In m opinion Halo 4 was a good game but it wasnt as good as reach and 3. i understand that 343 idustries is new to halo, but i still think it lacked a lot.

Does anyone else agree?

I personally love it, my best friend though...not so much. :P

I actually love both 4 and Reach about the same for different reasons: I love halo 4 in general, I liked the story, the gameplay is great, the assault rifle is no longer useless, and oh god dem graphics. In Reach I loved the fact that I was my own character, felt pretty bad ass. Gameplay and story was also awesome, plus the DMR wasn't so damn OP.

So ya, in Halo 4 I was only really disappointed about not being my own Spartan in the story, but it makes sense that I'm not since it's continuing on from 3. (Plus those overused DMRs! lol)

What I really dislike about Halo 4 is how blocky they've made the matchmaking. It takes FOREVER to get into a game, when it used to take maybe 45-60 seconds. I'm regularly waiting at least two minutes in Halo 4.

I was very disappointed in Halo 4. Partially because I believe 343 did a lackluster job on it, and partially because I'm kinda done with the series in general (though I didn't really realize it until after I had already bought 4). The Halo story had it's run, but it didn't need to be extended. The series in sort of headed in the same direction as CoD, IMO.

I had the nostalgia glasses on from H2 and H3 so when I first started playing it I thought it was great. Then the nostalgia glasses came off once I started playing Single player. The story seemed to be lacking and me being a complete Multiplayer Hero I was unimpressed with their map design very few that I played had very little symmetry and were not good for competitive play. Plus the fact that when I play multiplayer I would being the only one carrying my team was always aggravating (going 25/3/10) and losing isnt fun). The fact that you were almost forced to go with the DMR and not my old trust BR was another mark against it.

I just wish Halo 2 was still in the competitive scene because I believe it is still the gold standard for FPS esports

I am in complete agreement with the descriptions above of Halo 4. It is a good game but like I have said before you can only play so much of the same thing until it just loses its originality/fun level. For me I honestly agree with all the statements above.

Completely.

The story was new and interesting, but for some reason, it pissed me off to no end the shit Chief got from so many people. I know he's not this perfect hero and that he is a human under all that armor, but the rallying felling I got from Halo 3 was really missed. The only moment in the story I felt a true tug at my heart was at the very end, when Chief said "She said that to me once. About being a machine".

Loadouts and Ordnance drops felt much too Cod-ish, and while I get the intent behind them, it felt way off in gameplay. It's all about moving as fast as you can now, with instant respawns and power weapons just flying everywhere. Vehicle combat hasn't felt more off in such a long time. All I ever see are Warthogs untouched because they are pretty much a free kill.

And these multiplayer setlists..why? What happened to the Halo 3 ranking system that, while not perfect, completely destroys this non-worthwhile current system?  And don't even get me started on that thing they try to pass off as Forge.

343 could have made this one special. They could have made a game that might have even surpassed Halo 3. But they didn't.

Man, for me, Halo 1 was where it was at... I didn't enjoy Halo 2 nearly as much and Halo 3 is right down there with Halo 4. Reach was okay, if not for multiplayer, at least for the story and Forge.

Here, let me just rank them...

1. Halo 1

2. Halo 2

3. Halo Reach

4. Halo 3: ODST

5. Halo 3 & 4

I actually really like Halo 4. I like that I felt that I was seeing more into the relationship between Cortana and Chief. The graphics were fantastic, the controls were spot on, the music, while a little different, was great. And I honestly don't see the problem with its multiplayer. It feels great to me. I can understand some of the things people don't like, but they don't bother me. I like it better than Reach.

While the multiplayer disappointed me I was impressed by the campaign. The story between the Master Chief and Cortana was superb, and never found myself bored with the campaign. I love how 343 is finally bridging the games and books together (something that Bungie clearly lacked with Halo 2 & 3, causing Halo 3 to be less than it could have been). The recent update has actually fixed most of my problems with the game, so I'm going to start playing it again.

