gaming Pokemon X and Y Discussion Thread

So I found this on Pokebeach. What do you guys think?

Fairy will be a new type. It is weak to Poison and Steel, immune to Dragon, super effective against Dragon, Dark, and Fighting, and Fire and Psychic-type Pokemon take half damage from it.

Sylveon is Fairy-type. Some older Pokemon will be reclassified to Fairy, such as Mawile (Steel/Fairy).

Mewtwo has two new formes, not just one. Both are activated via items.

The professor’s English name is Patrice.

The Starter final evolutions are Fire/Psychic, Grass/Dark, and Water/Fighting.

The first Gym is Bug, the second is Fairy, and the fourth is Fighting.

A few attacks will be dual-typed.

There will be a new type of battling style that Flying-type Pokemon and Pokemon with Levitate can participate in.

You will be able to see a Pokemon’s EVs at a certain in-game facility. You will be able to boost the EVs through mini-games. It will take about two hours to get one stat to max EVs.

My jimmies are a bit rustled by the new fairy type. But I'm excited about the new EV boost thing, gonna whoop some fairy tail with mah dragons and dark types. Oh, you'll see. I live by the sword and I die by the sword.

There will also be something called "Hoard Battling", where one of your Pokemon (I think) fights about five wild other Pokemon. It seems pretty cool. Also, I heard that the "Sky Battles" will be much tougher than average battles.

I'm super excited for this game. though there's  not much I can to the fairy type discussion.

it seems like there's gonna be some dragon type pokemon early in the game which would break convention with prior games. I guess with fairy type, they won't plow through everything.

if there's no ghost/steel type pokemon, I'm gonna be sorely disappointed

I am very impressed with the new battle systems below

..........to be honest this makes the game harder and I am surprised why Nintendo needs to toughen up players

If true, I like the Starter's final types. I'm still picking Chespin, but it'll be even epicer.

I never really cared about EV training, Strategy has always worked well for me (Except in online battles...). I'll stick to Eevee training.

Dual Type attacks sound cool, adds a bit more into the mix.

Eh, not really. I'm pretty sure Nintendo has gone on record to say that these are being put in to even up the field a bit.

So, people who go out of their way to get the strongest Pokemon possible at the beginning of the game will have a huge disadvantage. Currently, you can use Power or Strategy.

Let's say you have a Charmander, and you're fighting someone with a Mudkip. Charmander IS weak against Mudkip, but if Charmander is strong enough, it can take out Mudkip in one shot. Horde battles require you to think before acting.

Plus, it IS a Wild battle, and it is France, so you should be able to run from it. ;P

I do wonder about 2 things though...

This is the Summary screen, look at the bottom, see the Ribbon in the icon? Why is that there, Ribbons weren't used in Gen 5, except for showing ribbons obtained by Gen IV Pokemon, and they hide that screen unless the Pokemon has a ribbon. Also, what's that Pentagon shape above the Ability title? It doesn't match the icons on B2, and it's centered instead of right aligned like the others. Are contests coming back?

So shiny hunting will be easier? YAY!!

Im really glad to hear that EVs will be easier to keep track of, and may be even visable.... And also that there is more complexities in the battleing.... and the best part, they come out like a week b4 my B-day. :)

That didn't occur to me- but you are true!

~screams with delight internally~

But they might lower the chances of getting a shiny even more due to the Hoard Battles. :o

Yeah, this is looking good! I'm hoping that the new battle types will make it more challenging and interesting for people who are better at the game.

Wow!

Pokemon X and Y look pretty promising since, we have seen the trailers and know what we will expect in the game. Can't wait!

It's good to see people so excited about the games! Stick around to be up to date on all of the news! wink.png

As a fan and user of dragons and dark types, I feel oppressed. I also feel that steel types are at an unfair advantage. We must revolt against the fairy devil. lel

I REALLY don't like Sylveon. Fairy types sound lame and that deer thing for X (Can't spell it's name) looks nothing like a fairy. Oh yeah, another reason why I hate Sylveon:

Come on, Sylveon isn't that bad! Although, why it has man made items (Ribbons) on it is beyond me... huh.png And yeah, Xerneas looks nothing like a Fairy, but neither does Jigglypuff, and that's being made into a Fairy type.

I agree, most Steel types are at quite an advantage. Although, a tonne of defense isn't always that useful, but then again, a tonne of attack is! In terms of type weaknesses, Steel types are resistant to 11 of the 18 types and they're immune to poison. But on the other hand, they are weak to Fighting, Ground and Fire, which are all common types.

You said that as if early Dragon types are a bad thing! happy.png That new Dragon/Flying type they're releasing, Noivern, looks cool to say the least!

is noivern the zubat of this region?

here's something I find kind of funny. if altaria really is gonna be dragon/fairy, it's gonna be immune to dragon but weak to fairy

Weak to Poison and Steel huh? If I recall, those are the two types that are super effective against the least amount of types, so it was really about time they got a buff.

The Starter final evolutions are Fire/Psychic, Grass/Dark, and Water/Fighting.

YES! FINALLY NOT A FIRE/FIGHTING TYPE!

The other typings actually sound pretty neat, though I'll have to see the evolutions first before I decide on which starter I'll go with. Though, if these typings are true, it means that each starter is both weak and strong against it's opposite type wise.

So, guys, what are you all thinking of the new Steel and Ghost type Pokemon, Honedge? It looks pretty cool, I must say. An animation where it unsheathes itself with that cloth hand would be awesome! I think it'll be an interesting Pokemon and it may even have some backstory to go with it!

@,

At first i was like, "Oh it's just a sword that's stupid." But then I realized it's typing. Ghost/Steel. That's three immunities and possibly eight resistances since it's not confirmed that steel resists fairy. Holy shit! The only thing super effective against is fire and ground! And seeing as it floats off the ground it might have levitate meaning it is immune to ground as well! srlgfjaflawijfoa I wan this pokemon

He is looking pretty awesome. The amount of immunities and resistances might make me consider this guy! The problem is, which famous sword should I nickname him with. huh.png

Why have I not posted here yet....

I'm so freaking excited for this game, like so excited. I already have chosen Fenniken as my starter, because who doesn't love a fire fox.  Still need to pre order it though...

These new pokemon are really looking cool. Hopefully they have more ideas and don't make another garbage bag....

Yeah, I thinks that is all I have to say for now...

Prepare to be amazed

I most certainly am!  ^_^ But, now to get back on track. Has anyone here pre-ordered yet? I will be quite soon. To be honest, I haven't heard people talking about X and Y at all. Black and White were the main conversation topics in my high school 'nerd' group but now it just descends into petty CoD arguments.  >_> I don't even play those. Pokemon all the way!
