* le sigh* Captain John Mactavish from Call of Duty. HE WAS A BRAVE SOLDIER HOW COULD YOU DO THAT CALL OF DUTY WHY?!

And if it was Price that died... Be prepared to have a lot of tissues and tears.

:)

The only problem i had with MacTavish's death was that he nearly died in both Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 and then Activision thought "Oh, let's have him die again, but for real this time.

I am now going to show my exact face AND THE EMOTION THAT RAN THROUGH MY WHOLE BODY IN ONE SECOND at the exact moment that piece of glass speared through Soap's body...

Their are a few really sad deaths that stick out to me. The first one is in jack 3, when Damas, jacks father, died. I cried when he did and i still get teary when i think about it. The second one is in Read Dead Redemption, when John Marston dies for his family. I could hardly watch the final cut scene. Another really said death was in The Legend of Syro: Dawn of the dragon when Ignitus dies, Ignitus was a father figure to Spyro and watching him die to save Syro and Cinder made me cry. One of the ones that made me sob and i dont know why , was in world of Warcraft when i killed the litch king watching the final cut scene. The Litch King was a bad person, but watching him die was so sad.

I don't know that I'm the best reference. I'm a watcher far more than a player. The most notable death is Aeris' death, but even though it's effective, understanding the story, it's wholly necessary.

Last of Us had a couple times my heart broke.

Cat Lady has one I won't spoil at the end of the game.

GoW:

Dom finding his girlfriend in GoW 3, even though I don't know much about the story

Raszagal in SC has more power to it now that I'm old enough to understand what happened.

The end of Red Dead Redemption is apparently an emotional overload.

There's defnintely a notable one in SH3 that anyone who's seen it knows.

Silent Hill 2 has a tearjerker even though the death isn't really... happing in "real time" the story around it will eat your heart out.

I REALLY feel like I'm missing one from my list, but I can't tell who.

I've watched more games than I've played, so my memory is hazy, since I wasn't physically directing events on the screen, I'm probably not hooked as thoroughly. I feel like somewhere there was one that REALLY hurt me in the feels, though.

Oh, I have heard the events in FFVII: Crisis Core end up hurting the feels, too.

The saddest video game death for me has to be..

Dr. Avians death in Skullgirls (Peacocks Story)

Even though we did really know to much about him, it was still sad to see him die in front of Peacock. and It also showed that just because Peacock is a violent psycho robot girl, she still had a heart and cared about those around her. (her ending shows this well)

It doesn't get me teary eyed like some other video game moments in games like Gears Of War 3, Mother 3, and MGS4, but It makes me feel more sympathy towards these characters and makes them more likeable and even relatable at times.

I think the saddest deaths were:

1. Dom from Gears 3

2. Cortana from Halo 4

3. Soaps from MW3

But the almost death of Clayton Carmine from Gears 3 made me almost cheer :D

Well, we do have things called spoiler tags. They've been used in pretty much all spoiler-related threads in the past. I was expecting this thread to be the same.

Honestly, I did not know those existed. This is the first real forum I signed up for and I'm sorry for giving away that detail about Persona 4 and I didn't mean to come off as an @$$. But trust me, there is a lot more that goes on with the game after the event I meantioned.

I'd probably say Fable II when your dog died. I chose in the end to make everyone who died in the spire come back rather than my family and dog. For a long time I had an empty feeling inside me, and that DLC you can get to make your dog come back just didn't feel like it was my real dog.

That's the same decision I made. Even though I think it's the most honorable decision to make, I still missed my dog for a while ;~; And my family too, but, eh, they weren't as awesome.

I was actually sad when this character died in one of the Call of Duty games.

Modern-Warfare-2-Ghost.jpg

Another death that isn't really spoiler is just a random soldier in Zelda Ocarina of Time. It optional to witness the guy. After Zelda flees from the castle you can go to the back ally and you find a guard at his death bed. How they handled it was great, one of the most emotional moments in the game, and from a stranger npc no less.

