defaultremix 50 October 20, 2013 Share October 20, 2013 Recently my friend (who is not really a true friend however most my friends dont go to my school so i hang around with him). Told people around my school that i like my little pony and gave them my youtube account. Luckily there is no evidence i own the channel since i only post ponies but they still believe him. Any tips on what I should do now? 3 Deviantart
Fluttershyfan94 5,742 October 20, 2013 Share October 20, 2013 (edited) I have no idea, you could act like you know nothing and just continue saying that it's not your channel and that you aren't a brony. But you could also embrace it and just tell them that you are and that they should give the show a chance. Those who judge you for liking a tv show aren't really friends you want anyway. It is just up to you, accept it or deny it until they believe you. Noazark 67 October 20, 2013 Share October 20, 2013 One thing is for sure, you shouldn't be afraid of them, you like what you like and no matter what they think of you, you shouldn't have to change that. If you are scared of them making fun of you, just tell them you don't care, that petty mockings don't affect you. Even if those things do affect you, still pretend as if they don't that way they won't see any point in keeping on doing that. And one last thing, you don't have to hide what you love, you don't have to shout it out either, just be cool with it, go with the flow, if they know, then so be it, it doesn't need to affect you. 7 Signature by the amazing LittleRawr. Malinter 3,064 October 20, 2013 Share October 20, 2013 FINISH HIM! j/k. If them discovering that your a brony is going to hurt you socially just play it cool, and also watch what you say around this friend of yours, sounds like someone is trying to stir up trouble for you. Or you could take this as an opportunity to tell them you watch the show, only just mention it off handedly, once, like it isn't important. And carry on as you did before. They'll only make a big deal out of it if you do or they think you will. Choice is really upto you as I don't know enough to know which I'd pick if I were you. 1 My OC's: Malinter, Rahl, Vengeful impact & alias-the-marked-one First fic i've written since forever here Skype: Malinter@Outlook.com "Defeating a sandwich only makes it tastier." most legendary quote ever. Miss Light Diamond 2,802 October 20, 2013 Share October 20, 2013 Keep doing what you were doing before. You just happen to like a TV Show...its a TV show. If other's have a problem with what you like, then that's their problem. If they ever say anything unkind, just ignore it...like I said, its just a TV show so people saying stuff to you is totally crazy, that's like making fun of someone because of their favorite soda pop or something. Plus you never know, maybe you'll meet some other bronies in your school now. 3 Something something something something Ask me stuff...and all my OC's
Derpaholic 1,155 October 20, 2013 Share October 20, 2013 (edited) Ask yourself this question: "Why should I care?"They know you're a brony, and... ? So what? What follows from that?Fill in the blank here.I wouldn't worry about it too much. At all, actually. SomariFeyWright 776 October 20, 2013 Share October 20, 2013 Well, I think that really depends. Has this caused anything? Is your channel being thrown hate mail, or anything even relatively similar? Is this having even the slightest effect on your social life? It's hard to be concerned for your position when we don't even understand the position you're left in. 1 Awesome signature made by Tromino. Celtore 2,770 October 20, 2013 Share October 20, 2013 (edited) I understand that this can be a difficult thing, so let a closet brony in the traditional sense give some advice... As I see it, you have two main options. The first one being to embrace it. By this I don't mean confess in front of an entire room, but just not put any effort into hiding it. It isn't anything to be ashamed of nor a thing that needs to be revealed, just treat it like any of your other interests. I didnt confess my love of Digimon when I was a kid for example, but I talked about it when the topic arose. The second option is to ridicule the rumour. Just live out your daily life like you always do. People eventually forget, especially if you're sending passive signals that this rumour is false... Unless you're in high school, sadly. Notice I said passive signals though, you don't want to appear too upset about this. If you do, it looks like you're hiding something. So yeah, my advice: either embrace it quietly or act natural and let people forget. Edited October 20, 2013 by Celtore
