What If Magical Mystery Cure Had Been The Final Episode?

Ok so I don't know if a thread like this exists already but I'm curious. What if Magical Mystery Cure had been the show's finale? Would you have been content with the outcome? Would you have hated Hasbro for it? Would you hate Twilicorn if this were the case?

I wouldn't have been so happy. I mean the end of that episode was just screaming for another season to compliment it. I would have been a little ticked off at Hasbro for ending the show so suddenly and without moving further into the rest of the Mane 6's destinies.

I want to hear your thoughts on this ;)

Considering how much plot was just opened up because of Magical Mystery Cure, I'd say "HASBRO! WHAT THE F*** IS WRONG WITH YOU!" and leave the fandom (not really).

Seriously, while Twilicorn caused a bit of butthurt, I say it gives the writers so much opportunity to explore Twilight's character that I don't think they know what to do with it all.

I would have been a little annoyed or even angry. But, it wouldn't be that bad of a series finale. One could actually assume that it was the final episode if you didn't find out about season 4.

I would feel like it would have been way too sudden and poorly written out if that were to be the end of the series. I mean, the only thing that I see in the episode that would make it fit for an ending is Twilight becoming an alicorn, but that's it, and even that was not all that well written and planned out in my opinion.

There would still be so much potential left, and I would be really disappointed by that fact that Hasbro decided to just practically put up the breaks and cut off the series right there.

It's a good thing the show has another season or two to go. ;)

I wouldn't be happy AT ALL. One, that episode felt like it was too rushed. Having twilight as an alicorn and having the spotlight among her friends is bad enough in my opinion, but then to know that the show ends once twilight becomes the princess? When i first watched that episode I had the feeling that hasbro intended that one to be the final episode, especially how twilight flew into screen and said "everything is gonna be alright", but because of the amount of money they made they decided to extend the show and give it a fourth season. Idk if thats actually true but thats what it felt like to me. Im sure alot of other people think this way as well.

Dont get me wrong im glad that there is a season 4 regardless of twilight being a princess and being "more important" then her friends, but i hope they dont mess everything up. I know there is a lot of potential with the story now that twilight got this change but for some reason i think that season 4 is going to revolve around twilight which is something I never wanted. If they actually do that, then they should rename the show "My Little Pony: Twilight and her friends". We'll see what happens i guess  B)

Well I must say that it would not be impossible for it to be the end. I mean Twilight becomes a princess and she has her friends by her side to live happily ever after. It's kinda the perfect mainstream ending there could be. Though I would not be happy if it ended there, cause I think the whole episode was rushed and we didn't get to see enough of Twilight's princess stuff. Also, as I believe all of you other people would think too, it would be sad to see the show ending with no more new episodes.

Well actually it was initially going to be the end of mlp, but the popularity of the show made them push on to further.

However I believe that the episode was also not made the same as if it was the series finale.

It was meant to leave lots of stuff open, because according to a tweet or something I heard from one of the staff members the S4 two parter is like a continuation of S3's finale.

So If it was the end in its current state yes I'd be kinda mad.

Plus there is still stuff I feel needs to be tied up anyways.

Plus no more ponies make me sad anyways.

It'd be a fulfilling ending, but a little bit rushed.

I'd be happy with it, her becoming an Alicorn sort-of has already ended one part of the series and has made opportunities for new adventures and lessons.

All I can think about is the ending of Lost.  I would this it was rushed, lazy, and all in all, a stupid piece of shit.  Magical Mystery Cure was a wonderful episode, but if it was the last in pony history, I would be deeply disappointed with the show itself.

It really would have been a disappointing and poor way to end the show, not to mention baffling. Forget for a moment all the butthurt about Twilicorn, which I am on the same boat on. Hasbro spent so much time promoting and foreshadowing Twilicorn and making money off her toys, why would they cut off the show so suddenly when they have so much potential for marketing?

Moreover it wouldn't make sense for the writers to do that, except maybe the slight possibility that they feel that the show can't go on without the direction of its original creator Lauren Faust, but by the end of Season 4, the show had already significantly deviated from its original goal.

Also the whole series has so much to explore from all the Mane 6 characters, Spike, Celestia and Luna, Discord and beyond in Equestria and outside its bounds. Rainbow Dash's character only has begun to mature and develop, Applejack and her family actually saw meaningful if limited progress, and other popular or interesting characters not limited to Rarity, Luna, Spike and Zecora still have a lot of potential and fan support behind them as well as plot holes to fill up, like Nightmare Moon and Discord's new role. Short of The Hub deciding to cancel MLP: FiM, like Comedy Central did with Futurama.

It would create a lot of unnecessary uncertainty over the future of the show, and we have plenty of that over Twilicorn already. You don't want to end up like this:

fry-meme-futurama-cancelation.jpg

Yea perpetually planning for a final season despite your show having strong popularity and people screaming doom and gloom about the end of the bronydom. I'll resurrect you from the dead Fry, don't worry, even if I have to forcibly freeze you for a decade or so like Half Life and draw enough fans.

But yea back to the point about MLP:FiM, uncertainty would be bad, and considering the show's only been through 2.5 seasons, the sudden change could be very very bad. We've all seen how bad big changes can be, like when Stephen Hillenburg left Spongebob or worse yet when Disney bought out the Star Wars franchise. MLP:FiM isn't ready for that and I certainly hope nothing of that sort happens anytime soon.

