gaming Most memorable video game character in your opinion

In your opinion, who is the most memorable video game character? They can be memorable for any reason, and I'd prefer if you explained why they were so memorable for you.

For me it would probably be Thomas Zane from Alan Wake just because of his unique design (A diving suit) and that catchy song on the soundtrack which contains spoilers, meaning if you haven't played Alan Wake (And beaten it) you shouldn't listen to it.

That and his wise dialogue and the fact that his voice actor does an absolute superb job in the role.

Who would it be in your opinion?

Out of the games that I have actually played myself, I would probably have to say John Marston from Red Dead Redemption, I don't know why, but I just feel that having spent so much time with his character, only to have him killed off in the end is a cruel twist, but one that definitely stuck with me.

Games i've seen playthroughs of...I would either say Lee Everett from The Walking Dead game, or Joel from The Last of Us, I really can't choose.

Then of course, a game I have never played in my life, nor seen any videos of but still know about her in good enough detail - GLaDOS.

I really, really can't decide though...but it one of those.

img-1796426-3-wBKtbPh.pngI've been watching you, all this time.

I always try my best to find the underrated, so as much as I would like to post any other big name franchises in the list, my vote goes to Ico from Ico.

206624-ico_pic01.jpg

Reason why is due to his unique personality of which he had to be sacrificed, which then he escaped, and found a princess who was also going to be sacrificed, and he had a good heart of helping her out and escaping the castle to avoid a deadly fate.

The boy risks his life to save her and has been a great memorable character in my opinion.

Second, I have Wander from Shadow of the colossus.

Mono_and_Wander.JPG

This man did not take no for an answer, and took his dead wife to a forbidden land in hopes of saving her life. In there, he finds a spiritual demon who promises him that he can restore her life if he slays 16 colossus, he agrees, but unknown to him, a huge life threat will cost his life.

He is as well memorable for a man who did nothing to stop her, as he suffers more and more with each colossus he kills, he sacrifices so much in return, that the ending is truly messed up showing what he had to suffer for her.

PS: Try these games, they're amazing, underrated, and one of the greatest games ever.

And for all the wrong reasons.

I don't think I have to explain. Anyone who has played Pokemon knows him, and most hate him.

Even though he is a total pimp with his corvette and cheerleaders at the age of ten, he can be very annoying.

At least you can call him whatever you want due to Prof. Oak's absolutely horrible memory in the game.

For all the wrong reasons you are correct.

I do remember him from G1 pokemon, however, I do believe the word you are looking for is "infamous" rather than memorable for the wrong reasons.

I would have thought that Infamous could mean "Memorable for the wrong reasons." Oh well, either way, he is being memorized for his inconvenient appearances in games, which I guess makes him infamous. I don't know...

I think Pikachu would be a good mention. He's like one of the most iconic characters in Nintendo. Aside from Mario which is also a good representative of being a memorable character in a video game. Pokemon is huge in Japan, and is getting bigger in North America.

He's the only Pokemon that still stays along Ash in the show too. Pikachu is definitely memorable for it's cute appearance, and loyalty.

I would of said Link from the Legend of Zelda, but some people think Link's name is Zelda.... >_>

This is an easy one.

mario.png?w=343&h=349

He's only the most well known, most recognizable video game mascot of all time. I have a lot of fond memories of this chubby plumber and his wacky adventures with his younger, (yet more preferable) brother. I will honestly always love the Super Mario franchise. There's almost nothing that'd stop me from playing these colorfully whimsical games biggrin.png

One of the very first video games I ever played was Super Mario Bros. 3 (Super Mario All-Stars) on the Super Nintendo. I remember being forced to be Luigi, even if I was the elder. I didn't mind. Luigi has always been my favorite happy.png Me, my little brother, and my dad would play these games all the time, and we'd have a blast. Mario, Luigi, and the rest of the crew have made my childhood a relatively happy one. Nintendo never fails to make me smile smile.png

I'm gonna have to go with Final Fantasy X's Tidus.

Memorable to me for that infamously awful laugh scene just before you leave Luca and because of how emotional the ending was. He's also no slouch in the Blitzball minigame which I played the hell out of, but there's better players out there than him, like Larbeight and Brother, although Brother's more of a midfielder towards the higher levels.

Hmm... do I go with "most obvious" or "my favorite"?  Most obvious would be, for me, Pac-Man.  My favorite memorable character, though, is GLaDOS.  She's downright scary. :)

One of the ones I think is rather memorable is GlaDOS from the Portal Franchise:

Glados.png

(So mean. c:)

and Midna from The Legend Of Zelda Twilight Princess.

