Fluttershy is down by six votes at this time. OK, it's a deficit, but not an insurmountable one. We really have to pull together as a team to get this done.

 

OK, it has sometimes been asked. Why IS Fluttershy so popular? She's cute and then...what? I've written a few walls of text on that subject and I've read some interesting thoughts on the topic by others. Here is one well made video critique that tackles this question from several different angles. Watch it and maybe you too will start to see Rainbow Dash's childhood friend in a new light.

Wow, I can't believe you made this way back in February of 2013.

 

Anyway, I would be remiss if I didn't tip my cap to Twilight Sparkle. For a series that tries very hard to give six figures main character standing, Twi is still the primary protagonist. She is the catalyst, the X factor, the straw that stirs this drink. Twilight brought together five disparate Ponyville residents who otherwise would have had little to do with each other. One of Twi's best attributes is her ability to relate to ponies with different personalities and temperaments. Not much attention has been brought to this, but Twilight helped Fluttershy overcome her weaknesses on at least two significant occasions: In Return of Harmony Part 2 and Hurricane Fluttershy. In both instances, it was something Twilight said or did that gave Flutters the impetus to act.

 

Well, that's enough of that. If this were last year, Twilight wouldn't even be IN the final. There was a lot of backlash due to the whole Twilicorn thing. But Season 4 allayed some of the worst fears we had for the purple pony and now she has returned to the top of the popularity charts. Definitely not somepony to take lightly. But she isn't invincible either.

 

Give it your all Fluttershy. We know you can do it!

Unfortunately, most people have a tendency to think Flutter fans are mostly "meta-bronies" in it for just her cuteness...  It can get quite annoying to deal with at times. Thanks for not being one of them
