gaming Controversial and Unpopular Video Game Opinions.

Queue the disappointment when you buy it and find out that the games only feature the Disney characters in minor, relatively insignificant ways. :P

Actually while I'm not a fan of KH most of the game is spent in Disney Worlds.

I'm quite disappointed how misrepresented Final Fantasy is, what with character personalities being changed, most of Amano's characters either being left out or unnecessarily changed (Vivi).

Vivi was changed? I noticed it for Setzer, but I guess I wasn't paying enough attention.

It's true that almost the entirety of the games is spent in Disney worlds, but they are nothing more than palettes and art styles. You could easily replace any Disney world with, let's say, the cities from the Pokemon games and nothing would be different in the over-all story of the game.

And you are right about the under representation of Final Fantasy characters, all we seem to get is the Nomura stuff. It would be nice to see some of the less popular characters make an appearance. But at the same time, I feel like the tone of Kingdom Hearts is already very close to that of Final Fantasy, so I'd prefer to see the Disney characters get plot relevance.

Also because of that Zach Fair clone Terra, there's a slim chance they'll include the green haired cutie from FF6...who is also named Terra.

They managed to work past it with Riku and Riku, so don't give up hope just yet.

Hold on now, if we're all bashing Angry Birds then that gaming opinion isn't controversial here. So stoppit. :P

Here's a couple of mine:

1. Combat system of Skyrim sucks. Seems like you just mash triggers.

2. Call of Duty is a broken game that needs to be ended just as quickly as Final Fantasy.

3. Assassin's Creed is amazing. People bash it because they don't focus on the plot. It's all about the plot. Always. This is one of many issues I could write essays on.

4. There will soon be too many Pokemon to keep track of. As good as the series has been, it's going to end soon inevitably.

5. Pokemon has a stupid name, but is an amazing game. Digimon has an amazing name, but is a crappy game/series/everything. The names should be switched, because I'd much rather have digital monsters than pocket monsters. Welcome to the 21st Century.

6. Stop all discussion about video game soundtracks, because I have the best list for you right here along with every single Zelda game. Yep, Legend of Zelda has all of the best soundtracks of any game.

7. Let's not talk Angry Birds here, but anyone could steal a flash game off the internet and make a cool app for it. It's all about appearance and marketing. Crush the Castle has their own App. It failed hard.

8. Grand Theft Auto series needs to end. It's the same game over and over with better graphics and a couple different weapons. Really, does anyone play GTA for the plot? No. It's terrible. People play GTA cause they want to run around and kill stuff.

9. Red Dead Redemption is Grand Theft Horse. Don't argue with this one either, you know it's true.

10. Console Multiplayer is essentially broken in variety. This is another reason why Assassin's Creed is amazing. Multiplayer games today on Xbox: Kill people in shooters. Alternative: Kill people to secure points. Check your K/D and obsess over it.

/endrant.

EDIT: I will be spending too much time here arguing, this thread is unsafe for my health.

Have I replied to this? I can't remember

Anyways, if I did, well, fuck it. I like GTA IV a lot, maybe not as much as Saints Row: The Third, but I still like it a lot (I know you meant the series as a whole, but again, fuck it), mostly for it's more serious tone which makes the game feel slightly more releastic.

Hmmm, comparing it to SR3, GTA is a lot more realisti by a long shot . Plus, I don't like how SR3 doesn't have multiplayer (Co-op dosn't count) while GTA IV does.

Can't wait for GTA V :D

Anyways, MOAR opinions (Most of them I may have said before, but I'm not gonna look for them :))

- I like Angry Birds (Compared to everyone else in here )

- MW2 almost became one of the best FPS' out there if only it wasn't plagued by 2 big problems

- I don't like Pokemon, at all

- Uh.......

- I thoroughly loved MW3......until late January :P. Then, shit started to hit the fan

Wow, I don't have a lot of opinions here

We have a totally different opinion in almost every aspect.

I sometimes play online multiplayer but almost only in racing and sports games.

My main motivation is to advance in the game and enjoy it's story. Multiplayer gets so repetive after playing a while and nothing changes at all

And steam is no devil. Thanks to the steam-deals I have now enough to play for a year :D

Yes, but you can only do what steam wants you do with your game.

Repetitive and boring multiplayer just means its bad multiplayer. Stories? lol? i dont think so. Nobody makes good stories in games anymore. I would enjoy single player more if people actually wrote good stories.

I highly disagree.

RTS

ok RTS and FPS.

Single player in multiplayer focused games is more often than not boring, yes. But good single player focused games actually put effort into making them good without relying on slapping a multiplayer label on it and forcing you to deal with repetitive gameplay because, "Hey you should be enjoying this if you're playing with friends who are at about the same skill level as you and willing to try out the more fun aspects of our gameplay."

Again,

Good single player games can be fully enjoyed, even if your internet is down/slow.

Good single player games can be fully enjoyed, even if your friends feel like they've got better things to do at the moment.

