First of all, I like Twilicorn and think it's been pulled off just fine thus far; can't blame the producers that they did the best they could with a shortened Season 3 since really, up until the end of the season, the show's future was up in the air (66-episode rule anyone?).

Second, "they used us" to popularize the show? huh.png  Really?  Nopony, including the folks at Hasbro, could've anticipated bronydom, and even though I'm sure they capitalized from the show's unexpected success with older demographics, you can't blame them for that or wag your finger at them; that's just how businesses work, they capitalize on success!

Third, most people who don't watch MLP don't spend their time obsessively hating others over it; THEY SIMPLY IGNORE IT ALTOGETHER!!!  Life gets busy, and people have other things to worry about than a kids' show unless they actually watch it and like it!  If you're still worried what people will think of you for liking MLP, then just don't tell people you watch MLP.  Problem solved. sleep.png

1.)  You're right about the 66 episode thing.  I absolutely agree with that, however just because we are glad that the show didn't end doesn't mean we shouldn't dislike the twilicorn idea.

2.)  Its not about them predicting the fandom to emerge, its about what they did with us once they were aware of its existence.  I know that businesses are supposed to consider profits to a very high degree, however there still are companies out there who care about their customers.

3.)  When you like the show, its sometimes very hard to hide it.

I honestly never understood why Twilicorn was as big of a "issue" as it was. I understand it is, or could be a big change to her character, but all characters go through change.

The only differences are her new title and wings. Nothing about her has changed personality-wise.

Could not have said it better. :) There is just far too much negativity from some people. Twilight has come a long way and achieved something great, we should be happy for her and happy that there is some major character advancement on the show. Twilight has not changed, she has just achieved something grand and I love it that Twilight has come this far. I love the whole Twilicorn thing and it is a shame seeing so many people pointlessly hate on it..

The EqG thing, we should also just be happy it is a spin-off, rather than direct canon. If it were direct, then I could see the worry, but only if it was done horribly. There is just too much negativity in the fandom...This post though, I likey. As well as some other posts above.

No I don't and honestly I wouldn't even care if it would get smaller. I don't care about it's size, I care about the show and I care about the people within the community. Although, people seem to also be whining about the fandom being to big and that noone is following love and tolerate anymore. I honestly can't understand why people care, I have already experienced all that drama with alicorn Twilight. We don't need another drama like that. EQgirls is not what will shrink our fandom, it's the whining and that drama that will. We have a lot of it, bunch of topics where people are whining about the fandom. Sometimes I wonder if anyone even enjoys being in the fandom anymore. I do, but many seem to dislike a lot of things within it, seriously, if there is something you dislike just tolerate it.. People can do the same thing here, people can just tolerate EQgirls instead of blindly hating it. It's very simple.. Love and tolerate.

I'm not in the fandom because of it's size, I wouldn't care if it only had 100 people in it. I don't care, all I care is that we have a nice community and people are friendly and open minded in this fandom, I care more about that instead of it's size.

Nice small community is better then a big mean one.

1)No, whether you like or dislike something is a subjective decision. You dislike it(along with others) and I like it(along with others) that's the way the world works, people have opinions.

3)Then way hide it? If someone wants dislike me, or judge for my taste in entertainment, then that's someone I obviously shouldn't be holding the opinion of in high regard.

No offense, but you need to calm the heck down. You're being so melodramatic it's putting Rarity to shame. It's just plain stupid to deny liking something just because of what someone else thinks. It's also short-sighted and selfish to call something "ruining the show" just because you don't like it.

So please, calm down, stop worrying, and try to have fun. That goes for everyone.

Best way to derail what I was saying, which actually had merit.  Look, I know you don't want me to express any degree of verbal passion over a show I like, but please disregard any heated emotion you assume is in the bulk of my text and consider it for what It actually means.

I have to worry, because I would be upset if anything terrible actually happened to the show.

Text is a very difficult thing to interpret, because we can't hear nuances and inflections. So while you may be perfectly calm, lounging in your swivel chair and eating nachos, the rest of us could be reading your words and seeing you pouting in your bedroom somewhere as you furiously type "I'M BEING USED BY BIG CORPERATIONS! I'M LEAVIN'!"

That being said, that's exactly how I read your posts. I don't know if you honestly meant something else - the internet leaves zero room for subtly. So if you're going to say something, be honest and forthcoming about it. Don't just say things with no emotional backup, since that leaves a lot of room for interpretation. And if not only me, but Batbrony and several others read your posts with the same interpretation, that generally means you need to go back and edit to make your meaning more clear.

Personally, I'm really excited about this. I don't understand why people are acting very childishly about this whole thing; I know that the show is important to people, I get that. But this looks like it could be good, or if not good, at least decent. Let's be honest: before we became bronies, didn't the idea of sitting down and watching pink ponies bounce around sound ridiculous? Would you have ever admitted to your friends that you watched "My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic" if the show was crap and not worth sticking up for?

I think the show is worth sticking up for. I don't care who knows I'm a brony, because it's something I'm proud of. Even if this Equestria Girl's thing turns out to be utter schlock, I'm staying with the fandom through thick and thin. Heck, I proudly support the Gargoyles TV show, even if the third season was rubbish! I'll stay with the fandom and keep watching MLP Seasons 1-3, because those are the episodes that I really enjoyed and made an impact on me. Even if the fourth season is horrible. Even if the movie is atrocious. I'll stick with the fandom and defend MLP no matter what.

