This thread is about Sword Art Online.

Sword Art Online is an anime about a VRMMORPG (Virtual reality MMORPG) in the year 2022.

Main Characters are: Kirito, Asuna, Egil, Heathcliff, Etc,

This is Kirito.

I just started watching this show on Toonami (Not sure if that's how it's spelled)

I've only seen the first episode, but it seems pretty good so far

I thought it was rather bad actually. A lot of it was kinda poorly written and the overall story line is kinda flawed. My main concern was how the main characters survived years in the virtual system without eating or drinking. Things along that line.

Want a recomendation from a non hard core anime fan? Ok here is it.

The show was very entertaining, engaging and took some awesome plot twists. The characters develop in a very good and almost plausible way considering the conditions they are facing and the mystery behind of whats going on its good enough to keep you coming back.

There is a good amount of romance but it doesn't get too cheesy and there is a moment the flashy battles go up to a height close to some very famous and over the top Shōnen anime, but surprisingly enough it all makes sense.

Its very fun to watch and will keep you glue to your screen.... thats until episode 14

Then it all turns unto a WTF piece of stereotypical crap. A considerable amount of weird stuff with a mix of some Japanese cliche and things that stop making sense or have logic at all.

Watch the first half enjoy it and think thats how it ends. You will thank me

Did you see all of it? It was explained in an episode in the first season. I cant say for the reason of spoilers but it does make sense in the end.

For what it is, it's certainly interesting. I like the show's idea of how virtual reality can impact our lives and could be more of a disaster than a fantasy if it fell into the wrong hands. I've only watched the first episode, I plan to watch the others sometime soon. mlp-pscrunchy.png

By the way, Klein is my favorite character. mlp-dcute.png

When I first saw this on Toonami, I immediately thought "This is gonna be good".

The whole idea of this show is what really draws me in. Who hasn't, at least once, wondered what it would be like to be inside their favorite game? To do things on a level not possible in out world? As a fan of mmorpgs, I'm really looking forward to how this continues.

Its not a bad anime, then again its not great. The characters are idiots, and the females are inept without the main character. But the action and soundtrack isn't half bad. Its just that the characters take it too seriously. Yes I know its a life of death situation, but its still a game. Plus the love triangle is... just weird. It involes the main character, a comatose girl, and a not really related to cousin. All in all its a -B.

I personally liked the anime, I just think it's way too overhyped.  In all honesty, the plot wasn't really that great.  The character progressions were a little better than average.

It's just like one of those songs they overplay on the radio.  You get tired of hearing the same old song.  People give way to much to the show and that caused a lot of others to dislike it.

Like I said, I liked the show.  I'll more than likely watch the next season to come out, there will be another season.  Hopefully it's better than the first.

I don't really care much for the show. It's not terrible, but it's not that good either. The idea of it is cool, but the pacing is bad, the characters can act very stupid from time to time, and it's full of plot-holes. The animation and music is very good though.

However, the first half of the show is much better than the second half.

Ah, Sword Art Online. An anime full of many things, both good and bad. Let's start off with the positive. Sword Art Online may not have the most original concept, being stuck in a video game and all, but it still managed to be an interesting show. Then you have the whole rescue Asuna arc, which was pretty cool. What Kirito did to the guy who was going to sleep with/marry the Comatose Asuna was awesome. That bastard definitely got what he deserved.

This anime grasped my interests rather quickly. Most anime tend to take me a few episodes to get interested in them, but I was hooked on this one from episode 1. I will admit that watching it a second time I'm realizing that it wasn't as awesome as I remember. Don't get me wrong, it's a great show. It's just that it's losing the new, shiny effect that it had for me. Despite loving the shininess it once had, I still enjoy this anime.

This anime has great openings, with decent animation alongside catchy songs. The first opening Crossing Field helped peak my interest in the show. I loved the song, and the opening animation was well done as well. The show features a decent roster of characters. I wish the show wasn't so rushed, as this anime had so much potential. For example, the entire first season could've been nothing but Sword Art Online. I would've also liked to see Kirito interact more with the characters in the show. For example, Kirito's weapon merchant friend. We only see him occasionally. He seems like an interesting guy. I was kind of hoping we'd see him some more.

Now I haven't read the light novels so I don't know how accurately the anime follows them, but I can say that I would've liked to see at least a little more of the Sword Art Online universe. Alas, they only gave half the season or so to SAO. That's not to say that Alfheim online wasn't good. It was a little strange though, seeing Kirito's cousin/sister crushing on him in both the game, and real life. I didn't know the show was going to make her liking him such a big factor. She seemed heartbroken when she found out about Asuna. Sure, she got over it but I still find it slightly weird that she had such a big crush on somebody she grew up with. I don't have siblings so I really can't comment on things like this, but I digress.

Anyways, aside from some clichés, and anime tropes this show overall wasn't really that bad. I'd give it a solid B. This show could've been executed slightly better, but remember that it also could've been made worse as well. I enjoy this show for what it is, and I'm definitely excited to see Gun Gale Online. (The next season, which has supposedly been confirmed.)

(I apologize for my poor review writing skills. I normally don't review things, so just look past my all over the place review. Thanks! :) )