Codelyy 1,286 October 20, 2013 Share October 20, 2013 Just tell the truth and say your a brony, Yes i know it's hard and it can be a bit worrying because you don't want everyone to think you are gay (Somehow) but if everyone does find out just think about how stupid they are being because they are making fun out of you for liking a cartoon that they never watched before 1 Thank you Cherribomb for the Signature! https://twitter.com/Codelyy
Moonlight 7,286 October 20, 2013 Share October 20, 2013 You could act like you don't care? It's only a silly little cartoon, don't bother making such a big deal out of it. It isn't like they'll hunt you down or something, you might want to prepare for some harmless teasing here and there though. If they make a big deal out of it, just tell a guardian or possibly the principal and move on with your time. Pretend you know nothing or could care less about it and they'll eventually care less and move on with their time, or possibly forget it. 1 matching setups with my bff pathfinder
Scootalove 10,689 October 20, 2013 Share October 20, 2013 I think that you shouldn't care since, if you show that you don't care about what they are doing they will get tired of teasing you eventually and they will stop. 1 Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules
Winger7632 124 October 20, 2013 Share October 20, 2013 Be proud to be a brony, theres nothing wrong with it and its the best fandom out there. Embrace it as opposed to push it away, who cares if some kids you'll probably never see again after high school know your a brony. Just about everyone knows i am, i always have a RD or Pinkie wristband on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yhhgaQOl40
Silver Letter 1,832 October 20, 2013 Share October 20, 2013 I hear that it is a different experience when somepony realizes that a person is a fan of 'Friendship is Magic' at a public school. It is likely because children are very irrational and public schools seem to bring out the worst in them. If you want my advice, I would say that you shouldn't act any different. You may like what you desire and the feelings of others that should have no relevance to your life shouldn't matter at all. 2 Silver Letter!!! GrauWitz 1,010 October 20, 2013 Share October 20, 2013 If they're giving you any hassle, just go to your teacher and say "Excuse me, but these guys are spreading BS about me liking My Little Pony and now everyone is laughing at me", that will most likely put an end to it all. Oh yeah, and beat the shit out of yer "friend" if you can
Troblems 5,617 October 20, 2013 Share October 20, 2013 The fact of the matter is that every single kid that you go to school with has something they don't want to get out. So find out what that is, and use it against them! ...Don't do that. It sucks, and it's a lot harder, but take the moral high ground. I'm sure there is someone somewhere in your school that is also a brony. Find that person, and hang out with them, because it sounds like this "friend" is a real jerk. 1 I got an extra hour in the ballpit
imlizyeah 56 October 20, 2013 Share October 20, 2013 Self-confidence and being proud of who you are can sometimes cause unwanted attention from haters... but it's the healthiest thing you can do. There may be bullies and idiots who push your buttons, just remind yourself that they are unimportant in your life, find as many aweseome brony classmates as you can and try to ENJOY being a brony!
Denim&Venöm 18,772 October 21, 2013 Share October 21, 2013 This is something I often ponder about. What if FiM aired while I was still in High School? Would I have even liked the show back then? Would I have had the confidence in myself to show that I was a Brony? Would it have brightened those dark and dreary days? No matter what you do and no matter what you like, kids are going to ridicule you. Even if you weren't a Brony, kids will find something else to harass you about, whether it's where you're from, the clothes you where, the games you play, the songs you listen to, etc. School is a miserable place, and if they can't be happy there, then neither should anyone else. So really, ignore them. Heck, be witty with them. Tell them it's a good show. Plenty of kids back at my school still liked Pokemon, they might've liked ponies too had they been introduced. Maybe you can even have some fun with this. Post random pictures of ponies and catchphrases around the school. Start a trend. Make ponies the next big hit in your school. Maybe even find some other Bronies. Regardless, don't let the haters bring you down. They deserve one thing and one thing only: your pity. Maybe MLP will brighten their lives too.