I only recently started playing it but she seems rather interesting as a character.

I have to start with one sentence "Do a Barrel Roll!" The only reason Peppy from Star Fox 64 is memorable. But let's really begin!

Laharl from Disgaea: (Hour of Darkness): The entire game revolves around him. He's quite the dynamic character as well as he comes from being angered by stimuli such as bigger breasts on females, and scoffs at the idea that friendship and harmony could exist. And then an assassin from the world of angels (the main character is a demon) named Flonne sparked changes in him as Celestia's request that Twilight earn friends changed her. It made him more amiable and more accepting of stimiuli. And always GLADoS.

But...

Borderlands_Mordecai_by_kraytos.jpg

This guy. Mordecai from Borderlands.

He's quite the psychotic deranged killer, discernable from his dialogue. He also is quite humorous with his lines. for example one of his lines when he opens a weapon chest:

"So you wanna share huh???"

It simply has to be the nine mercenaries from Team Fortress 2.

I've said this before, but TF2 is my favorite game of all time, and that reason is mostly because of the characters. They are all different and unique.

We got the Minigun wielding Heavy...

Being healed by the insane Medic...

Next to the patriotic american Soldier...

Shooting the mysterious mumbling Pyro...

Behind the sentry of the calm, smart Engineer

While the fast talking Boston Scout...

Duels the angry druken Demoman...

About to be stabbed by the Sneaky, sly Spy...

While far away is the professional assassin, the Sniper.

No other video game characters have come close to the connection I have with these guys.

I wouldve included these myself. The Sniper and the Pyro in particular. They're both somewhat insane, (the Pyro obviously moreso),

Why, Theoretically Blind Bob of course!

post-11173-0-31465800-1372908948_thumb.png

Zoë: But what about that whole being blind thing? That can't be good.

Blind Bob: Oh, that? It's theoretical.

Zoë: Theoretical?

Blind Bob: I could've been blind. Had an accident with a chemical spell when I was a wee lad. Near burned me eyes out.

Zoë: But – it didn't.

Blind Bob: No, no, not at all. Missed Blind Bob's face by a mile. Could have burned me eyes out, mind you. Could very well have. So I'm theoretically blind. Of course, "Theoretically Blind Bob" is no proper name for a beggar, so I just use "Blind Bob" nowadays.

happy.png He's just theoretically blind.

Oh, and the space cube from Portal!

Irving Vold Valeria. If you've played and beaten Wild Arms 2, you know why.

Riku from the Kingdom Hearts series is a close second though. Can't wait for Kingdom Hearts 3. <3

Pikachu without a doubt for me because Pokemon yellow was the first game I ever really played as a kid and beat the whole thing numerous of times.

Jak & daxter also hold very memorable to me as well.

All the characters from Kingdom Heart if there was ever a series that I loved it was kingdom hearts.

I absolutely love The Boss, she's great because she's a strong female character who doesn't get by on having massive boobs or being super sexy. In fact, I can only see her as completely non-sexual.

She's also made great by amazing voice acting and animation.

The first one to come to mind for me is this beast right here.

X1_zero.jpg

The reason he's so memorable as a character is because of his introduction and his significance in the first Megaman X game. Upon his introduction, he defeats a character you could not beat no matter how hard you fought, how long you fought in the blink of an eye, forcing him to escape. To the mind of the medium Freedan junior, that left the impression of Zero being the ultimate badass. Then he goes and tell X that as he is, he's not as powerful as him, but that he will one day be as strong as him. THAT is what gives Zero so much significance. Throughout MMX1, you strive to grow both as a player and as the character Megaman X and become Zero, become as strong as he is and ultimately even surpass him. Additionally, his act of self-sacrifice in order to defeat Vile on the second round is not something I will ever easily forget.

And then, following MMX2, Zero becomes EVEN MORE BADASS when he starts sporting a lightsaber and you have the opportunity to actually compare exactly how strong you are by fighting the man himself (assuming you haven't fought the X hunters to obtain his parts, forcing Sigma to create a half-baked clone of Zero which is cut down like butter by the real Zero).

And then, the ultimate experience. MMX4 and 5, where you get to enjoy playing as Zero in all his glory. Without a doubt, he is my favorite character in my favorite game series.

Totally agree with you. The boss was my favorite character in Metal Gear and Snake Eater my favorite game.

Nevertheless Big Boss has to be close second for me. Just love everything about him too :)
