movies/tv Movies that you require people to watch

Lost

Recommended Posts

I loose respect for people for not having seen certain movies (Y'all probably think me a dick for that), what movies do you expect people to have watched?

For me I loose respect or anyone who hasn't seen:

Pulp Fiction.

Forrest Gump.

Avatar.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

And The Matrix Trilogy.

I don't mind if they don't like them, solong as they have seen them

Forrest Gump is basically my only one. Seriously, if you haven't seen that movie you probably don't even deserve to live. It's the definition of a perfect film, with it's equilibrium of comedy, seriousness, feels, story, action, drama, and anything else you can think of.

U-uncle... I-I don't deserve to live? ; -;

I can't really say I have any movies like this. I don't understand the logic behind losing respect for someone over something so trivial.

However, if someone calls themselves an anime fan... I suppose I get a bit upset if they haven't seen some of the really good ones out there that all the otaku have seen. So perhaps I can't relate to the thread because I'm simply not into movies.

The Thing(1982) should be on the list as well. So many people talk about how they are fans of horror movies, and they haven't seen the true classics. That movie did so much with the limited technology it had for special effects.

Nah, I'm kidding. Not only was I just being a cheeky bastard, but I'd never say that to you D:

*hugs*

I'm not even that big into anime, but this bother me too. If you've only (S-see, Plum? B-baka) seen Full Metal Alchemist and Naruto, I don't think you really qualify as much of an anime fan.

There's only one movie I will make you watch if you haven't already seen it: THE BIG LEBOWSKI

However, there is a list of movies I STRONGLY recommend.

The Dude's mostly inclusive list of really should watch movies in no particular order:

Pulp Fiction

Mad Max

Forrest Gump

Saving Private Ryan (if you're into dem war movies)

The Silence of the Lambs

Alien

The Evil Dead

2001: A Space Odyssey (if you're up for it, cause it's out there)

The Mummy (the really old one with Boris Karloff)

Night of the Living Dead

A film that is so good that absolutely everybody needs to see it? I don't know, really, I guess maybe only one.

The Star Wars Christmas Special.

No, seriously, I'd say that the first three Evil Dead movies would count as this for me as well as the Matrix trilogy (Even though only the first one is actually worth watching).

Other ones that people must watch is Toy Story, Star Wars, Forrest Gump, and one of my favorites, The Truman Show.

Pulp Fiction is near the top of my list. As far as Tarantino stuff goes, Reservoir Dogs is on the list, too, but not as much as Pulp Fiction.

The Prestige is on there, although I don't really lose respect, because not many people seem to know about it. That makes me lose a little more respect in our culture as a whole, though.

But Star Wars is the big one. I mean, c'mon, it's fucking Star Wars. You HAVE to see them all at least once. At the very least, the original trilogy. Same with Indiana Jones. Everybody needs to see Raiders of the Lost Ark at least once.

At the top of the list it is Star Wars. How can you not see Star Wars? Right under that it is tied between any Tarantino movie and the LOTR trilogy.

I think everybody needs to see The Shawshank Redemption. Seriously.. if you haven't seen it yet, drop what you're doing and go watch it! There are plenty of other films that I love, but this one holds a special place in my heart.

Honestly I can't say any, because honestly I don't watch many movies, or as many as I should. Honestly I hardly watched any movies back when I was homeschooled. Which was until 8th grade. So I haven't seen many.

So yeah, I also don't have alot of people to go see movies with(Actually really non at all besides family).

So yeah I can't say any because I'd be a hypocrit having not seen like any of the movies there...

*Hides* Don't hurt me :(.

My all time favorite movie is the Korean revenge-thriller Sympathy For Mr Vengeance and I feel like anyone who appreciates good movies should watch it but I haven't encountered another person outside of anonymous image boards who has even heard of it unfortunately.

FYI it's by the same director who made Oldboy which is fairly well known, so if you liked that, please check it out. You will not be disappointed.

I haven't seen Pulp Fiction to be honest.

My favorite movie trilogy is the Lord of the Rings, so I think people should watch that cause it's amazing.

Watch it, find some way to watch it, pirate it, buy it, love it, live it!

I'm going to have to say Scarface (even though thats hipacritical because i just watched it yesterday.)

Other ones that people must watch is Toy Story, Star Wars, Forrest Gump, and one of my favorites, The Truman Show.

Monty Python and The Holy Grail is the minimum requirement to be a human in my book.If you haven't seen that--or any other Monty Python movie/skit--then you're not really living.

Oh god, i cant believe i forgot Holy Grail, Life of Brian and The Truman Show!

What the hell is this? Nobody here has mentioned The Room yet? What are you guys, actually serious about movies? Outside of that wacky classic I think everyone else has nailed the movie list pretty well.

For me, it's:

The Godfather

The original Star Wars Trilogy

Pulp Fiction

Taxi Driver

And at least *one* film by either Alfred Hitchcock or Stanley Kubrick.   These are the movies that have influenced filmmaking over the last 40-50 years and are almost a requirement for any kind of dialog on modern filmmaking.

^This. The Thing is my favorite horror movie.

Also, Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Star Wars.

That is all. They're just great movies.

Even though it's pretty old, people should watch 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'. I don't care what people say it's still one of the best films I've seen. Just an absolute classic with one of the most iconic characters. This is one of those rare times I prefer the film to the novel. And the ending always gets me.

I do not lose respect for those who have not seen the movies I like. That's just being petty. I do encourage my friends to see certain films, however. My list includes:

  • Tremors
  • Evil Dead Trilogy
  • Human Centipede
  • SAW
  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre
  • RUBBER
  • Summer Wars
  • HOUSE "Ding Dong You're Dead"

I've yet to see Pulp Fiction, but I've wanted to for awhile. It's on Netflix so I guess I'll just have to sit down and have a viewing sometime.

The rest I've seen, well except for Avatar, I dunno I'm just not a huge SciFi fan and the story doesn't seem like something that could hold my attention enough. I'll just watch Dances with Wolves and change the hue on my TV so everyone is blue

Let's see, I freak out if people haven't seen IT or the Shining or really any Stephen King movie adaptation. I also demand people see Step Brothers at least once.

I see quite a few films here I have not seen, and have no intention of seeing in the forseeable future. This is because I do not watch films that often. However, I would strongly recommend the Monty Python films, as well as The Italian Job (Michael Cain!!), Dark Crystal, and Morons from Outer Space.
