Adente 1,000 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 So, Family Guy killed off Brian. For good it looks like. Do you guys think FOX made the right decision doing that, or do you think it was a huge mistake?
ghostfacekiller39 23,879 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 Stupid. Just based off of history alone, this'll never work. The new dog will get assassinated by fans. Hell, I don't even watch the show and I find this to be a horrible decision, based off of principle alone. He who is Positively Obsessed With All Things Rarity!!! Check out the Rarity Fan Club! Renon Strike 67 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 No because Brian had a fan following, he had a very deep character and people were invested in him.. not sure what Vinny will deliver at his place.
Moonlight 7,291 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 I believe it was a pretty big mistake. Truth be told, the only reason I watched the show was for the Stewie and Brian duo. Brian also had a pretty big fan following, and as a fan myself, I'm not amused. Vinny seems like an alright character but I seriously doubt he's good enough to replace Brian. matching setups with my bff pathfinder

Rocky 68 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 (edited) Even though I don't really watch Family Guy anymore, I don't understand why the show would do this. I think most people watched the show for the Brian-Stewie episodes. As we've seen in a lot of shows, killing off a fan favorite character is usually a bad idea. It's like if MLP really DID kill off Celestia. But PART of me has a feeling we somehow haven't seen the last of him. Crazy Misty 654 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 I thought they were gonna pull a fast one on us (make us think he's dead the whole episode only for him to be suddenly ok, or it's all just a dream) but no, they ACTUALLY killed him... why ;_; siggy by PixiGlow
Rocky 68 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 What's really sad for me is that I feel that Family Guy killing off Brian is the equivilant of MLP killing off Spike. Mainly because like Spike, Brian was the best friend of the main character and was always by his side. Not only that, his character had a cult following just like Spike does. Rinkitty 589 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 It's pretty ballsy to kill off such a popular character. I'm gonna give them props for making such a brave decision, though, it's kinda stupid. This means no more Stewie and Brian episodes, which were always my favorite. I've already been put off by Family Guy in recent years. This might just kill the show completely for me. 1 ~Siggy made by Kitteh O Shy <3 In a society that has destroyed all adventure, the only adventure left is to destroy that society~
GrimCW 658 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 (edited) It won't last. It's gotta be a joke within, kinda like peters constant job hopping at one point long ago. You know, where they ended it by saying "Everything will just be better in the next episode anyways" or some such... and then it wasn't Edited November 25, 2013 by GrimCW
Fragilistic 65 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 I don't watch the show that often, but when I saw this thread, I had to Google it. I was a huge fan awhile back, and to hear Brain getting killed off couldn't be true. Did they really had? What? Vinny? What? wha? Yeah, this screams nothing but a bad idea, other than Brian's final moments, everything was handled in the worst possible way Edited November 25, 2013 by Rusty Shackleford
Rocky 68 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 I'm sure Vin will be an okay character and all, but I just think that if you're going to get rid of a character, have him have a subtle way out of the series. Maybe he could have gone away doing something that he always wanted to do. They didn't have to KILL him. Especially on a show that's supposed to be funny. Sana 279 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 I loved it. Many of you are clearly in denial. Brian was one of the worst characters on the show and Vinny will just be a breath of fresh air. Words cannot express how happy I was seeing him killed onscreen. I stopped watching Family Guy a long time ago but when I heard about this, it just reinvigorated my love for it. If this really does turn out to be a joke or a ridiculous dream sequence, I will be SEVERELY disappointed. None the less, Meg would have been a preferable choice.
ASocialyAwkwardPony 299 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 Brian, as in the family dog? Yeah I am okay with that. After watching the episode with Quagmire's dad turning out to be transsexual and Brian being the most transphobic little shit of them all I have hated his guts and I never particularly cared for his character to begin with. As long as they don't kill off Stewie or Quagmire it's cool to me.
SBaby 660 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 (edited) If this turns out to be permanent, this is a really bad idea. I think the more immature fanboys that just watch the show for Peter's fart jokes or flashbacks will probably be fine with it. But I don't think a majority of the fans are going to accept this. Brian is a staple character of the series, and was arguably the character that saved the series from cancellation. To kill him off and then immediately shove a new character down peoples' throats without even giving it a chance to breathe can be taken as borderline offensive. I don't know about this. I've seen this happen with other shows, and it never ends well for the series. Edited November 25, 2013 by SBaby A Winner Is You!!!
Wubsie 1,123 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 (edited) It was a bad decision in my opinion, but to be honest they did it in a beautiful way, I liked how they executed it and it was a great episode overall. Vinny is a good dog and seems like a nice character, sure he's not better than Brian or too likeable imo but eh. Some people bitched about Twi becoming an alicorn and most of you defended it immediately saying the show will still survive. I think it'll die out without the family dog. He was the intellectual voice of reason and he will be missed. One question though, why not Chris? Also he's a kid he had pretty much no purpose in the show and would be an easy character to kill off. People are saying Meg btu why? She's probably the toughest and most complex character in the show. This decision wasn't good but hey it happened and we have to deal with it. Mars Caramel 319 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 (edited) Overall, I'm just concerned about how rushed it seemed. Just getting hit by a car was the most imaginative thing they could think of when it comes to killing off a main character, and possibly the most loved main character? Even the hospital scene felt extremely rushed for a moment like this. Even though I stopped watching Family Guy long ago, I'm sure this is going to be a really bad decision. QuirkyUsername 1,576 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 (edited) Wait what? I missed this O.o woah that is SUPER disappointing actually now I wish I didn't give in to curiosity despite the spoiler tag. It's an awful idea. Many of the best episodes were Stewie and Brian heavy and pretty much the banter between him and the entire family was often quite funny (except with Lois :\ banter between those too never really interested me) they have done quite a bit of harm removing such a major character. I don't think for a second it'll end the show but still sad to see such a funny character go *Edit wow just watched the clip. Littlle more brutal than I was expecting but Family guy was never known for being flaccid and expectable with it's "what prompted this?" humour well if the new dog is a thing (again I haven't seen the ep) hopefully he's a good addition to the cast.......and not another Brian. Sad as I am to see him go killing him off for the same basic character would be pretty damned lazy Edited November 25, 2013 by TwerkyUsername This adorable ball of glorious fluff that is my avatar is the creation of the glamorous Laika Hey so Johari
Scootadress 361 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 I didn't want that. Brian and Stewie are the best duo ever. When Brian died, I sort of died. It was very rushed and I never liked it because of how rushed it was. I mean:Vinny was brought in too soon. I can't imagine ANY OF them getting another dog that fast. This won't end very well. I loved the show BECAUSE of the two. They made a wonderful, entertaining duo. They should seriously have killed off Meg. Meg jokes are no longer funny. While minor things in the episode were funny (Uh...Adam West ghost...yep that's it) They just..well..they aren't as good anymore. Moved to Elsewhere 11,331 November 25, 2013 Share November 25, 2013 It just seems really weird that they'd kill off a major character. I could understand maybe a secondary character or a minor character (Simpsons has done it before) but a character that's appeared in practically every episode? Now I'm not really a fan of Family Guy but the one thing I did like were the episodes involving Brian and Stewie like Road to Multiverse or Back to the Pilot. And I heard they're one of the more popular characters on the show. So yeah, I can imagine Family Guy fans being either sad, ticked or both.