My list:

Halo: Combat Evolved

Halo 4

Halo 3: ODST

Halo 2

Halo 3

Halo: Reach

Halo Wars

I hope 343 has learned from this game and will be more ambitious with Halo 5.

i originally got the game thinking that master chief was going to be a total badass all the time, but then, the ending, i loved the game till the cutscene, i did not even finish it, took the game out of my xbox and brought it back. i did not even get the achievement for beating the game, so yeah, gotta say the most disappointing game ive ever played in my life

Halo 4 is a game I didn't enjoy even a single minute of. That campaign is a numbered list of everything that could possibly go wrong in a shooter. The story is a war crime, the art and level design are uninspired, the pacing is whacked, and Master Chief x Siri is now a thing.

I wasn't a fan of Reach, but Reach is a masterpiece compared to this tripe.

Yeah, I didn't dig Halo 4 that much. I think the new direction they're taking the franchise is interesting, but it doesn't really feel like Halo anymore. I like the first one the most, and still play it from time to time.

You know, the only use I ever had for Halo was multi-player with my friends. The story was always sub-par to be quite frank, but they did do multi-player very well. I honestly will never understand people fawning over the campaign story though. The whole thing just felt tacked onto what was a great multi-player FPS, sort of like the campaigns in the CoD and BF franchise. Really, we play these games to shoot our friends, not for cheesy drama!

I'll be the voice of reason.

There is no doubt Halo 4 is a good game. The graphics on it are better than and other current game and the engine is either competing if not better than the Unreal Engine.

People don't like Halo 4 because it can't compete with the leap that Halo 2 and Halo 3 were. Halo was way ahead of it's time and now it's falling behind. And at least Halo isn't like Call of Duty where it churns out the same game every 10 months. Bungie and 343 were constantly changing there game and trying to create new things. However 343 choked and instead of exploring new areas like they said they would they made the game to how they thought it would be good. They didn't create ideas, they stole them. CoD was doing great so they jumped on that bandwagon and make it similar to CoD so people playing CoD games would jump ship and buy Halo.

The story was okay, but bad compared to the original trilogy. The multiplayer is god awful, they put so many elements into it and made it to were the skill gap is like the distance between your toes. In previous Halos it mattered if you could out-shoot your opponent, out-smart him, time which power weapon your team should get and set up around, which equipment to run with, and map movement and spawning. You had to work for your rank, not just play a lot.

Now, everyone has the same aim, you have to take into consideration what weapon they will spawn with because it will always beat the one you use DMR>BR (I like the new BR update but haven't got to play much, regardless you will still get shot all the way across the map with the LR and DMR and die within a second) irrelevant ranking, spawning WITH equipment and the BOLTSHOT, terrible maps with a bad spawn system implemented, always sprint and the notorious abilities to see through walls, static weapons, and grenade/shot indication. I don't know what to think of stopping power.

As above, Halo 4 is a good game, it's just not what it used to be and people don't like it for that reason.

Me? I hate it even though I play it professionally. I might even retire and just jump ship to Destiny.

Halo 4 was a good game but you can only play it so much until it gets boring. The graphics were great, multiplayer took long, and it felt really codish. I didn't mind the story though, it wasn't the best or worst. Halo 3 was better, especially with the multiplayer.

For me the biggest thing that ruined Halo 4 was how they made Forge. They didn't include Forge World in the maps available, and even thought they brought out Forge Island it was nowhere near as good as Forge World.

I thoroughly dislike the new textures for Forge items, and I also dislike the fact that they removed the windows from the 'Bunker, Box' building item. I was also hoping that they would include operable doors that could open and close either automatically or at the press of a button.

The only thing that stopped Forge being a complete disaster is the magnet mode, which solved the problem of items (usually wall segments) not fitting together perfectly when using co-ordinates. You know how they would sometimes be off by about one centimetre or how they would over lap even when you used extra special care to make sure they lined up.

Another thing that I dislike about Halo 4 is how they got rid of multi-manned air vehicles. Halo 3 had the Hornet and Halo Reach had the Falcon, I thought that both were superb vehicles and that if you combined the Falcon's steering system with the the Hornets weaponry, then you would have an epic vehicles. They also got rid of the Revenant. Now I know that Halo 4 was a continuation of Halo 3 but would it have killed them to keep the Revenant? I loved that hovercraft.

