Do you work as well as go to school? yes, part time during the school year, full time in summer, and the summer before I got married, I had 2 full time jobs and 1 part time job at the same time (to pay for the wedding)

I want to go back to school to get a degree in something more pragmatic, but now I live in too rural of an area to justify going back to school, because that either means a 4 hour daily drive, or moving.  But I am already settled down, owning a house and have a stable (albeit min wage) job, so for the time being, I am content.

I'm 19

I'm majoring in Music Education. I chose it because I've had amazing music teachers all my life who have inspired me to do the best I possibly can, and I hope to do the same with my students.

I wouldn't really call it a "club", but I am in a performing Jazz guitar ensemble.

I live off campus with my family, but I am heavily thinking about moving on campus.

I've only worked during the summers, but I am currently looking for a part time job.

Yes, Im currently working in my field.  (for those going into IT, let me give you an advice, once your done in one class, like Network Security for an example, go take a Certification test for that exact class in a facility.  Once you obtain it, there is a high guarantee you will get a job).

What year are you? Good question, I have been attending a local junior college off and on for nearly 10 years (life has a troublesome way of getting in the way). I only have a few credits left until I can transfer so it is looking like Sophmore year probably.

What's your major? Technically it is History/Political Science but I have plans to change it but I am not sure to what exactly yet. I am sort of mulling over becoming a personal trainer or getting into computers and I am trying to become an author so it will probably revolve around one of those three.

 

How did you choose it? History has always been my favorite subject in school and have been interested in politics for a while and have had thoughts about becoming a History teacher.

 

Are you in any clubs? I wish I could but I just don't have the time.

For off campus kids, with roomates or at home w/parents? At first I lived at the home I grew up in with my Mom and then moved into an apartment with a room mate and stayed there for a couple of years. Then I bought a house with my Dad and my Mom moved in with us and we all helped each other out, my Dad passed away two years ago as of 2 weeks from now which is also one of the main reasons why I chose my current avatar. So now it is just me and my Mom.

 

Do you work as well as go to school? Yes and because of that and other factors I have burned out multiple times. Most of the time I have been at school I have worked in a grocery store, I started in the Service Deli, wasn't very good at it and was then made a General Merchandise Clerk (non food, bread and some non parishable foods stocker). I was promoted very quickly to a food clerk and backup dairy clerk, and was then made a 3rd and then 2nd dairy clerk. I was made a backup checker against my wishes which along with other factors has made my job a personal hell for me.

How did you choose it?  When I was 16, I swore to myself that I would never have an office job. When I got to college, my mom begged me to take an accounting course. She thought I might like it and even if I didn't, she believed accounting was one of the most useful electives one could have. For about a year and a half, she did this to me. I finally took a Financial Accounting class just to shut her up. For the first few weeks, it was info overload. But I stuck with it and suddenly the lightbulb came on and I just understood everything. I knew what degree I wanted to pursue. And I'm eating my own words the whole time I study this 

 

Are you in any clubs? Phi Beta Lambta Lambda last year. Been meaning to get in this year. It's the co-ed accounting/business fraternity. My school is pretty small so most fraternities are co-ed.

 

Do you live on or off campus? I live in an apartment next to campus. But it's not on campus

Do you work as well as go to school? Still looking for one. I think I'm just gonna quit looking for any ol' job and find an internship so I can get a start on my career

 

Anything else? I noticed I was the first vote to say I'm going to grad school. I plan to get a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in the future. You need 30 extra hours of upper level accounting classes to do it. One way is to double major. The other route is to get a master's degree. I'm taking the latter route

How did you choose it? Long story. I'm currently in my first year. I'm in a two year program, after which I do 2 more years to get my BCom. I chose the program because part of it is a mandatory international internship, and I wanted to travel. The first two years have a more or less set class list, but I needed to plan my last two years. I picked a major on a whim (it seemed applicable) so I could figure out what pre-requisites I needed. Yep. 4 years and over $30,000 planned in about 2 hours.

Are you in any clubs? Ain't nopony got time (or social skills) for that.

Do you live on or off campus? Still live with my parents.

Do you work as well as go to school? Part time at a grocery store.

Hmm... I can't do this justice but the simple answer is that we can do better. Evolution is stupid and in a hundred-hundred different ways the mechanisms we have now that make us us are sub-optimal. I want to help change it.

 

The next step in humanity's evolution is going to be artificial- even if I have to help force it to be so.

 

My first goal is relatively simple, in the grand scheme of things: redesign the eye and propagate its new form- whether biological or synthetic.

Double major in philosophy and chemistry

How did you choose it?

Well, I went to the honors college office and spoke to my advisor about it.

Why, though?  Because I like the subject of philosophy as it pertrains to making good arguments and gets into very deep questions.  Chemistry because it was originally my sole major and I was too far into it to drop it as a major.

Lets see... I'm part of the school's ACS chapter, and I am the president of the school's brony group (no, I created the school's brony group!)

Do you live on or off campus?

Still on campus.  I don't drive and I don't want to live with my parents.

n/a, although when I was living off campus it was with my parents.

Used to work at the school's student union's Papa John's, but I quit that yesterday because I can no longer stand it.

How I chose it:

I just genuinely enjoy programming and I've always had a bit of a knack for it. People think it's a bit strange because I'm not a huge fan of math, but I'm just trying to do what I enjoy.

 

Any clubs:

Nope. To be perfectly honest, I'm not much of a social person in real life. Acquaintances come and go for me; very few of them get promoted to full fledged friend status. It takes a very long time and requires effort from both parties.

 

On/Off campus: Off, it's much cheaper. I live with my parents and fix all their technology problems

Work: I don't work while I'm in school; I do my work in the summer and survive off that nice income.

 

Anything else?

I may be going into coop next year if I keep my marks above a certain percentage and return after about 2 years of work to complete the final year.

How did you choose it? I considered it as far back as my junior year of high school, then took an AP Psychology course as a senior and that's what truly won me over. I want to be a counselor/clinical social worker.

Are you in any clubs? Yes, a religious organization (not one that proselytizes on campus :P) and one that's focused on nerdy stuff in general. It includes anime fans, gamers, D&D players, Lord of the Rings fans, Star Wars fans, etc... even a few bronies.

Do you live on or off campus? I will live off campus this year, but it'll be in a university owned apartment.

For off campus kids, with roommates or at home w/parents? I'll be living with 3 roommates. One of them is a very good friend of mine, the other two are folks I've never met before in my life so we'll see how that goes. 

Do you work as well as go to school? I've driven for food delivery services like Uber Eats and DoorDash during the semester because they are very flexible when you're a student and worked a "real" job while I've been home. It's an easy way to earn a few hundred bucks a month. But I'll be looking for a regular part-time job once I go back up to school. There's this calzone place in town I really want to work at but if not them, there are still plenty of other options for students.
