How close is Cloudsdale to Ponyville?

Given that it's Rainbow's and Fluttershy's hometown, it makes it seem like it's fairly close, especially as Rainbow has a home on top of a cloud, which has to be normal in Cloudsdale pegasi, except for those for Fluttershy who aren't strong fliers.

 

Contradicting that, however, is the map of equestria on the mlpwiki, which shows that it's about as far north as Canterlot.  But, going against THAT is a snippet from one of the staff saying that there is no OFFICIAL map of equestria in case they need to shift things around.

 

So, any eagle eyed fans out there who can give me a relative distance?

Given what it's made of, it might actually move around quite a bit. Meaning distances between it and more fixed locations are going to be highly variable.

Since Cloudsdale is made out of clouds completely, Cloudsdale is able to move due to the winds in the sky.

I believe it may be in between Canterlot and Ponyville.

I think it varies because its a city made of clouds and in one episode Dash mentions that a cloud that got to close turned into fog.

 

So maybe they have a team of weather ponies to adjust it and make sure it doesn't collide with Ponyville on a scheduled date and time?

The best guess currently is that it is slightly northwest of Canterlot, as evidenced in the (not to scale) map spoiler'd below.

 

The reasoning for it being much closer to Canterlot than the arctic north is that Cloudsdale could, at one point be seen from Canterlot:

 

 

According to this painting, Cloudsdale was very close at one point. Presumably, it has drifted northwest since then.