One more thing that was a disappointment was the hand-held weaponry that they included in the game, they got rid of good weapons such as the Plasma Launcher and the Spiker. They also got rid of my personal favourite weapon, the Focus Rifle. Man, I would just sit there in a Forge game annoying my friends to death by attacking them with it whilst say 'annoying laser, annoying laser' repeatedly, at which point they would pull out the grid and whack me with it. They also got rid of Armour Lock and Drop Shield which I thought were very useful tools to have. The Thruster Pack armour ability is rubbish compared with Evade (unless you decide to tweak with the laws of physics in a custom game).

The Grifball game type sort of got better and worse at the same time. They made it better by making the ball throwable and giving the Grifball and assassination animation, the same with the flag in flag based game types. But now I dislike how the gravity hammer sounds and is swung in the game. I preferred Halo Reach's method of using the hammer. The hammer's noise now is sort of like waaaa puuuu instead of Reach's BOOOOOOM noise.

In other words, was I disappointed by Halo 4? Yes, I suppose I was. Doesn't stop me from playing it though, in fact I might just go on it now. Oh yeah, I recently played with a guy called 'My Little Powney' or something of the likes, would that by anyone here?

@@zlogi, um, could you perhaps expand on why exactly you didn't like it.  Not saying there isn't anything wrong with it, but you just didn't expand that much on your thoughts as to why exactly it was lacking in the OP.

As for myself, I thought it was a great beginning for 343 Industries.  I'll start with the pros: the campaign/story is a solid entry into the Halo canon, delves into Chief and Cortana's relationship and individual personalities more than any of the previous games (making it by extension quite an original title in itself and a definitive beginning to a new trilogy in the series), the soundtrack was solid and the sound editing in general was amazing, and the graphics were simply stunning, pushing the Xbox 360's engine to places it had never gone before.  Spartan-Ops is a very original and unique idea, and the multiplayer has largely been a satisfying experience overall.

Now for some of the bad: if there's one thing I have to complain the most about Halo 4, it's that it gets repetitive.  The Spartan Ops missions, although original in concept,  were simply too similar in gameplay to have any really high replay value, multiplayer, even with DLC, has gotten pretty repetitive and predictable with time (despite overall being a fun and entertaining experience), and even the campaign has low replay value once you've beaten it on Legendary.  I guess overall, 343's biggest problem this first time around in the Halo universe has been seamlessly achieving that constant interaction with the community and innovation to the game that Bungie had mastered by the time titles like Halo 3 and Reach came out that kept those games constantly evolving and entertaining for the gaming community.  Is this necessarily a surprising fault?  No, not at all, and overall I'm still satisfied with Halo 4 and thought it was a riveting and epic addition to the Halo series.  But still, there's no denying that Halo 4, compared to earlier Halo titles, has quickly burned out its replay value; if 343 wants to turn that around, it needs to start really integrating community-made maps a lot more into the multiplayer playlists (which it has just started doing, but the list is still very limited).  Also, the next season of Spartan Ops needs to be far less repetitive for that game experience to truly reach its full potential as an innovative and highly entertaining addition to the Halo gaming experience.  If 343 addresses these issues, either now or for Halo 5, I'm sure they'll be fine and that solid Halo titles will continue to be produced.

I traded it for Portal 2 and Fallout: New Vegas with a friend. Look, Halo 4 is a good game, but as a new Halo gamer introduced to the Halo franchise by Halo: Reach, I don't feel I'm ready for Halo 4 yet. I'll make the tradeback some other day.

I wasn't a teen when the halos came out like my brother was so I wasn't expecting pure gold like everyone else here. its the fourth game, of course it isn't gonna be as amazing as the first.

The live is great, the only problem is that it decides to boot players and reload in the WORST situations. ie:

me about to assassinate someone

me about to jump on a mantis from behind

the enemy losing their shields

about to snipe someone who was owning us

it gets to me. CTF is fun though. and the IQ of some of the people on there is hsyerical. there was this one guy me and my bro just dubbed ' The moron" who ran in with a shotgun and didnt shoot me once. he then jumped into the wrong seat of a warthog to get away another time. he invaded our base at least 10 times and each time failed horribley. the best thing he did was throw a grenade in the wrong direction.
