Pony's Ear Shape

This is something I was thinking a lot, what shape are the pony's ears?

To me, there are 2 ways to see them, what do you think is the right way? Forward or to the sides?

it all depends on what angle you view them

to me, i always view them as you look at a pony's head from the fron't, they stand sideways. but that's just me.

Horses/Ponies actually communicate with their ears and they move their ears depending on mood. So it really depends on what mood the animal is in.

Logically they face forward but with the ability of maneuverability to fold back on themselves as we often see them do. The eyes and the ears are very prominent features of these ponies and were the first features that I took notice on these characters and that's what keeps me interested in the show but Its a toss up between Rarity and Luna though of who's face I love more.

 

Its mainly in their eyes more then ears but its both that makes the real difference

I mean normally, like in the MLP Forums header image, there are 2 ways to see the ears. 1 way is the ears looking forward, another way is the ears looking the direction of what side that ear is on (different directions).

I might draw an image on my 3DS if you don't understand me.

 

For me, I see the ears looking to the sides of the pony's heads, it looks better to me. I think most people will say forward, though.

I never thought about the shape much, I didn't think it was ever relevant.

I only think of them whilst drawing and even then I take no notice.

In my art style, I like to see the ear's line be towards the head, not away from it, but that's just me.

I can see the ear's shape on both sides, judging from the angle.
