Super Mario Galaxy.

I also don't want to see Super Mario 3D Land/World series unless they're made on portables.

Anything M rated. I just dislike gore and insane violence. It bothers me and actually makes me cringe.

(Please just see this as my opinion by the way. I see a lot of people aiming for my little comment here. I had to edit it finally because, jeez, you can't leave me alone. Guys, I came in here without really being serious. If you want to play what you play, then play it. I don't care. It's not hurting me for you to play it. This is just a topic asking for a "what if" type of situation. Stop treating this like I mean it religiously.)

Anything that tries to resemble CoD. As much as I don't like that franchise, it's pretty much become a staple in the gaming community (I've gotta wash my mouth after saying that :/ ) But, there are SO many CoD clones out there that fail in almost every conceivable aspect.

Sonic, the new ones are pure poop i can't belive people still buy them. Oh, and BF, CoD, Halo and other mainstream FPS. Why can't they just make free updates for the old games, oh now i remember BECAUSE THEY WANT TO BE ABLE TO SWIM IN MONEY.

While it doesn't necessarily count as a franchise, I don't like the games in the Sonic Franchise that are made to appeal to the nostalgia-driven crowd, with the exception of Sonic Generations because it was actually really good.

Kingdom Hearts. Unless you make a PC version for all of them STOP DOING IT! Seriously! To play the whole series you need 10 consoles... freaking ripoff!!!

Emulators solve this problem.

I'd say it's time to put Resident Evil to bed.

I want to see the entire idea of a video game "franchise" go away for good. Seriously, there is nothing wrong with making a stand-alone video game. Perhaps in a few exceptional cases, a sequel or two should be granted but this constant expectation of a sequel is making people greedy and lacking in gratitude.

Agreed. Video Games are going the way of the Movie in terms of entertainment.  If the first one was good, golly gee we should make a plethora more to rain in the $$$.  Any movie franchise has this problem and video games are just following suit. 9 times out of 10 a great movie never has a sequel that supasses the first one, and though this isn't quite true for games, making more than 3 in a franchise seems to follow the same logic.

However, remakes of video games make sense, since some of the best and beloved games in history were made for/on consoles that the younger generations can't readily get a hold of, much less enjoy because of 'simpler' times.  Doing this without althering the game besides graphical and console upgrades allows for older fans to potentially fall in love with an old game made new all over again as well as bring new fans to the table to enjoy what they missed out on.

Overall, any and all WWII (and war in general) FPS's (mainly because of over saturation), and franchise that does NOT reinvent the wheel with every release, RPG's that do nothing for continuity and/or just never end (looking at you final fantasy), and games that have you going in circles and really make you feel like you are trying to find the tipping point between in the definition of insanity (as according to Einstein) and fun.

Call of Duty easily. Used to be obsessed with it, but now I've realised how bad they are. Especially Ghosts.

Oh, and also Ride to Hell: Retribution. That game can go burn. Never played, but I know why it's one of the worst games ever.

If I remember anymore I'll be back

Well, the availability of game compilations and online stores has solved that problem pretty well. I'm betting a huge percentage of Wii U sales, for example were driven solely by the ability to play Earthbound without the original Super Nintendo cartridge and without an emulator. Trying to "update" the graphics seems like bastardization to me.

The entire Modern Military Shooter subgenre. It's just all bland and uninspired rubbish. It would also be nice to see Nintendo roll out some new IP rather than the same rehashes.

I can neither confirm nor deny myself being the cause of electrical related malfunctions. Anyways, you wouldn't happen to have a jar of replacement magic smoke would you?

I mentioned graphics because that's usually a must among remakes whether people like it or not.  Along the same topic as this, I actually like what Nintendo is doing terms of older games being available for new gamers. I just downloaded The Legend of Zelda for my 3DS, the best games are ones left untouched I must say.  Nintendo is showing that you don't need to "update" a game to give it a solid new fandom. I really just mentioned graphics because I thought of the Ocarina of Time remake. I would loooooooove to play the Earthbound! That game is right up my ally for good rpg's, but alas, no Wii U (cuz I think it's a silly system personally and I am by no means rich enough to buy one), and as if I can get my hands on a SNES, let alone the game....

Call of Duty: This series has "generic", "linear" and "overrated" written all over it.

Super Mario: Milked to death since 1985

Super Street Fighter: And you thought CoD was repackaged over, and over, and over!

I'm a huge retro gamer. I mean hell... I still have a "Virtual boy" and it still works... Though I can't really say what game franchise I would hate to see. There have been some terrible games like Zelda 2, TMNT and Ghostbusters for the NES... But I can't say I wouldn't want to see a game be around. I'm a gamer, and I appreciate all games of all forms. :3

Anything M rated. I'm disgusted in anything that's as violent and awful as those.

Not everything rated M is necessarily gory or awful, there's a lot of games that are pretty thought-provoking and/or emotional as well. I mean, I teared up a LOT during the new Tomb Raider, despite there being a bit of a gap between Lara's actions and the game content. :-p And Bioshock is incredibly set and has a really cool storyline.

Obviously there are games out there that give that rating a bad name, but that's not really a reason to get rid of all of them.

Anyways, some series I would be happy to see go:

-Killzone and CoD

-Fallout (they're going to get really bad, really fast)

-Grand Theft Auto

-(potentially) Saints Row

-KINGDOM HEARTS EW EW EW :c (and Final Fantasy)

-Devil May Cry

-pretty much every Asian fighting game series ever. There are way too many.

-Sonic

-Batman

-Bioshock, Mass Effect, Portal (PLEASE END THEM ON A GOOD NOTE LOL)

There's more but I am lazy.

Unless Capcom either finally get their shit together or they are given to publishers/developers who actually care, all Capcom franchises(mainly Resident Evil)

Unless they either intend to return to WWII or at least try to capture what made the franchise great in the first place, Medal of Honor

The G's of War(God and Gears), it's time to let these guys go Sony and M$

Any Mario Spin-off(especially Mario Party) that isn't an RPG or Mario Kart. Your better off just turning these into new franchises

The Dynasty Warriors, if you thought Call of Duty was repetition at its worst, then you obviously haven't played Dynasty Warriors yet

As for major games I would mind seeing go kaput, I would say the Need for Speed franchise has lived well beyond its expiration date.

Some other things i wouldn't mind see disappear would be Zynga games, never saw the appeal.

@Queenie - MASS EFFECT!!!NEVER!!LUNA DECREES SOO!! (LOL JK)
