Dattebayo 2,850 April 9, 2014 Share April 9, 2014 Yes. Well, you just try pronouncing Grabauskas correctly first time. It's been done once in my presence. Once. Gra-Bau-skas?Is that how it's pronounced? ^Click for my Deviant Art^ You truly are the Rosa Parks of not understanding what r34 is.
~Silver Essence~ 2,625 April 9, 2014 Share April 9, 2014 Quite frankly not at all. Even at the most trickiest of names, I never mispronounce them.
Untitled Goose Q 5,137 April 9, 2014 Share April 9, 2014 Gra-Bau-skas? Is that how it's pronounced? Depends. How are you pronouncing the "au"? That's what causes most people issues, for some reason. The most amusing mis pronunciation I have ever had was grab-your-house-keys. Though I think that was deliberate. Celtore 2,770 April 10, 2014 Share April 10, 2014 (edited) I'm not going to post it, but it's a fairly heavy polish last name. So yes, mispronunciation happens fairly often. I sometimes respond with the casual pronunciation or the formal pronunciation (fully accented correctly) depending on how annoyed I am with the person messing it up. (ex, telemarketers: formal; friends: casual.) Edited April 10, 2014 by Celtore
PsychedelicPony 440 April 10, 2014 Share April 10, 2014 My last name is Crowel, and not only does it get pronounced wrong all the time (its Cr-ow (as in hurting youself)- ul) they pronounce it either Crow-el, Crow-l, or sometimes like Crowley for some reason. It gets spelled wrong constantly, even by doctor's official files as either Crowell, Crowl, Crowley, and the like. Envy 6,188 April 10, 2014 Share April 10, 2014 My first name is so popular that it's practically impossible to pronounce it incorrectly. My last name, however, is always mispronounced. lol Everything needs more woodwind!
CT-1138 3,182 April 10, 2014 Share April 10, 2014 (edited) Kowalski is the simplest of the Polish surnames to pronounce! Seriously! I can't believe how often that gets butchered. My name's not "Kawasaki", it's not "Kahwahski", it's "Koh-wall-ski". Yes, that simple. Frith is Magick 1,471 April 10, 2014 Share April 10, 2014 Some people mispronounce my first name. I'm actually chill with it. I normally hate my name, but the mispronounced version sounds cooler and slightly sexier. Keep flyin'
Orablanco Account 3,707 April 10, 2014 Share April 10, 2014 Surprisingly often, and always when my name is being announced, like over the intercom or something, oddly enough. Come on guys, is NAME WITHHELD really that hard to pronounce? 3 Onwards to my DeviantArt page! Sig by the illustrious Kyoshi!
BastementSparkle 20,328 April 10, 2014 Share April 10, 2014 My name's Dylan. One of my elementary school teachers pronounced it Die-Laan once. I have no idea how she made that mistake. Maybe she was foreign, I don't remember her very well outside of that incident. Twilight is best pony. Why hello MLPForums! What have ya been up to? Thrashy 2,800 April 10, 2014 Share April 10, 2014 Yep. People would butcher my original last name, Sausedo, in many different ways, some of them quite creative. The two most common ones I ever heard were "Salcedo" and "Sausalito" (like the cookie). No clue where the hell those Ls are coming from. I guess people just have a thing for the letter L. ~Sugar Sprinkles~ 638 April 10, 2014 Share April 10, 2014 Not really, My real name is Samantha. But, everyone calls me Sammyy or Sam. cuteycindyhoney 13,309 April 10, 2014 Share April 10, 2014 Nobody ever pronounces my name wrong, but I am getting very tired of my last name (now hyphenated) being spelled wrong! Thank you Sparklefan1234!!!
Sir Wulfington 276 April 10, 2014 Share April 10, 2014 This one kid many years ago tried to "correct me" on how to pronounce my own name......no, I'm serious. Well actually, now that I recall, it was how to spell my own name (he was convinced that George was spelt "Jorge"), but still.....that was an....interesting bus ride. ravensilvertail 34 April 10, 2014 Share April 10, 2014 Yeah. Some people have called me Ryan, Raina, Rainee. Due to the mispronunciations of my name, I've gotten several mail pieces to join in a beauty pageant. Rather embarassing.
Lagom 204 April 10, 2014 Share April 10, 2014 Well my name has some times been pronounced wrongly, because it was pronounced as if it started with si instead of cha, but my last name.. About 40 percent or less can't get it right at first. xD
Neon Fire 473 April 10, 2014 Share April 10, 2014 UGH, yes! It's really annoying. My real name is Ariel, so a lot of times people pronounce it like the word "aerial." Or on rare occasions, "or-ee-el" like...what? And on top of that, they'll be like "Oh, like the little mermaid?" NO. NOT LIKE THAT. It gets really annoying.
