Well folks, we have just witnessed the end of the Group Stages in stunning fashion. What was about to be a draw AND ELIMINATION for Spike... has become the exact opposite! Somehow... in miraculous fashion... HAS PROGRESSED TO THE ROUND OF 16  BY THE SLIMMEST OF MARGINS! He has somehow stolen... a 95-91 victory with just enough to reach 51%. What an end to the Group Stages. Before BSPN continues with its World Cup coverage, we would like to congratulate both characters on a well fought game and thank fans of both sides for a very entertaining game to end the Group Stages.

 

Now… Without further ado… Welcome to the first episode of the 2014 MLPF World Cup: Knockout Stage Edition. This is it. The meat of the competition. The Group Stages were merely the appetizers. That close match between Spike and Princess Cadance was just a preview of what will be to come during the World Cup Knockout Stages. We are now at the point where even a single moment of complacency in voting can turn an entire game around. Ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the Round of 16. Just a single loss will knock the character out in this stage. There is no room for error here. Draws are off, and ponies can indeed win by a single vote in this stage.

 

Today, we have our first Round of 16 game, featuring the Princess of the Night and the zebra of the Everfree. The former topped Group A that was climaxed with a solid 71-49 victory over Sweetie Belle. The latter is coming off a close upset victory to knock the Changeling Queen out of the 2014 MLPF World Cup with a close 93-81 victory. For much of that game, it looked like the Changeling Queen would wrest control, but Zecora managed a strong comeback from 7 votes down to regain the lead and take control in the game’s dying hours. Who will be the first character to progress to the MLPF World Cup Quarterfinals? Will it be the Princess who lives in pony’s dreams, or will it be the Oriental rhyming zebra?

 

The fillies and colts have already brought out the flags for today’s game. Let’s now tune in live at Belo Mareizonte for today’s game.
