself) per se, but it seems like that's going a long way out of her way if she's trying to get the McGuffin and get back. I mean, she expects to be in this other universe for somewhere between a few hours and a few days. That's not even enough time to forge and file the paperwork to get into High School, let alone attend to any significant degree. And why would she want to get into High School anyway? She's been through that once already. Unless she needs the friendship of the not-Mane Six to open a portal so she can leave them. The High School part just seems aggressively unnecessary.

High school is Twilight's "biggest challenge yet"? She's fought Nightmare Moon, Discord, and King Sombra, for Concordia's sake. She solved the magical Macguffin at the end of season 3 and solved numerous problems over the course of the show, including passing difficult magic tests, (Trixie, anyone?) and high school is supposed to seem like a daunting challenge in comparison? One sentence into the synopsis and I'm already losing brain cells.

Oh, and alternate versions of the other Mane Six raises more questions than it answers. Will everyone on the show look like anthro ponies, complete with wings/horns? If so, why bother setting it anywhere other than Equestria? Why will Twilight go alone? Wouldn't Celestia and her friends try to do something to help her when they find out she's gone? How will she even get enrolled in the school without breaking SEVERAL laws?

Somehow I doubt the show will even address most of those questions. The writing is what makes FiM so special, and they're gonna have to pull a rabbit out of their hats to even salvage something watchable out of this. The nail isn't in the coffin yet, but every piece of information we get about EG moves me FURTHER away from "sold". The last time I got this bad of a vibe from promo materials was the Green Lantern movie. The less said about that, the better.

I'm surprised they don't just use her friends really, seems like it could be kinda weird..

Eh, i'm not getting my hopes up, but I'm not gonna say its gonna suck, I'll keep faith that the show writers know what they're doing.

I will say I'm still not a fan of the art style.
