"You're... Nggh..! ...unarmed?" Orion winced as the pain flashed through his head again, leaving a dark streak across his vision. He glared uneasily at the group of clearly hostile ponies surrounding them like wolves.

 

Watching them...
 
"We're fine! Even if thats true, we don't need you're charity!" He said nervously, glancing back at his sister ever few seconds to ensure nothing was trying to harm her. "All we want is to be left alone!"

 

Flexing his ghostly wings, he pumped them idly - he was far from mastering their use but at a moments notice he was ready to snatch up his sister and flee onwards should the barbaric ponies who had been following them turned aggressive again.

Blast put a hoof on the angry stallion's shoulder.

"Dude, relax. You need to quit thinking of us as the enemy and think of us as ponies that just want to make sure you get through okay." He said warmly. "All I want is to make sure you're okay. You look like you need help. I mean, look at you. You're nothing but skin and bones. Here." Blast reached into his saddlebags and took out two bags of trail mix. He then gave them to the two ponies. "Don't worry. I didn't do anything to them." He said with assurance.

Crimson sighed in exasperation and glared at the stallion, "you fool! we aren't trying to attack you! we're trying to save you! your both clearly injured and in need of supplies and medical attention! its not charity you stubborn ass! its called doing the right thing!" Crimson then took a deep breath and gave the stallion a pleading look, "listen...I know how you feel...your scared and confused and only wish to protect your little sister...I was once just like you...I had a sister who depended on me to protect her...but one day, we both found trouble and needed others assistance...but I refused to seek help and ignored common sense...and for my idiotic actions...she died...by my own father no less...so if you wish to be stubborn, that's fine, but don't bring this upon your sister as well...just calm down and let. us. help." said Crimson seriously.

Looking around Rakon saw sand.  He few over from where he was hovering in the air over to where she was and landed a short distance from her.  "How were things out there.  Looks like some dangerous goings on from what I could see." he said.  "We have to be careful, no telling how many criminals and other things there are out here.  I'm glad you are ok though." He said.

"I don't trust that place anymore." Sand said. "I wasn't out there for that long and I already ran into a pony who's clearly a murderer." She explained. "If we're going to go anywhere, we're gonna have to stay in groups." She said. She knew that the pony had lied about not killing anypony, it was obvious with how many weapons he had been carrying.

Rakon nodded, "I guess we should get the others or tell them.  I do agree that always remaining in groups is safer and needed here since it looks so dangerous." He said.  He shivered at the mention of the murderer, "That is bad, I hope he doesn't hurt anyone, certainly no one from our group." he said.  "To bad such things exist."  He said shaking his head and a bit afraid.  He was glad he wasn't alone and was with Sand, and that she was friendly.

Chivalry looked at them in disbelief. "Wait, you mean THE Litany? He read the Litany?! Darn it! it looks like we were too late, yeah? somepony already got their hooves on it." Chivalry proceeded to face-hoof and asked one more question. "And what do you mean about his "Sanity"? Do you mean that he could go hay-wire and minute now? That means that were all in danger right now, yeah?" Chivalry went back into his fighting pose. "That means, we can't trust you. We just can't, it could put us ALL in danger, yeah!?" Chivalry said with an annoyed look on his face.

"The name is Blizzard Blitz. So what's your name anyway? And did you catch this 'Demonblood'?" Blizzard asked skeptically. He had to admit the story made sense, but he had to be certain. There was just something about this pony that Blizzard Blitz didn't trust.

 

"My name is Midnight Sky." Midnight said shortly as he continued to work. The cut wasn't too bad, thank Celestia, but Midnight stitched it up anyway to be safe. Levitating the needle and thread through the air, Midnight worked quickly to make the sewing as painless as possible for the newcomer.

"I guess you could say we're on an expedition. Us and several other ponies are travelling to retrieve an old artifact. Although the camp is pretty empty right now since most of the others chased after two other ponies who came near our camp." Blizzard said, keeping it as vague as possible. Even if this pony was here on unrelated matters, he didn't quite trust this pony and didn't want him to cause trouble.

 

"You're quite welcome Steel. Although I must admit I'm by no means a professional medic, I just learned a few tricks from my old travelling days. I would recommend you stay here with us for now, there's a trained medic in our group who could give a better diagnosis of the cut." Midnight said as he wrapped a bandage around the wound. While he was confident that he had done everything right in treating the cut, it couldn't hurt for this pony to stick around and meet the others. Even if Steel was hostile, Midnight was confident he and Blizzard could hold their own until help arrived, but he doubted it would come to that.

"Willow..." Orion shook his head sadly - despite inciting the ponies around them, she had done them both a service by revealing to them just how bloodthirsty these intruders were.