It would definitely have to be the companion cube from Portal!

Nah, just kidding... But seriously, I think I would have to say

The main character from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2 (I cry every time)

I know it's technically not a death, but I still think it's pretty sad...

There are some other deaths in games, which dejected me, starting with...

Master Chief, at the end of Halo 3. To this day, it is the only scene in a video game to make me shed tears. And that's saying something, because I normally don't show much emotion. I'm actually disappointed that Halo 4 came out, because it takes away the entire point of that ending scene.

Sergeant Johnson's death in Halo 3, as a long time fan of the series, since all the way back in Halo 1, this hit me hard, especially since it wasn't at all expected.

This was pretty sad too. Sergeant Johnson was great!

The end of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is also a dismal scene, when Price, Mactavish, and Griggs, characters you've known from the very start of the game, are killed.

@,

Yeah I've played FF5 too

Gilgamesh Man I thought he was annoying until the end where he gave his life so you can have one last save point before fighting Exdeath.

The Chrono game series had some deep moments in it as well.

From Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Definitely Rundas. The set-up was subtle but it hit the mark. He helps you out on a few occasions but then you end up having to fight him because of phazon corruption. I remember how I was in this sad panic when I was fighting him, screaming "this can't be happening" in my head. Oh and just listen to the theme.

For me.. not sure.. don't think I found any one particularly heart wrenching tbh.

hmmm Maybe Berri from Conkers Bad Fur Day. Wasn't expecting that.. was figuring instead he'd be there with her in his arms at the end or something oddly profane like the rest of the game.

At least finish the whole Matrix thing and have had him revive her.. but nope..

Mine would have to be gow 3 doms death. It was set up so well that when i seen it i had tears in my eye's. The moment that dom died was an eye opener and another reason to end the fighting in sierra

If it wasn't so expected than I might have at least had a "what just happened?" moment, but come on.. from the get go GoW3 was pointing at Dom being severely depressed after his wifes death in 2. Especially since he was the one who killed her out of pity and love.

At least in 2 it came off as an expected "FOUND HER!!! WOOOO!" only to find her and then have to see him put her out of her misery himself...

At least he got a decent death, but the impact was ruined by the excessive push of his depression from the start of the game :/

.... Sorry to burst this bubble but umm...

Chief didn't die.  I'm pretty sure that wasn't hidden either. He went into Stasis, and if you finished legendary you also see the ship heading toward a dark planet (originally presumed Onyx, but turned out to be the one from H4.

Huge Halo nut here :P

343 did a nice job on the engine and somewhat in MP, but their armor designs, and story were terrible :(

It literally destroyed the original story and had to re-write half the books to do it... I mean, Bungie wrecked 2 books admittedly with Reach, but they didn't even want to make reach!

Major spoilers ahead:

A lot of people keep repeating that Doms death in GoW 3 was one of the saddest moments, I actually thought it was a bittersweet end for him. I think the saddest death from the GoW series and probably the saddest death scene I have ever seen in a video game would actually have to be Maria's death in GoW 2. My god was that heart breaking. Here have them both:

Don't worry, it was already burst when the Halo 4 trailer came out.

Was it revealed in Halo 3 that he went into Stasis?

Either way, it was a sad scene while it lasted.

I teared up at the end of HALO 4. Just the way they did everything with Chief's and Cortana's story really got to me. It made feel as if I lost my closest friend, just as Chief did.

Yep, it was shown at the end of 3. He went into stasis and Cortana stayed there standing on the platform in the middle of the room. If you finished Legendary, as I said, it showed the ship then spiraling toward a dark planet... or was this whole section hidden in the Legendary ending? Its been awhile.   *runs off to youtube to check*

Oh hey.. looks like it was only in the legendary one... After the credits finished (gotta sit through them all) it shows a final Scene as it had in previous games.

H4 shows his face! >:)
