That's easy, the Twilight novels. The book series is named after her after all.

Overused joke aside, I think informational as well. Twilight just...really likes learning.

Everyone loves Misty. For good reason, of course. :3

I personally think the majority of what Twilight reads has mostly to do with her studies and learning progress. I would imagine that she constantly looks through the spell books, historical books, and perhaps plenty of biographies, such as ones on Star Swirl the Bearded, and the two princess rulers, Celestia and Luna, as seen on the show. :P

However, as we've seen in "Read It and Weep", Twilight also seems to really enjoy reading fictional stories too, such as all the Daring Do books she claims to own. happy.png

Overall, I think she reads mostly for research and informational purposes, and on a few various occasions, for personal imagination-filled fun. :3

Books about science and knowledge of course. How do you think she's that smart? Now, I'm sure she occasionally reads fiction now and again, but that mare's life revolves around studying.

She reads anything. If you read the comics, some of the books she reads are definately not for children. I wonder if Twilight can read foreign or ancient texts? Seeing as she was studying solely magic before you think she'd have had to pick that skill up down the line.

I'm still fairly convinced that the first book she ever read was a "Guide on how to read books."

Apart from that, I doubt there's anything Twilight does NOT read.

I have heard rumors that there is a hidden chamber in the library with quite a few dirty books, okay I couldn't resist. Seriously though she reads pretty much everything but does seem to favor informational books I could easily picture Twilight reading entire encyclopedias.

Being the kind of smart pony she is I definitely think she reads non fiction books than fictional ones as we see in the episodes she is always reading about Magic spells and some other things and that is quite non fictional - well there in Equestria.

I'm thinking that since she's a unicorn, and a talented one at that, so I imagine she reads spell books a lot.

Not to mention she seems to like knowledge in general. So probaly mainly information.

However I kinda think she like has a daily reading schedule or something where she reads everyone of her books eventually, then reads them again :P.

Just a random head cannon :P.

  • 4 weeks later...

Given her intensive pursuit of knowledge, I would have to say informational.

I think the Daring Do books were what she either read herself, was read to her by her parents and/or Shining Armor, or a combination of the two.

And she kept them to read to Spike as young baby and for sentimental reasons.

My sister thinks i'm weird in that I can enjoy reading a book multiple times and still enjoy it as much as the first time I don't get how someone can only read a good book once and forget about it. tongue.png

Well, when she did her "re-shelving" she almost mentioned only the books that had something to do with magic, and therefore studying. She definitely loves getting more information on subjects, so I do think informational books are her type.

I don't say she doesn't read fiction or anything else (she definitely does), it's just that the encyclopedias and other stuff appeal to her at most.

Don't forget that she owns all the Daring Doo books as well, enough to know that Rainbow is similar to the main character. So she definitely likes adventure stories too.

Well, I said that she definitely reads fiction as well. Probably even more than each of us does, but less than encyclopedias and other informational books.

Of course Twilight spends most of her time reading informational books. How else would she be so talented at magic and have a bunch of Spells in her arsenal?

It's not exclusive she reads them but definitely the majority.