 

"See? See what monsters they are?" He said, raising his voice. "Nggh..! Ponies like them won't stop trying to hurt us until I can read the other half... until I can protect you properly! All they care for is war and destruction, not peace and understanding!"

 

Placing a wing defensively over Willow, he glared back at the pony facing him, eyes aglow and horn suddenly crackling with angry blue sparks of barely contained energy.

Silver Heart gasped quietly the moment she laid eyes on the pseudo-alicorn. This is exciting! I've never gotten this close to an alicorn.... Silver Heart's excitement dwindled once she got a decent look at his face. He looks like he's in pain... Despite living in Canterlot she had never been lucky enough to be this close to one of the Princess. The medic continued to stare in wonder at Orion before Pavisa's whisper broke her trance.

"Please don't do that. He looks like he's in a lot of pain. If we can just run away, I think we will all be fine." Silver Heart didn't try to hide the concern in her voice for both Pavisa or Orion. The medic vainly placed a hoof on Pavisa's shoulder, fairly certain that the guard couldn't feel it through her armor. "I think I have an idea, do you think you could order the others of our group back to the camp? I think they are only making it wor-"

Silver Heart was interrupted by a brilliant blue glow and the tell-tale sound of powerful magic. She could feel the arcane energies saturating the air and knew that if Orion finished casting that spell the other ponies wouldn't survive. Doing the only thing she could think of to even possibly help the situation she jumped out from behind the bushes and bowed down before Orion, "Please stop. We really don't mean you any harm. These two are just a couple of idiots that can't take a hint. We'll leave right now if you let us!"

"Well, that's very generous of you. We'd be very grateful, but if it truly is so expensive then you needn't worry over giving us some. I'm sure we could manage without." Midnight said to Steel, nodding at Blizzard that it was okay. Even then Blizzard hesitated before finally tossing the pouch to Steel. While his intentions were good, Midnight couldn't help but think that sometimes Blizzard was too suspicious for his own good. No doubt the pegasus thought there were small bombs or maybe some lethal poison in that pouch.

"Stubborn fool. He can't see past his own suspicions." He thought. But, that thought was dropped when he heard the stallion say something about the Litany. "Wait... YOU read the first half of that thing?" He couldn't believe he was standing before the two ponies who read the Litany's first half. "And you took your sister with you to that dangerous place? Why? If anything, YOU'RE the one who's the danger to her."

Willow was almost on the brink of crying at his words. "No! He didn't mean to read it! He didn't even know that it was so powerful; he wants to protect me because the world is so.. so.. so cruel!" Willow shouted, storming away from the group. That was probably for the first time she shouted at somepony in her life. All these years she's been stepped on by ponies that didn't care about her, didn't want anything of her.. but she finally poured her heart out.

 

And it felt good.

"What if he doesn't know how to control this thing. It could unleash nightmares beyond your wildest imagination." He said through gritted teeth. He could now see that this mare's brother was a bigger numbskull than he thought. "Unless you know how to properly contain it's power, it might mean bad news for both you and your brother."

Pavisa cursed under her breath, unable to stop Silver Heart before she leapt out of the brush.  Having no choice now that her cover was blown, she quickly ran out after Silver Heart to interject herself between Orion and the rest of the group.  She turned her head to address the rest of her party, but didn't take an eye off of the alicorn.  "Would you idiots stop inticing him!?  Or are you TRYING to get us all killed?"  Her gaze was focused on the glow coming off of the alicorn's horn - she had positioned herself so that she was between it and the rest of the party.  If that spell goes off, this is going to hurt...  "Listen...  We don't want any trouble.  You and your sister can go - there's no need to fight."  And hopefully the others won't try to stop him...  

 

Trying to cover as many points as possible to get them all out of this alive, she also tried to address the mare that was with the alicorn.  "None of us want to fight.  I apologize for anything brash these others have done."

Chivalry saw Orion trying to fly away. "OH NO YOU DON'T!" Chivalry unsheathed his blade with his magic and blocked Orions flight path with it. Chivalry knew that they were safe for a few seconds because Orion wasted that spell. "YOUR NOT GOING ANYWHERE, YEAH?" After that Chivalry encase himself in a very light bubble that caused him to float up after Orion.

Pavisa let out a sigh of relief as the alicorn discharged his spell into the air instead of at her, but her breath caught in her throat when Chivalry started to intervene.  "STOP!"  Before she even realized what she was doing, Pavisa turned and threw herself at Chivalry to try and stop him.  "Let him go you thick-headed braindead stallion, you're going to kill us all!"  While Pavisa wasn't normally one for fighting - she preferred a shield over a sword any day - she did the only thing she could think to do.  She launched a kick at her comrade.  If the only way to protect these idiots is going to be fighting them until that...  That other pony gets away, so be it...
