I'm a man who usually likes change, heck I welcome to change. But if it ain't broken don't freaking fix it! One of the mane (hehe pony punn) reasons I went on youtube

"But if it ain't broken don't freaking fix it!" (But improve upon it.)

I could rant. But instead I'll abuse the lowered character limit and let Bill say it all for me

Just a PSA: some videos from partners, such as Bungie, still have the old comments due to a bug in their partnership that led to them never getting "updated" or something. Check it out on this Destiny PS4 launch trailer video.

But y'know, instead of trying to fix what isn't broken again, Google could have instead tried to develop a 60FPS video player for YouTube and catch up with the rest of the 21st century... it's near the end of 2013 and YouTube is still capped at 30FPS, what is this? But then again, that'd be a change the community would want, and we can't have that.

we don't need to do anything.Google is basically making youtube worse every update.I get this update is horrible and all and is worse than the last updates, but alot of users are still using it, they are okay with it.The update is the worst update google has done but still not enough to make everyone leave.Youtube will get worse later on, eventually up to the update

that will convince everyone to leave)

I don't know when it will happen, but it will happen eventually.

As much as I detest Google+ don't be one of those morons posting this:

And don't forget the tank thingy.

Huh.

Well, still. A great majority of accounts, including YT celebrities, have the "improvement". It's terrible and shouldn't have been implemented in the first place. Google is shooting itself in the foot in the long term.

I've always found it really annoying that just because you didn't catch one little typo before you hit "post," you had to copy, delete your post, paste, edit your comment and re-post.

You can reply to yoruself

*yourself

...or the person you ware replying to

*were

That's what I always did before, and people understood.

The "real" name thing is why I'm glad my account was hacked in August. One of my friends thought it would be funny to change my email account name to "hurp schnortlnips". I kept the name because it was cute and lo and behold, when Google+ comes along, my real name is a ridiculous moniker thought up by a high schooler.

^ That didn't always work because some people didn't catch the correction, especially on videos where a new comment pops up every second

OH the joys of being held at gun point and being forced to make a G+ account.  I think Gman sums up what goolge has done nicely "Rather than offer you the illusion of free choice, I will take the liberty of choosing for you...if and when your time comes round again." Gman, half life 1

Well, i am not sure how much i care about this from the viewer's point of view, but the comments on my videos get "marked as spam" automatically before anybody gets to see it and i am supposed to get a notification for those (i am not get anything).

So i went to a video of mine and got a notice there saying 4 comments are hidden for possible spam and i need to review them. Thank you for telling me that only when i go to the specific video and check the comment section. Now to check rest of my videos? Uhh, i'll pass..

I tell anyone to stop using youtube, yet lots of people still use it.They can fuck us over as they please, knowing that there is no one else for you to go to. So in closing, Google won't do shit unless you hurt them where it REALLY hurts. This update isn't enough to convince everyone.
Sometimes, you have to give up on people. Not because you don't care but because they don't

Well the problem is, there are how many people that go on Youtube(even some that make a living off of it)? And to go and say to stop using it is on the same level of telling everyone to stop buying Call of Duty. It just will not happen, too many people, many probably not giving a single care in the world.

Y'know, that never occurred to me before. Now that you mention it, the similarity is astounding.

The difference with YT is that, it's used by people withOUT an account just to watch videos.

This update is only tying the hands of those who DO have an account. So, viewers who aren't members will continue to bring income simply through... viewing.

As long as there are enough channels still up, and they're updated more often with content that isn't found on Dailymotion or Vimeo...

Which brings us back to getting famous users to migrate.

I used to be upset about these changes, rage like everyone else, but at this point I will accept these changes. What is said in this video below, people bitch about change, even if they are handed good stuff in return. You can't please them all. After watchin' this video, I will accept it like it is.

I'm pretty sick of it. I hate how they're trying to force it down everyone's throat.

I agree. Also kudos to your avatar and matching font color choice :) I usually post in purple to match my avatar (except when I'm on my mobile, where there isn't an easy font color option)

All I could want people to do at this stage is to ask people to stop complaining. Creators, if you're fed up, start posting to either Dailymotion or Vimeo as well as YouTube. Consumers, if you're fed up, delete your account; the new comment system is of little to no use to you and you wouldn't lose much by abandoning it. Want to keep up on your subscriptions? Try adding your favourite channels to your RSS reader.

People have forgotten that Google has the choice as to what it wants to do with its services. They have also forgotten that they have the choice as to which services they side with. There are alternatives for pretty much everything Google has to offer. If you don't like Google, use those services instead.

Well I don't really mind Google+ itself. It's absolutely okay. Nothing I would use personally, but I don't think it is anything bad at all.

However, what I absolutely hate is that Google is trying to Sync google+ and your google account with everything else. It is super annoying. I don't want to use google+, why are they almost forcing us to use it by keep throwing G+ stuff at us on all their services. On youtube, I want youtube to be youtube. I want to have one account for google and one account for youtube.

What bugs me even more is that other companies are starting to do the same. Microsoft for example has synced all their services so if you login on xbox.com for example, you're on the same account if you go on outlook. If I want to check my mail on another account, both of them will change.  I have the same issues with google and it's so annoying.

Exactly WHY are we complaining about the YouTube comments system? It's a slight annoyance, yes, but I don't mind it at all. The thing that REALLY ticks me off is how Vevo keeps trying to cover up the censorship on songs. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes absolutely frustrating.

people bitch about change, even if they are handed good stuff in return.

Thing is, this change only brought "good stuff" to people who actively use Google+ which, as I understand, doesn't represent a big portion of YouTube's userbase.

Something stupid happened to me just a few minutes ago, and not for the first time either.

I entered my YT profile and checked my Watch Later list, which clearly indicated I was logged into YT (because as far as I know, even users can't view my Watch Later unless they use my account). Yet when I wanted to rate some comments, I couldn't get the button to work...

Then I noticed the comment box saying I should log in to post a comment. Obviously, it meant "log into G+", and I needed to do that to make the Like buttons work too.

So basically, I still have to use Google+ for my activity on YouTube despite being already logged into my YouTube.

How is that good in any way, and what "good stuff" exactly did we get? Riddle me that before comparing us to backwards-minded people who "bitch about change" no matter what.

the new comment system is of little to no use to you and you wouldn't lose much by abandoning it.

That's the thing, the new system might be nonsense, but the comments in general were a place where, among the pile of dumb memes and raging teenagers, one could find some reasonable arguments about serious matters.

It's not like a layer of dead skin we can just cast away and brush aside. It's something that used to have good in it, that Google took from us.

First the Captcha, then reduction of its "too many comments" limit to two (so you'd get "You recently posted several..." every other comment)... Now trolls everywhere can spam ridiculously long comments (the character limit was inciting people to be more concise and clear), and you can't even post/rate comments from your YouTube account if you're not also on Google+.

As for migrating, that WILL happen one day. Not everyone is complaining - my posts, for example, provide some predictions that're very easy to make, and surely accurate?
