I don't feel we've gotten enough of a look at it to really say much. We got the outside, a couple of corridors and the main room. That's about it. It does seem a little too...unrefined compared to the other castles though.

Suppose that fits Twilight being a new princess and all.

I like it - my only complaint is one that can't really be helped, so I'll keep my mouth shut on that one :D

Of course, what I like about it is that it puts Ponyville on the map, pretty much - like the Crystal Empire. It turned Ponyville into a kingdom, in my eyes, and I like Rarity, and Rarity has a chair in Twilight's circle, so Rarity may someday be the princess I know she is...

I did like the chairs though, not so much Jedi Council I think, more Knights of the Round Table. Kind of the same idea though I guess.

You know what I meant. Still you are right. Should I change the post to reflect that better?

I like the concept of it, but I'm still wondering why it's made of crystal...It's nice that it is still shaped like a tree, but the crystal just gives the impression of a cold, non-homely atmosphere.

Yep, the old library felt more warm.

Nah, I was just saying what came to mind when I saw the chairs.

Frankly, I think it's perfect. The Tree of Harmony gave of itself in rewarding Twilight for saving the world. The chest was in effect it's seed. It managed to roughly replicate Twilight's lost library home, while becoming something fit for a Princess. I am quite happy with the design. It will remind the ponies (and us) that this new castle came forth directly from the Tree of Harmony. I don't think it would have worked if the new castle looked like it was constructed of stone or wood, instead of magically grown from a powerful crystalline entity.

Meh.

I don't really care about the castle or its appearance one way or the other, but as already stated it does seem a bit out of place being a large crystaline structure sticking up in the center of a small village like Ponyville.

It did surprise me though, because I honestly believed that Rainbow Power would have renovated the Royal Sisters old castle in the Everfree since the Mane Six were working on fixing it up, instead of a brand new one...

Well, the castle looks kinda out of place, I mean, Canterlot Castle looks in place with the architecture of the town, so does the Crystal Empire, but Twily's is a shiny and beautiful castle in a town with plain houses, it stands out too much in Ponyvile. Well, that's the only flaw in my opinion, but I like the castle itself

I love the new castle. I can't quite explain why, but I got all giddy with excitement when I saw it in the end.

It's like... well, it's almost like we're actually watching the lives of the mane 6 unfold. It's as if Twilight is growing up and fulfilling her destiny, just as we all are, as each season passes.

And that's pretty freaking cool. I was just as happy when I saw Twilight get her new place as I was when I saw my own new home for the first time, months ago.

The Castle of the Two Sisters is being restored as an historical and cultural site.

While I agree with a lot of the new castle's criticisms, I'm not really all that bent out of shape about it.

In any case, I'm glad that her friends are actually getting recognition for a change with their thrones and becoming part of a royal council (with Spike!)

Too bad Discord doesn't get one for being bad, though...

Originally, the old Golden Oaks library was a part of Twilight's older identity as a bookworm.  But now that the library is gone and replaced by a palace, it means that an old part of Twilight had died with it, and a new part of her took its place.

If anything, I get the feeling that Twilight Sparkle is no longer allowed to be herself.  She no longer has free will, and can't read as many books as she used to, not just because her library is destroyed alongside every book in it, but also because she now has to run all of Equestria as its Princess of Friendship inside her new palace.

Hell, the writers might as well give Twilight immortality as her next "reward" for saving Equestria or completing a test.  Then, in the series finale, we cut to one-thousand years into the future, where we see an immortal Twilight Sparkle eternally mourning the deaths of all five of her friends (and kind of, sort of Spike, because he probably died of old age, too).

As for the design itself, I'd have to wait until Season Five to see if it warms up to me.  In the meantime... Littlest Pet Shop Season Three!

After a few days and re-watching the episode some times, I've concluded that this crystal thing doesn't belong in Ponyville.

I would prefer something with Ponyvile's architecture. Maybe something like the town hall.

That thing looks like the Tree of Harmony, sure. But that tree didn't belong in Ponyville to begin with. The idea is good but the execution sucks, just like the Rainbow Power.

For dumb, self-important fics about mythology, ponies and fascist griffons that can't figure friendship out.

And I'm just getting started.

I love it, but it does clash with the town's style...

I agree. The castle is wonderful, but it doesn't fit in with Ponyville, that's all.

Wonderful...well, I don't think the Crystal fits in ponyville or with Twilight really. In fact I think it should have been different, howeve I am not offended by it as it really doesn't have an impact on the universe as a whole. Its a new pad, Baller and straight high life for Twily and company.

On that note I DO love the Jedi Friendship council seats for our fav mane six.

I have no issue with the new castle either. It stands on the outskirts so it doesn't have as much impact on the provincial feel of Ponyville as much as it would have if it grew right on top of the original library. Kudos to the creative team for that.

I am looking forward to seeing the mysteries of the new castle (does it have an official name?) being explored a little in season 5.

I don't know if I like the idea of the "council".

The episode starts with Twilight questioning her role in Equestria and all I got from this episode was a bit of Meghan's crystal fetish, Discord fan pandering, a fight scene and Twilight's palace. So what is she supposed to be doing in there?

If this show touched in politics or anything relatively close, I'd think that ponies would take their problems to Twilight and she'd do (or not) something about it. While she's trying to get her friends to agree, said pony is taking the train to Canterlot because Celestia doesn't need to talk about stuff to solve problems...

I like the idea that the palace came from the tree that is tied to my beloved Elements of Harmony, and I can look beyond the fact that the palace looks like Cadance's holiday home. But it's pointless. It's nice, but the keys had more to do with the individual elements than with the friendship between the girls and Twilight forgiving that gigantic prick because she must have read the script.

Sigh... It's going to be a long wait until season five.

I like Twilight's new crib, even though I miss the old library. :(

The design of the castle looks good, but I do agree that it is a little out of place.

And I do like the idea of the council.

I like the castle. It was "born" from the box which came from the Tree of Harmony. And thus her castle retains the Tree of Harmony aesthetics. It's like the Tree of Harmony made Twilights castle in it's image. It probably keeps her castle connected to the power of the Tree of Harmony.  It may not match Ponyville, but that's not the purpose of the castle, and the Tree of Harmony put it close to Twilights friends.

A castle made from the Tree of Harmony which was put close to Twilights friends. Looking forward to see what they do with this in season 5.