And most of all, good single player games put valid effort into engaging you in the game. (assuming you have an attention span that lasts for longer than that of a eight year old.)

I'm still waiting for a good single player story.

Ha... Ha... Ha... http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png

No, seriously though, you must be kidding. RTSes, platformers, puzzle games, arcade style fighters, even TPSes. They all require amazing skill to be good at. I won't deny that FPSes do require skill too, but the only real thing that set them apart from what I've listed in skill department is that once you've mastered one FPS, you've pretty much mastered all of them, and personally, when I put down money for a new game, I like to get a game that I don't already know everything about in terms of gameplay.

I'll admit RTS's do, but not puzzlers or platform games. I could see arcade fighters *maybe*. I group TPS and FPS as the same thing. Also being pro in one FPS does not make you pro in another FPS unless you think MW2 and MW3 were different games lol.

The only real valid fault the DS has is that the touch screen is rarely handled properly, but the blame for that lies with the game developers, not with the hardware.

no it's just big and stupid :]

I wonder if that problem would solve itself if they got rid of all tutorials in games, and made games shorter...

lol no. Tutorials and game lengths dont make it carebear friendly

Hacking in a lot of cases has lead to improved gameplay and/or reduced glitches, not to mention that smart game developers can take popular hacks that they didn't think of themselves and incorporate them into their games.

So, no! It shouldn't be considered a felony.

What? When has a game developer ever taken aimbot, chams or wall hacks and incorporated them into the game. They haven't and they have no control over the game as a result. In what game has a hack ever improved the game?

I'm still waiting for a good single player story.

That's funny... I don't remember ever mentioning the word "story"... ;)

I was referring to more unrestricted gameplay styles. Multiplayer games need to be very balanced and focused on a certain style or they're not fun. Single player games have a less tight restriction in terms of balancing and are allowed to be more free with gameplay styles.

Ohoho! You're teasing my urges to rant,

sad to say, I must resist them.

I don't think I need to spell out that those weren't the kind of hacks I was talking about. http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png

I was referring to hacks that add content, (New weapons in FPSes)

or hacks that do bugfixes, (many of the ROM hacks from the sonic fanbase, or evena fair amount of Minecraft hacks)

and there's hacks that make a game that little bit more manageable. (WoW's inventory management hacks)

lol no. Tutorials and game lengths dont make it carebear friendly

Getting late now, I'll elaborate on that one tomorrow. ;) Edited by Zhinzo

Back to my original comment, single player is boring. including THAT kind of single player. The only way single player could be fun or interesting would be through the story. There is no such thing as a free gameplay style. All gameplay styles are planned.

Those are the hacks I was talking about *rolls eyes*. What you describe are plugins or mods. Hackers are cheats.

It depends on why you are gaming. When I play a game I usually want to have an adventure(like watching a movie or reading a book), not to duel with other players.

And there are a lot of games with a good atmosphere that will stay in my mind for a long time. Fallout, Red Dead Redemption, Bioshock, Skyrim, Kotor2, Resident Evil4, Metal Gear Solid, Zelda, DeusEx:HR, just to name a few.

And the story doesn't even have to be great, sometimes if the atmosphere is right, you get really great moments besides the main story.

Sure I like to play CoD or sports games with my friends every once in a while, but if I play online multiplayer for more than 2 hours I get bored.

Well.. I for one think the Ace Combat series is great. Alot of people I know seem to disagree. I also think that wile battlefield 3 is a good game, Bad Company 2 was ALOT better.

I'm very excited for Black Ops II, but for the first time, it's actually not because of multiplayer (Although I'll be definately be playing that), but because of the campaign. I dunno, the fact that it's gonna be the first CoD game to go non-linear in terms of gameplay makes it look exciting. Plus, the fact that David Goyer, who helped develop the story for The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, is now the primary writer for Black Ops II, should make one interesting story :)

The only one that created the right atmosphere for me was Fallout3. Those other games didn't even come close.

MW2 and MW3, if I remember correctly, are made in the same engine by the same company while Blops is not. MW2,3,Blops and BF are all fps games that emulates the bobbing that occurs when you walk. Games like Cross fire and counter strike and various other games use the source engine which is less realistic and doesn't "flow" as well, but provides different gameplay mechanics.

The biggest differences between FPS's are usually the jumping, movement and sniping.

Activision hired a team of orangoutangs to design a series of games. Around the same time Activision hired a separate team of chimpanzees to create a series of games. These games became very popular with prepubescent 12 year old boys who somehow all owned mics for their systems. These games were dubbed Call of Duty.

Come at me.

I think thats how everyone feels before they play the game.

Also, Kanto is actually more unoriginal. Look at the pokemon.

Ponyta evolves into ponyta with a horn.

Doduo, add one head.

Diglett, add two digletts

Magnemite, add two magnetite,

Vortolb, swap the color then make it bigger.

Do I need to go on?

I've played Black and White. The games are excellent games, some of the best Pokemon games I might add, but the Pokemon....not the biggest fan of them.
