There's so much hate and stereotyping going on in this thread is hurts. I thought we'd all be above doing that shit since we're all grown-ass adults that like colorful ponies and get mocked regularly for it.

Fuck, it might as well be. If you would have showed me this before any other MLP media, I would have told you that it's defiantly from Japan.

 

The visuals from this remind me of a One Piece opening.

 

But really, if it were an anime it wouldn't be much different than what it is. Really the only difference would be longer, more consistent story arcs (one major overarching villain per season) and a much greater reliance on the Elements. It already has a lot of the markings of a Magical Girl show.

Friendship Is Magic actually has a strong degree of correlation to Sailor Moon; as evidence, I show you this illustration (LARGE):

 

Makoto and Applejack is an especially strong correlation, considering both have already lost their parents.

The pairings in this picture aren't quite right. As a devoted fan of Sailor Moon, I have to comment.

 

Sailor Mars-Fluttershy...Check. Although Mars is the smartest of the Sailor Scouts, she is also very shy and demure.

 

Now for my corrections:

 

Sailor Venus-Rarity. Sailor V is a star, and even has her own video game in the Sailor Moon universe. Her glamor is best matched by Rarity.

Sailor Jupiter-Rainbow Dash Both have a brash tomboy personality and excel at sports.

Sailor Mars-Applejack. Both have a very strong work ethic and don't put up with too much nonsense.

Sailor Moon aka The Moon Princess-Princess Twilight Sparkle...AND Pinkie Pie! That needs some explaining. Sailor Moon is a bit of a dimwit, with a bubbly outgoing friendly personality. Her happy-go-lucky nature binds the scouts together. That's her Pinkie Pie aspect. As the Moon Princess though, she is powerful enough, and caring enough, to protect all of her friends and defeat nearly any enemy. Much like Twilight Sparkle.

@@cuteycindyhoney, interesting correlations. I like that you combine Pinkie and Twilight in Usagi. But I still prefer the correlations that the artist drew. Rainbow Dash is an athletic tomboy...but so is Applejack. So I think Jupter-Applejack is a more appropriate doppel (plus there's the dead parents similarity).

As for Rarity, just look at the Sailor Moon wiki entry: "In the anime, Rei is a fiery, boy-crazed miko with ambitions to become a singer, songwriter, model, voice actress".

Boy crazy? (Blueblood and Trenderhood) Model? ("Green Isn't Your Color") Singer? Well Rarity doesn't sing professionally but it's easy to imagine. I still think Rei-Rarity works.

Actually, Jupiter had no real interest in sports, even though she was great at them. Her dream is to grow her own crops and cook for people to make them happy. Venus is the sports nut.

It's actually kinda hard to pair them based on personality and interests...not to mention Moon is astronomically more powerful then all of them put together

From what I've seen the greatest chunk seems to be in the 18-22 area with the 22-30 gap being a close second.

If FiM were an anime...

 

 

• Twilight would launch into an epic, angry five minute speech about avenging her grandfather before defeating every villain in the show.
• Pinkie Pie would be in scantily clothes, whilst the rest of the cast wear perfectly normal outfits.
• Given the way people see her, RD would probably be a fanservice magnet
• The Mane 6 would all be 10 years old. Celestia; the wise and ancient ruler on the other hand, would be about 15.
• Flash Sentry would have the whole Mane 6 after him with seemingly no explanation whatsoever
• The Apple Pie fight scene in Over a Barrel would've been set to an epic Latin orchestration

stereotypes aside, I wouldn't really care(just as long as they avoid said stereotyping), and I'd actually like to see a more Sailormoon take on it(Sailormoon MLP art is a guilty pleasure of mine)

It would be epic. A crowning achievement of humankind. Attack on Titan would be about as entertaining as G3.5 by comparison. It would have lots of blood, lots of metal music, multi-episode long fight scenes, philosophical and intellectual dialogue, all sorts of comedy and forth wall breaking, fan service, girl on girl romance, with relationships explored in great detail, and a whole bunch of other stuff I can't cram in because it would be too awesome for this one comment alone.

Gee, seems to be a real big hate against anime here. Unless is correct and it's all good natured fun, although I'm in doubt due to the number of similar comments. For some reason, I find this odd. Of course, this might be because I'm an avid and open otaku (manga/anime enthusiast) but a closet brony. Now I can't necessarily argue against the cliches, even my favorites have their fair share of fanservice and of course there's the action, that's part of why I love them.

 

That being said, they're two separate fandoms. I like Code Geass, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Eureka 7. Strong storylines that have things you won't notice til later with interesting characters and awesome fight scenes. And usually they're a little dark. MLP is a whole different animal, with a less linear episodic episodes (you don't need to watch them in order, less combat, and a much cheerier tone than a story about two youths trying to change the world but by different means in a pessimistic setting. Were MLP an anime, I imagine it would be more like Yotsuba+ or Azumanga Daioh. Younger characters, not that you could necessarily tell by looks, going on multiple semi-connected adventures with the occasional use of the Elements. Sounds slightly similar but I imagine that it would be more boring than the original. Slice of Life animes aren't quite tge same as thnes. All in all, MLP is still better off as is, not because of possible anti-femitism or more fanservice of a different variety, but because it would lessen the more focused nature of it.

Also if I remember correctly I think I saw a manga of MLP.
