   Well, I wanna pet a llama someday... well, pet as many new animals as I can. And, uhm, maybe someday be on the receiving end...

 I do have to agree on Fluttershy's stance on "sometimes its good to be the pet."

Hard to say, it seems that all Ponies can procreate with each other. That would make them more a race than a species. But the term race in the biological way is usually used for pets. I would call them a subspecies. But I am not a biologist and so, I am not 100% sure.
