Have you beaten the original super mario bros.?

One thing every gamer has experienced and known for a long time is Mario, the icon of Nintendo.

He has been the mascot of the company with the most successful games in most of his titles.

His first debut was for the NES, being a launch title called Super Mario Bros.

Every gamer has played this once, and I know that by many, most struggle with it to this day.

I have the game boy advance re-release, and managed to FINALLY beat it a week ago!

After so many years, and I have finally beaten it!

Now, enough of me, my question to you is have you managed beat this game?

If not, what was the furthest you've ever made it?

PS: I hate the hammer bros....

Ive beaten it (without warpzones), but I could only do so when I was a lot older.

I had super mario bros. deluxe on the gameboy colour when I was around 6, but even with the hidden warp zones I couldn't manage to win. I used to get stuck at world 8-2 with the massive hole and the hammer bros. I doubt I would have passed through 8-4 anyway...

More than a decade later, I beat the challenging rom hack Kaizo Mario, which encouraged me to go back and finish the original game. I've also completed all the boo challenges (well, up to red difficulty anyway :P)

Well... I own 6 cartridges... I've beaten it on every cartridge...
Basically I can sprint without slowing down, I've played it too much. I think when I timed it I was about 40+ seconds away from the world record...
But I don't have the time to get a perfect time. Oh well.

Never. When they released this 25th anniversary edition for Wii, I bought it out of nostalgia. Actually, I'm too young to have been able to play it on NES when it was released first, but my aunt had one, so I could play it years later. I thought it would be easier this time. I was wrong. Never had a talent for platform games, so I rage quitted after about two hours ;)

The deluxe version? I want that one!

I heard that's the definitive version of the game, but I also hear it's just as hard.

Hopefully they re release this on the e shop.

6 versions of the game? Dang, what a retro gamer you are dude, I respect that.

Classics and retro games are my specialty.

Also, the world record? Sounds like you were close.

Yes, I have, it is sure not easy but if you want something that will really kick your ass try playing Super Mario The Lost Levels which is the original Super Mario Bros on steroids.

Fun fact!

That WAS supposed to be the second game in the series, however, they did the old switcheroo because they thought the game was too tough for Americans, so we got a re skin of doke doke no panic!

lol, yeah. I don't consider it Retro yet, but a classic, yes. Give it about another decade. xD

Yeah, my time was about 5:50-6+

Though... World record...

(not sure this is the actual record, but it's close enough)

Gives you a bit of a visual to what my run was like...

I remember downloading the original super mario bros game to play on a NES emulator a few months ago because that was the only way I could play this game. However I do own the new super mario bros on the Nintendo DS which I love. This game actually got me interested in the previous super mario games including paper mario

I've done it a couple of times. Most recently was this past winter. I had a day off from work, SMB 1,2, & 3, the ol NES, and a pile of junk food. I was determined to finally beat all three of them. I don't remember much about that day, I was in a Mountain Dew and Cheeto fueled haze. But I distinctly remember seeing Peach at the end of the castle and I jumped up to give high fives to everyone around. Then I remembered I was home alone... On to SMB 2! I did that before I found pony. There's no way in hell I have time to do that anymore, especially when S4 starts.

I've only beaten it once and I just happened to have either good luck or good timing that day.  Usually I can never even make it to the end.

Mario Brothers II, on the other hand, I've completed several times.  :)

Multiple times when I was a kid. I used to play it all the time until I could run through the game and finish it in only a couple hours. Not as impressive as some who can run the game in a few minutes, but it's pretty good for someone with weak reaction time like me. ^_^

I've beaten it with and without Warp Zones, but I will admit achieving it without the zones took me up until a few years ago. Eventually you just have all of the levels and enemy spawns and attacks memorized and it's an easy ride from there~

It's simple to beat after you find the warp pipe locations. In the second level you have to run across the top of the level to get to the locations. One pipe leads to World Four. And to defeat Bowser all you have to do is run under him.