I'm not assuming. You just said one movies was going to make you ashamed to like show. That over-reacting, badly, and you're in the process of biting my head of over it(abet, in a very passive aggressive manner).

Again "something terrible" is subjective, I think Twicorn is something good happening to it, you're entitled your opinion, I'm entitled to mine. The show has gotten more mature over season 3. We've gone from "treat others how you want to be treated" to learning about growing up and earning your place in the world. The entire arc was a analogy for growing up and spreading your wings, which a lot of us are in the process of.

Let me compare that first statement, I wear the fact I like Highlander on my sleeve as well, go look how stupid the movies in it's low points are(one is a direct to TV movie made by Syfy, for Luna's sake), but I don't let that bother me.

Good point.  Sometimes its hard to express what I mean without looking like I'm raging.  I tend to use a lot of descriptive words which may make it look like I'm venting.  The intent of these words is to help relay my messages though.

...  Its also kind of creepy how you knew I was eating nachos.

And that's true, but we should keep in mind that it is just a opinion. Which I try to do the best I can(unless the it's a objective problem, if a episode came out and it was just Spike starting the camera for 22min, then I'd say someone screwed the pooch).

Their probably bluffing XD. I don't think anypony (sorry) would leave the fandom because of something that silly and minor. If they do leave they will probably come right back. I mean give it a chance! Never judge a book by its cover :P (Clishe moment.) They may watch it and eventually like it!

Edit: Probably not.

Edit Edit: I saw the trailer and it looks kind of good.

This is how I feel. Nobody left after the whole Alicorn Drama. The episode was great, even though some were saying it was awful.

This Equestria Girls movie will be awesome. First Meghan McCarthy is writing this, so we know the writing is gonna be top notch. Second M.A. mother bucking Larson is writing the songs, and third all the orginal cast is coming back! If any bronies walk out, they're gonna miss one hell of a movie.

But, if they leave they leave. We gather more and more bronies everyday

Now on topic of the tread. I maybe sound a little crass, but I think of it this way. The fandom is just undergoing natural selection, and if these people want leave us alone instead of continuing to contribute to the complaining, let them. We'd be better off in the long run and so would they.

Wow, at first I felt reassured by reading the replies. But now, I'm not so sure. laugh.png But I guess it doesn't really matter if there are some dropouts, as long as the community won't die out completely. Sorry for over-dramatizing a potential non-issue. (is that even a sentence?blink.png )

I may just be speaking for myself here, but the very fact that this isn't canon is enough to make me not care about it in the grand scheme. If something knocks me off this train, it definitely won't be this.

That said, there's the inevitable few that'll dislike this enough to call it quits. I respect that, and I can kinda see their reasoning. But, the vast majority of us will remain unshaken, and we're gaining numbers each day. Our gains will eclipse our losses manyfold, I'm sure.

At the end of the day, there will be some, but not nearly as many as those who stay.

If the technicolor human world becomes apart of the show canon. I will leave the fandom. Because it won't be MLP anymore. I actually played Superman 64 and put it up on a pedestal; over this shitty movie

I wouldn't dislike Equestria Girls if it was just one long episode and I think other bronies would agree. Hasbro is planning multiple seasons of it though.

Bronies are in it for the ponies and without the ponies, why would we be bronies?

I do not fear for the fandom, as I will remain active in it, but I just hope that Equestria Girls does not leak into it like Littlest Pet Shop(which some trolls post on mylittlebrony.com all the time).

The Star Wars fans had to suffer for 8 years with the prequel trilogy with George Lucas. Now Disney hired JJ Abrams to direct the new sequel trilogy of movies. I know JJ will produce good quality work

The bronies need to suffer through EG. I honestly think this is a nuclear bomb that can kill the entire fandom. Again if humans are in the canon for the following seasons. I'm done

It's actually a movie, there seems to me no plans to make a show of it.

Also, do you realize you just complained about someone doing, what anti-bronies complain about us doing?

Oh no, you're right.

.....my eyes are lowered.

I had heard that it was reportedly a tv show with multiple seasons but I guess my information is a little outdated and was from the rumor stage.

We wouldn't be better off.  Many of these people you reference were dedicated members who devoted much of their time and effort to the show.  Its really disappointing that there has to be this much change in something that was good to start off with.  (Yes, I know this is opinionated, but that's the whole point of the forums.)

Not that I've seen. Most of the big-name fans just "moved on" to bigger and better things, not out of anger or hate for what was happening. Like Alex S, he still likes us, he just wanted to pursue a music career

I would also like to say a lot of fans bandwagon-ed with the fandom. The people who leave fandoms over things like spin-offs, or Twilicorn are like the people who threaten to un-sub from popular Youtubers because of "X" path they want to take their channel in.

Do these people have any right to leave? Of course, if they don't like it why force yourself into it? The part I do not agree with is when they leave over meaningless things people make big deals over. There is still gen 4 pony material being made. I feel it will be a long lasting trend, so just block out the parts you don't like (Kind of how some bronys block out clop material?)?

There are huge comic geeks that have their fandom of batman, Star Wars, etc. So I don't see the fandom dying off either. Genuine fans wont leave over something so small.
