How close are you to leaving the fandom?

Did they say it exactly like that though? That's more or less what I am disputing. 5 more years of MLP planned, doesn't mean "we bought 5 seasons" that could mean that they have 5 years planned for the brand. That's also the key word "planned". Meaning nothing set in stone.

Actually they used the words 'current generation will last five additional years'. Of course that doesn't mean FiM is confirmed through season 9, but yeah ... as long as the inflows continue ... they can't pull out of that promise to their investors easily. If the MLP bottom falls, then they would be obligated and required to revise their mid-term strategies based on more current forecasts.

Again, an investor call is not just a PR stunt. They have to be very careful what they say or it CAN be held against the parent company in court. Why do you think that Apple's investor calls are so bloody dry they need two bottles of Helman's to swallow them.

I suppose, I'm just saying, sounds like they are still being cautious. I mean rightfully so. I just wish people wouldn't instantly go "A means B" when there is still room to wiggle in. I mean a 5 year plan sounds about right, but people just instantly assume this means 9 seasons of MLP, when that might not be the case, just that they hope to get 9 seasons. Whether it actually happens... That's always debatable.

Thanks for clearing that up though.

I will be a brony the rest of my life, actually. Know why? Because the word just means that you like MLP FiM, and I don't see why I'd just stop liking the show for no reason. I may not be as involved with the fandom all the time, but I'm always a brony. I'll always like watching the show.

I will only leave if the show's quality drops or if the show ends without a proper successor. Or, in that capacity, if and when I decide to move on to other things. This fandom, for all it's worth has been a really great experience and I wouldn't want to give it up right away. I want to enjoy all I can.

Even away from the show, there will still always be great fanart and fanfiction, so MLP will live on forever even after it gets cancelled. I will still consider myself an original brony even if I reduce my participation in the fanbase at any time in the future.

My mom and sister are weary of me when it comes to ponies. I'll love ponies until the day I die. Even when the show ends I'll still love ponies. A show ending doesn't mean the characters and fandom die with it. They believe it's a phase, but I know it's much more than just some silly phase. A phase to me is like when I tried to be a skater. That was just me trying to change who I truly was. Being a brony is who I truly am. I'm not saying being a brony is a religion or something, but you don't go up to a Christian and tell them sooner or later they'll get over their religious beliefs when they get older. It's always a part of who they are. They can evolve, they can shape who they are by the person they once were. I still like Sonic, Mario, Pokemon and Ben 10. I have for years. Growing older has never once changed that. Just as I know as the years that will go by won't change the fact that I love this fandom.

I don't consider liking a cartoon a life changing experience, so I doubt it'll affect me any if this fandom up and vanished tomorrow.

I left the fandom after season 2 ended, for literally no reason, too. Ever since then I'd on and off watch the show, but never did anything else pony related. I didn't-and still don't-consider myself a brony. (Although I am more involved with the fandom now)

And I've seen what you're talking about. I've seen former bronies I knew saying they left the fandom because "it's dying down", but it's more like it is slowing down, and it is. But I don't think it's dying. I have myself noticed a significant slowdown in the amount of pony stuff, but it's not close to being dead.

In the immortal words of Barrett, "There ain't no gettin offa dis train we on!" Even if the show ends up getting bad, even if most of the world turns anti Brony, I will still treasure the memories of my favorite episodes, and I will never lose my love for ponies. No matter what, there are many talented ponies who can keep the show going through fandom, if the canon ever turns stale or is discontinued.

It was officially confirmed in Hasbro documents that there was plans and budget set for 5 more seasons. This is probably due to the fact that it gets dozens of times more the views than new cartoons do, and there is product integration with equestria girls. You can find the full document online it was reported by Equestria Daily amongst other sites.

So that means 10 seasons, right?

Because 5 seasons after season 5 would be 10 seasons.

So does this mean it will end in 5 years, or it will be at least 5 more years before it ends?

Plans are at least 5 years I assume. Going beyond that would actually worry investors that Hasbro may not be able to reboot the IP if needed.

It's basically all up to the $$$$. If it keeps kicking Barbies flank then we'll see at least 5 years. For good or bad.

I'm not anywhere near leaving this fandom. I mean this fandom, the Call of Valor fandom, and the Brothers in Arms fandom are the best fandoms I've ever been in.

I will have a good laugh if they release season 5 and it's a total market failure. Just because usually planning that far ahead for a company never works out. Short term planning is far more successful. Not to mention I have checked over all the stuff mentioned in this thread in the time I was gone, and never did they confirm that will mean 5 more seasons, just 5 more years for the brand in its 4th generation. Remember, the other generations had cartoons that ended long before the brand did and they serviced them by new toys and every now and then making a direct to DVD movie. They have enough episodes made now to where they could live off of reruns for a solid 2-3 years and just make new toys.

I'll believe we will actually get 5 more seasons when I see the purchases of seasons, not when they say they have "plans" and a budget for 5 more "years" of the brand. I think a lot of people are jumping the gun. I wouldn't be against 5 more seasons, but I try not to get too far ahead of myself.

To add to this, this is a toy company first and foremost. They don't have to continue the show for the full duration that they intend to keep the G4 brand alive. They could easily coast to the finish on reruns.

No plans on leaving- I haven't even been here a year yet.

I truly do like the show because of Faust's vision and the amount of effort that's been put in since the beginning. It's nice to see something done well by people who REALLY DO CARE ABOUT WHAT THEY'RE doing.

The things that really stand out about the show is how dynamic the characters are in terms of animation, and how good the voice acting is. I think the writing is also done well for the boundaries the writers have to work within.

As for the stuff the marketing morons decide for the show (wings, insta-characters, E.G., etc) I just think "whatever". I do find it amusing though when a lot of the fandom gets all bent out of shape from Hasbro's "Bright Ideas.™"

I've come to LOVE Tabitha St. Germain's work in MLP and want to see what other new characters she will do. She's my favorite VA in this show.

A lot of the art and animations that come out of the fandom are amazing and/or hilarious, and something I look forward to checking up on.

Something extremely drastic would have to happen for me to check out of this fandom.

You just described me when it comes to the hobbies and interests I have. Star Wars and Trek will always be a part of my life, and I still call myself a fan even though I only do an annual marathon of the SW movies. Trek I'll watch when the mood suits. I have friends in both fandoms that I've known for years. It's odd because this is where I expected my Bronyhood to fall under. Nope.

This fandom feels different to me - not sure why and quite frankly and I don't want to know why. Some things should just be magical. Point blank - Brony for life.

Amen to that. This is the first fandom I've truly joined and been a part of and it's had a profound impact on my life, all in positive ways.