It was a fairly good episode that really would have been a decent ending to the show.  I'm glad it wasn't though, because it felt like it something else needed to happen.  You can't really put a major change in the main character's life and end the show as soon as it happens.  There's also a lot of sub-plots that need to be resolved.  CMC getting their cutie marks, Rainbow Dash and the Wonderbolts, Discord and his new role, other places in Equestria, Applejack's parents, and a lot of other things.

Hmm...if it were the final episode I would feel sorta disappointed. If I really wanted to rage about it, I would murder an innocent pillow:

For me, Magical Mystery Cure was the episode that we'll all love in the future because of the plot lines it will have opened up. There's so much you can do with Alicorns, Princesses, Magic etc. that we will remember the episode as a good one, regardless of people's opinion of the episode alone.

If it the show ended there, my reaction would be this.

Magical Mystery Cure as the series finale would have been egregious. Although MMC had some elements of a series finale, it opened up new doors and left a lot of unanswered questions. If MMC had been the final episode, we would never have gotten to know if Rarity achieved success as a fashion designer, if Rainbow Dash finally became a member of the Wonderbolts, how Twilight ended up doing as a princess, etc. There were also many things to look forward to, such as the Equestria Games, or Discord using his chaotic powers for good. We wouldn't even get to see Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo's new relationship. MMC was also really rushed. With a series finale, execution matters a lot, and the last thing you want is for your series finale to feel rushed. I feel like if they drew the idea out through a two-parter or an hour long episode, and changed a few things, it could have worked a lot better. That's not the case though, and the MMC that exists would have been a rushed ending with no closure whatsoever if it had been the absolute finale. It's like you're a little kid listening to a story your grandpa is reading, and then your grandpa unexpectedly stops, gets up, and just leaves.

Ending the show at Magical Mystery Cure would've been premature. I'm very sure every brony would agree with that. There's still so many loose ends that needs to be tied and a few mor characters that needs to be explored till they accomplished what they set their minds to. Twilicorn still hasn't proven  she has what it takes to take leadership of Equestria as Celestia does so that would've been something they wouldn't have shown. The Cutie Mark Crusaders getting their cutie marks, explaining Equestrian History to it's core or even Spike and his origins.

It basically would have little closure to no closure for people to go off on.

Oh yeah, how could I forget to mention the CMC getting their cutie marks. That is one loose end that absolutely must be tied up. After 3 seasons of seeing the CMC trying to find their special talents, we HAVE to see them gain their cutie marks before the series ends.

It would have been a very large disappointment for me; I really do like MMC, and what I like about it would not be change if it were the last episode, but it definitely wasn't nearly long or well-thought out enough to be the absolute MLP finale.

I wouldn't have been so happy. I mean the end of that episode was just screaming for another season to compliment it. I would have been a little ticked off at Hasbro for ending the show so suddenly and without moving further into the rest of the Mane 6's destinies.

I want to hear your thoughts on this ;)

To tell you the truth, I would not be very happy with it. Yeah, Twilight just became an Alicorn, and you're just gonna end it all there? There's so much more that can be done! Besides, not sure if this is true, but Magical Mystery Cure was supposedly supposed to be the final episode of the whole series, a farewell, per say.

Gotta learn stuff through denial and error.

I would have been fine with it. I mean turning Twilight into an Alicorn seems like the perfect way to end the show for good and that's what I originally assumed was going to happen when they first announced Twilight was going to become a princess in the first place.

If that was the last episode, it would've been an "open-ended ending", not unlike the Powerpuff Girls conclusion Craig McCracken was only able to produce after the original run ceased.  We definitely have a closing of a chapter and a far-reaching 65 episode story arc but all the characters and their relationships are intact, thus their lives will go on.  Now the question is, where do we go from here?  If MMC was the end, we would only have our own imaginations to draw on regarding MLP:FiM's future direction.

I have a strong feeling that if MMC was the series finale, it would have been made into a two-parter and one of the other third season episodes wouldn't have been produced.  There just wasn't enough to it as a single ep to give MLP:FiM a suitable send off.

Oh, goodness no. I wasn't particularly satisfied with it as a season finale. Ideally a series finale will wrap up as many character arcs/story arcs as possible and MMC didn't do that at all. Suppose you could Twilight's arc at that point, but I wouldn't have particularly enjoyed even that, my misgivings about Twilicorn aside. The episode paid much too little attention to characters who weren't Twilight Sparkle to close the series satisfactorily, at least for me. Combine that with passing up opportunities like seeing Lightning Dust again, Dash's maturation into a Wonderbolt and the Crusaders finally getting their cutie marks, and I can't help but say I'd have been severely disappointed, even more than I already was.

I wouldn't think of it as the ending since there's still many things for the other characters to accomplish, like CMC finally earning their cutie marks, Rainbow Dash finally becoming a member of the Wonderbolts or Rarity opening a store in Canterlot like Faust said.

Although seeing everyone happy at the end, with a huge coronation did put a smile on my face. It was an okay season finale IMO, but if it was the series finale then I'd be pretty upset xP Not that upset that I'll create threads and rage about it or leave the fandom, but I'd be upset at the writers because I know they could of done 100 times better for something this big.
