A Christmas episode?

Pastel

Recommended Posts

So I'm pretty sure that after 4 seasons, they haven't made a Christmas episode yet...

I was wondering if they even made an allusion to it in the show? I can't find one. Maybe it's not called "Christmas" in Equestria...

And I really want a Christmas episode, what do you think?

I like Christianity out of my ponies thank you very much.

Winter Wrap up and Hearths Warming Eve is good enough. We don't need commercialized non-actaully jesus birthday too.

It's Hearth Warming, Twilight Sparkle!

They've done Hearth Warming's Eve, why not do the actual holiday itself?

The commercialized feelgood season is as good of an excuse to have a Christmas episode. If they don't make any direct allusions to the Christianity side (which would break a lot of the world's canon into absurdity) they could do it.

But a Christmas-esque holiday like Heart's Warming Eve is a good substitute.

Hearts Warming Eve is probably the closest thing we will get to Christmas in the show, it is not quite a "Christmas" episode but it still serves that function well enough. The similarities are quite obvious but with enough difference to not get the PC police on the warpath.

As I said, using the actual holiday could potentially do a lot of harm to Equestria's world-building as it would imply a godly being higher than Celestia and the other Alicorns that would supercede all other magical beings forever. Then it would bring in all the "THIS IS ANTI-CHRISTIAN AND NON-BIBLICAL BECAUSE THEY USE MAGIC AND PEOPLE WORSHIP THINGS OTHER THAN GOD" people worse than they ever were before because then they'd have a foot in the door.

It's really best not to use the holiday in a fictional world. They've made their own holidays that capture the spirit with none of the bullshit and it works out just fine.

Thanks for the replies!

I don't find "Hearth's Warming Eve" is really a Christmas episode.

By Christmas, I mean the snow, the gifts, the Christmas trees, the songs, the red and white clothes... And I believe the word "Christmas" (or something similar) wasn't mentioned in this episode at all.

I like Christianity out of my ponies thank you very much.

I didn't think of this, you're right. As it's a religious commemoration, we may not see it in the show... :(

It's My Little Pony, like Transformers, it exists for the sole reason of making money. Twilights castle? Plot? yes.....New Playset? YEP

This isn't a knock at hasbro, it's just why ponies exist, and it happens in all generations. So, it's already commercilized to the n'th degree.

Do we really wanna make it even more commercial? Christmas episode will just give hasbro activist groups (even more) annoyed at them.

Umm, why does Hearth Warming have to be religious? What if the pony holiday has to do with the gathering of family and ftiends to celebrate their love for each other by giving gifts? My Little Pony's Halloween (Nightmare Night) still keeps the candy and the costumes, but leaves out the controversy of it being 'Satan's holiday'. Hearth Warming could be the idea of Christmas without the religious parts of it.

There's Hearth's Warming Eve, butI'm pretty sure you're talking about a more tradional Christmas episode. I'd like to see a traditional Christmas-like episode. I was actually disappointed that we didn't get one, and instead got, imo, a ho-hum play about the origins of Equestria(which actually annoys me since it makes the history even more confusing). And I feel a lot of themes, traditions and the nature of Christmas is really good for a show like this.

Just as long as they keep that commercialized/materialistic crap about Christmas out, as well as the religious parts(imo, not everyone needs to be religious, nor understand the religious parts to understand it)

What's it matter if it improves upon the world-building aspects? Things like friendship, warmth and generosity to others is kind of a staple of the show already so it wouldn't change things that much.

Your question was "Why not do the actual holiday" and that's why. Unless I misunderstood the question. The actual holiday of Christmas would cause a host of really dumb issues with the show and the creators have already been known to give in to enough uproar from certain people and change things in future airings.

Blobulle's question was: is there a Christmas episode?

The answer: Hearth Warming Eve is meant to represent Christmas Eve so no.

Then I said, why not make an episode on Hearth Warming?

ooh I see where you got confused. No, friend. I meant that they already did the EVE so why not just so the holiday Hearth Warming. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm not saying it can't. I'm just saying that's not why these decisions are made on the Hasbro end.

Equestria Girls, yeh, there's a moral there. There's also a entirely new toy line.

Crystal Ponies, Royal Wedding, Princess Twilight, etc.

It's actually very interesting this generation because of bronies. Toys -Blindbags, Trading Cards, etc- that dwell past the surface level of the show are catered more toward we whom are so invested in it, that we dub ourselves bronies. MLP has never come under such widespread fan interpetations before.

Again, this isn't a bad thing, we like ponies, we like the show, so .... we buy the stuff. Win Win.

And if people, not just little girls, get some good morals out of it all too, double win. Overall positive things.

Hearth's Warming Eve, second season.

Also, I think the last we need in MLP is any references to religion, human or pony. I'd hate to see some of the things that occurred in our history repeated in Equestria.

It's interesting that I never remembered a Christmas episode but when I looked at Hearth's Warming on You Tube it is chock full of Christmas trees and wreaths and it really was the MLP version of a Christmas episode.  I watched the older ones all in a row which is probably why I didn't remember.

But this one was 2011 so it has been a while.  Since they travelled to Canterlot for that celebration maybe they could have a celebration that takes place in Ponyville.

I do agree though that no matter what religion you are, Christmas has become a season of good will and good feelings and as long as it is done as a season and not religious then it should hopefully not offend anyone.

Look around when they were in Canterlot in that episode.  They had all that stuff- snow, "Christmas" trees, candy canes, a gingerbread house (which Pinkie ate).  In fact, the only thing they didn't have was the word "Christmas".

And if you want to introduce actual christianity into the series, that would cause some seriosu canon and worldbuilding problems.  So yeah, that basically was their version of Christmas, much like Nightmare Night and Hearts and Hooves Day are Halloween and Valentine's day, respectively.

I totally forgot about that!! I made some researches:

You're right, thanks! I hope there will be more Hearth Warming episodes then. :)

And I'm not disappointed they didn't call it Christmas. But yeah, that's why I couldn't find it.

Although this specifically wouldn't happen because it's been proven time and again that the sun and moon won't change position without someone to do it. At least not properly.
