One of my favorite musicals of all time has got to be the Cell Block Tango from Chicago. Anyone else like musicals?

*NOTE: your favorite can be anywhere. whether it's MLP: FiM or not. Cartoon or Live Action.

Well this may be cliche, but I've always loved The Phantom of the Opera.

The setup, the characters, the songs, it's all so great!

Fun fact, my mom actually went into labor during the intermission so that musical may have been the first thing my little ears heard.

What do ya think?

Assassins is fairly controversial musical, as one would expect from the subject matter, but I learnt a lot of history and the songs are (unfortunately?) catchy as heck. It saddens me that it's one of the lesser known works of Sondheim.

I would have to say that now that I have seen Book of Mormon, that is topping my list.  What a funny show that is.  Add follow ups with Sweeney Todd (original Broadway version), Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Little Night Music and Into the Woods.........OK I guess I have a lot of favorites!

And I thought I knew all the Sondheim musicals.  This is a new one on me!  And according to the internet it won 5 Tony Awards.  Where the heck was I?

To be fair, it has been a while since it's been on Broadway. One of the things that made me excited about doing that monster PMV was informing people of its existence. A hidden gem I found one day on, of all places, a forum for playing a social game called Mafia.

...Actually, that isn't too incomprehensible.

Sweeney Todd is a gem. I actually got the chance to see Avenue Q on broadway once and it was magical

Usually I hate musicals. It just sounds odd to me when people sing instead of talking.

But I have one exception to that rule, and this is it: "Across the Universe".

It is a musical movie based on the songs of The Beatles, glued together into a nice and moving story.

I really like how they performed all these songs and make them fit the storyline.

Edit: From some odd reasons I also like all the songs in MLP:FiM, although I usually hate songs in cartoons/movies, especially these Disney-esque ones.

Fiddler on the Roof is almost my favorite musical:

(sorry couldn't help but post that :muffins: )

But my favorite is Les Miserables :

I know there's a place you walked
Where love falls from the trees
My heart is like a broken cup
I only feel right on my knees.
I spit out like a sewer hole
Yet still receive your kiss
How can I measure up to anyone now
After such a love as this?
