No, I am talking about the episode where she broke her pinkie promise. She claims that she broke nothing because she never said she was going to attend breakfast, but that is bullshit. I still despise her, and I will always despise her, there is nothing anyone can say or do that will change my opinion.

Right, she tricked them dishonestly, hence lied. She can say she wasn't lying until the cows come home but she was being intentionally deceptive and that is the same thing. (She didn't lie about the Crystal heart, she deflected their questions. "Can I see the crystal heart?" "The pastries are looking nice" That kind of thing. And the original lie there was on Twilight. Lying by omission is different than flat out lying in that you tell only the part of the truth that best benefits you. I'm not really allowed to lie, so I lie by omission all the time. Currently Applejack is best pony. And she firmly held that position longer than anypony else.

its aaaaallllllll pesonal opinion, she's a great pony, but her compettative side can make her a bit braggy, and, as shown in s1 ep4, she has alot of self confidence, perhaps a bit too much. another thing is that her bieng so honest means she tells it how it is, that could be a bad thing at times. obviosly shes not all bad, she thinks of her friend and will back them up always.

 

Because everypony else is even better!

But seriously, she doesn't reflect her element very well, given she lies more than speaks the truth. She isn't very easy to relate to her and she isn't very interesting in terms of character depth.

 

This is why people tend to favour characters like Dash and Fluttershy, they are just a lot more interesting in terms of character. I have rarely seen Applejack step outside her character boundaries while we've seen Fluttershy try to be assertive and Rainbow trying to act more friendly towards 'Shy.

 

So, basically, Applejack is boring.

Okay, let's go through this then.

 

How was she not loyal in the Mysterious Mare Do Well? Yes, she gets carried away in the fame, but she is the element of loyalty, not selflessness. In the end she is still their friends and never turned on them despite what happened, and remember this did all start because she saved a number of ponies because she wanted to help. Loyalty confirmed and moving on.

 

Fluttershy makes a brief change of character to a much more assertive version of herself. This was, first off, not completely her fault. Next point is that this is basically the only time she does that in the entire tow seasons, a once off. She was so kind and forgiving that she had bottled up a lot of that rage for a while and it seemed to all get let out at once. I don't blame her, she was treated like dirt. In every other case she has proven kind to the last, even resisting the corruption of Discord until he forced it on her. Kindness confirmed and moving on.

 

Yes, everypony makes mistakes that aren't to do with their selected element, but Applejack seems to be a repeat offender in that case. She has lied on multiple occasions in both seasons, even not giving the straight truth. She should probably consider an element transfer.

It's really not even worth arguing about because it's ultimately either "YEAH THE WRITERS SUCK AT ESTABLISHING CHARACTER" or "Well, the writers are doing the best they can with the characters and the Mane 6 are entertaining, nevertheless."

 

I like every character in some way or form, even if it's the CMC. They all have redeeming qualities that odds out their mostly bland personality.

What I have to say is more important than what you have to say, and A pony is way better than B pony. Because A pony did this and B pony didn't so she/he is clearly inferior to A pony. And that one instance when B pony did that one thing that everyone pointed out later on to contradict her entire character just proves that she/he is inferior to every other pony ever. B pony is so mainstream that it makes me angry because clearly A pony should be more mainstream because A pony has this personality and these traits and B pony is completely different. B pony is not relatable at all, how can B pony even be like as a character at all? Then there is that fanfiction that B pony stared in that made me shiver because of how terrifying it is and I never looked at B pony the same way ever again. So people don't like Applejack that much, we can't exactly change that. I would like to see her display some of the characteristics she's supposed to have, but we have that chance in season 3.

When I first starting watching MLP, I thought Applejack would be my favorite pony, since I typically like the cowboy and cowgirl characters. However, Applejack didn't get much in the way of character development at all. Even when she's supposed to get an episode, another character tends to steal the spotlight. Right now she's fifth on my ranking of the mane six, and since the only change was Rarity bumping Twilight out of third place, it may be too late for any character development to change my mind about her.

Well, it's like you said. I love AJ, but I love the others, and some of the others are my faves. Just a matter of choice, my friend.

 

 

However, it's too bad AJ and Rarity don't get as much attention. I know what you mean. But, you gotta admit, Fluttershy is super cute, Rainbow Dash is super awesome, Twilight is super smart, Pinkie is super funny, and Rarity is super fabulous. Aj is also super-hard working, so there's a great quality about her. It's just that the other ponies are great as well, and although there aren't many fans, AJ is still a great part of the mane six.

 

It's just that most people (and although I hate to admit it, even me) think that AJ is not really that much of an interesting or developed charcter. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against AJ or whatnot, but I just don't find her as one of my favorites. But then again, I love ALL the mane six. Each one is cute in their own way!

 

So, it doesn't matter what pony you like best, and if someone dislikes you just for liking a certain pony, you just go stroll along and ignore.

I like Applejack, but she gets so little attention--and so little development--that she doesn't even feel like a main character anymore. She's so underrated. And that's a shame, because she's an awesome character. It's just that other characters end up being more awesome.

 

I must admit, however, that I'm among those who see Applejack (along with Rarity) as a secondary character to the rest of the main cast. At this point in the series, my loyalties have become fairly rigid. I'd rather see Twilight Sparkle or Fluttershy than Applejack. Sorry, Applejack fans, maybe it would have turned out differently if she had been given more attention early on

AJ is, by far, my favorite pony in the entire show. To be honest I think I'm a little obsessed sometimes. I've created pony art of her, made my avatar her (from season 3), I've even named myself freaking "AppleBlake" (Blake being my first name) on skype. To be honest, the list goes on for the things that I do to show my appreciation to AJ (somethings others might consider "unmentionable" if you know what I mean), but I have yet to consider myself the greatest AJ fan on the forums (I'm still after that title).

I seriously, desperately hope that they're dead. I hope it's confirmed. Applejack is the strongest both physically and mentally of the mane six, and if we have an episode of her emotional struggling, I'd love to see how that would turn out. With a song added, too.
