Okay at first I just had this as a status but I thought why not make a topic just cause? :P

What is the best old gaming console in your opinion and why? Personally I've never played any of these, I'm a little young, though I recently found a website where you can buy these old consoles and am looking into buying one ;)

If theres anything you think I should add to the poll, do tell me and I'd be happy to oblige :)

Cool things people have said about me:

Never heard of him but I guess just you mentioning him is a good reason not to go anywhere near that name.

(In reference to an author I suggested.)

The gameboy advance. The SP model was ground-breaking in terms of design with its backlight and clamshell. It also has a library of games spanning all the way back to the original gameboy since it's reverse compatible with all of them. It's also the console I have the most games for (even when not counting the gameboy ones) and it was the host for one of my favourite series, the megaman battle network games.

I agree! Sega is so underrated! They had some great consoles! The Sega mega Drive, Dreamcast etc.

Atari 2600

Without it, non of you would be playing video games.

True, but it also gave us E.T the game, which spelled the end of Atari!

Gameboy Advance. Zelda, Final Fantasy, Pokemon, Sonic. So much fun. I still had it until a couple of years ago, when I lost it in a move.

Of course, I has GBA4iOS, so it's all good.

Tennis for Two was made for the oscilloscope in 1958. c:

But PS1 was a pretty fantastic console.

How many people do you know that owned an oscillioscope? Without the 2600, you would not have console gaming.

Pong machines were readily available in the market starting in 1972. c:

Get your spade connectors ready.

Also the Magnavox Odyssey, a home console with replaceable cartridges, was released around the same time as the Pong machines.

PPong machines only had one game. without the 2600 you would not have consoles with interchangeable games. TThey may not have been the first, but they took the market.

Loved my SNES, Nintendo 64, Original Gameboy, PlayStation 1, oh and lets not forget the Sega Genesis. Gosh these consoles were the best growing up. Most of them were my Dad's when he was a kid/teen. Seeing as I was born in the 90's.

There was a reason the odyssey never caught on like the 2600.

The SNES holds a soft spot in my heart because of Super Metroid as well as a few other games, but it's not my choice.

Dreamcast is my choice. It didn't get nearly the love it deserved. Graphics were great, the controller was great, the accessories for the system were just about boundless. Being able to play burned games was also a quirky feature of the earlier models. I spent many hours playing Soul Calibur, Marvel vs Capcom 2, RE3, and plenty of other games on mine. Use to carry the VMU with me too and play the little mini games at school and such.

The DC2 was going to be great. I blame M$ and their horrible monstrosities for the demise of a legendary console company.
