Season 4 Pinkie Pie

After watching a great deal of analytical videos from great brony analyzers like Digibrony, Tommy Oliver, TheMysteriousMrEnter and DrWolf I've come to realize that Pinkie Pie isn't being as good as she use to be in the previous seasons. Rather she's coming off as rather annoying and a flat character. Given that she has been the comical pony in previous episodes, but even then her antics had some "logical sense" (yeah I just said that) Now were're 4 episodes in season 4 and she's really yet to show any depth beyond her 3 Dimensional  jolly nature as I had come to really admire. Dave Polsky (a great writer for her) even did the same thing in the Daring Don't episode.

 

Perhaps I'm being a bit too rough even though it's only early within the season. I guess I should just wait until we get a Pinkie Pie centered episode. What do you guys think about Season 4 Pinkie Pie?

Naw, I get what you mean. I always disliked all those random Pinkie moments in "The Return of Harmony" and such. Pinkie is at her best when there is a point to her randomness, like in "Swarm of the Century" or her absolute best episode "Too Many Pinkie Pies".

Anywho, dude, yeahh. She's been overdone this season. No sense has been made, but not in the Pinkie Pie way I like to see, you know? So far, she's been the only character who's portrayal I disapprove of.

 

RD is actually getting close to hopping her over a spot, putting Pinkie Pie at the back of my mane 6

 

I still like her...but I think if this keeps up, I think Pinkie fans are gonna feel the same way about S4 as I did about S3.

Comedy and randomness in general should have a reason or a point behind it, I would like to see a Pinkie Pie centered episode where we see her random antics at best.

Pinkie is a spotlight pony. You can't scratch all those layers of her personality when she isn't the focus of the episode. Each of the Mane 6 have a different way of complementing the episode when they're not the star, and for Pinkie it's being the comedienne. I quite like that they've kept it up in Season 4. She's not always comic relief; that's just how she acts, like that one time she made all of us laugh when she was just daydreaming to herself about frosting.

I find she's been quite annoying this season. Her antics are getting on my nerves a little. And, in Castle mania, the whole "I didn't know I wasn't meant to ring the school bell for the whole day" thing was just a little too ridiculous. I know it was just a joke, but wasn't that kinda making Pinkie seem like a complete idiot instead of just a random pony with an occasional dimwitted moment? I don't know, that just got on my nerves.

I hope Pinkie gets an episode this season that'll change my opinion on her, but I'm not too fond of her at the moment.

I feel like she was the worst in season 3. Funniest, yes, but flat all the same. I feel Season 4 is a little better, but I do find myself wanting season 1 pinkie pie back, where she was funny AND a character, instead of just funny. She needs to get serious sometimes too...

That's actually a really good way of putting it. Still, I think that even in supporting roles in S1, she came across as at least aware of what's happening around her and seemed to have her own silly grasp of the situation. When she actually has an episode focused on her and her inherent flaws, it's quite good, but there's no denying there's a bit of fladerizing going on.

I guess your right. However even in say Swarm of the Century, Dragonshy, and I dare say It's About Time where she wasn't exactly in the spotlight. Her lightheartedness still seemed to be good.

 

Still If they are only going to make a fool out of her and not let her let her add anything to the episode then it might just be best to not have her in the episode.

Personally I thought she was funny at the times she's been on, but I love Pinkie the most so I could never get annoyed by her. It's still early in the season though, I'm sure she'll get better as time goes on and episodes roll by. Only 4 episodes into the season. we've only gotten a big taste of Twilight and Rainbow, while the others are minuscule compared at the moment. I'm just gonna sit back and watch how it all plays out.

Perhaps however, Characterization has always been a thing in MLP and everyone always looks into every action a character does. Even more so for a main character like Pinkie Pie and  even though she has her random moments. Some just either make her look like and idiot rather than just oblivious to the situation at hand.

It is still early in the season but so far the only thing that has wowed me about Pinkie Pie this season was her making an orgasm face over "frosting". Season 3 with her was kind of meh with her except for Too Many Pinkie Pies and some moments in Wonderbolt Academy but she was hilarious in Equestria Girls so lets just wait and see what they do with Pinkie Pie in season 4. She used to be my 2nd favorite pony almost as long as Applejack has been my favorite pony but went down to 3rd because Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle got bumped up so I have pretty much always liked her in large part because she reminds me of my Dad.

You don't say. I have a brony friend who overanalyzes everything. It gets annoying, really. Anyways I think Pinkie in Season 4 has been decent so far. I've recently started to like Pinkie Pie a lot more than I used to, so I'm finding her season 4 antics wonderful. I mean, the Sweet Frosting moment was hilarious, and a little weird I might add.

I've noticed what you're talking about, and I think it's more of a potential problem than a problem in itself. I don't mind Pinkie being silly for the sake of silliness so long as that's not all she does. I enjoyed her random moments so far (and the coloring was adorable.) However, it did make me hope that this won't be the only aspect of her character all season long. We need some deeper Pinkie moments along with the  comic relief ones. It's a balance, I think. It's really too early to judge. As long as they explore other aspects of her as well, as long as she isn't only written this way, I think it'll be fine. Here's hoping we'll get plenty of Pinkie Pie character development AND randomness, and a wonderful season 4!

I can see how some people can find her antics this season annoying but I personally found them funny because of the timing. Also I'm thinking it's still a bit too early to say anything I'm personally waiting for a Pinkie centered episode before I make judgment.

I actually quite enjoy pinkie this season, i'm a bit of a sucker for comedic relief i guess maybe, or just general randomness that pinkie can offer.

 

Or maybe its just because its literally almost impossible to disappoint me, i swear i'm so easy to please its really not even relevant for me to give my opinions here probably.

I'm probably in the minority, but I still prefer her now to where she was at in the majority of season 2(which is apparently where a lot of people think she's at her best). It's also worth noting that she hasn't had much focus yet so I think it's too early to judge

I do agree with what said, however I must add that I think they have made her a little bit more like this random character who comes in every now and then to say something funny.

 

I still like Pinkie Pie most of all ponies, she's awesome. However I wouldn't mind if they gave her some time where she is not super hyper and random.

Yeah, I preferred how she acted in the first two seasons. She got a little annoying past that point. Still funny, just not as funny. I'm not too worried about it though, since it's only the beginning of the season; it's hard to determine whether she'll act the same way throughout the season.

I really dislike all of his videos personally. He's way too emotional and never makes legitimate points and honestly most of his videos come off pretty whiny about how the episodes make him feel and how it relates to his life without pointing out objective faults or even what I would call rational opinions. Most of his reviews seem like "One time I had social anxiety so this episode is a real slap in the face and the writers of it are evil creatures who deserve to burn in Hell forever." And I'm hardly even exaggerating. No offense, though. I'll stick with BronyCurious myself (even if I couldn't have disagreed with his latest video any more, he at least expresses himself good.)

 

Anyway, I really like Pinkie this season but, I think we should wait for a full episode about her until we judge.
