  1. Really now? Do tell us, TheMarkz0ne, how the movie fails to accomplish what it set out to do, what happens, and a thorough believable reason why this movie will 'fail'. Because I don't think you're anything but full of hot air and bias.
  2. Boy...here's everybody talking about how cool it would be this and that and yadda yadda.. ..and all I can think about is how damn depressed I am -because- they aren't real. Not gonna post a sob story here but the idea of the MLP characters becoming real to touch, to talk to, to hang out with, to just do stuff with makes my heart ache and I know I'm not the only one.
  3. Let me put it this way... I was into Naruto (the anime/manga) since before it ever got dubbed and licensed over here in the states. I was a consistent fan with being up-to-date with the manga's story (I had a few movies and up to 30-ish manga volumes) online up until chapter 600. Prior to that point I felt the story had been going COMPLETELY bonkers and terrible, but once I hit chapter 600 I just walked away from my computer and said "That's it. I'm done." and cut all ties with Naruto. Not ONLY did I do this, but one of my friends who has a son who's into Naruto (and needed some reading material to help him read) I just flat out gave all of my Naruto merchandise to him. I figured if I couldn't enjoy the series anymore because of how horribly soiled it was now to me, I'd at least give it to someone else who can probably love it more than I did. I doubt MLP is going to ever get that terrible, and Equestria Girls is -far- from the hellspawn ponypocalypse that so many people are needlessly whining about. I basically don't think I'm ever going to leave the fandom because my connection with everything (the show, the fan content, and the community) is far too strong for me to ever WANT to leave.
  4. Aww...that's a shame. The girls I talk to always are pretty cool to just wax about MLP or the fact I'm giving them my money for their merchandise in the first place: not once do I ever get odd eyes or glances or anything...and I've gone to roughly 2-3 local Hot Topics and walked out each time with something MLP-related. Trust me...I was surprised by the can. I took a swig of it with my friend who wanted to give it a go as well since I was treating him for a free drink...and after my first taste I just went "Holy crap I'm going to feel bad once this is gone because it TASTES SO GOOD". I'm not even much into cherry soda: it's not a flavor I go out of my way to buy 12 packs of at grocery stores...but DAMN. I wish that RD soda was in bulk. The worst part was yesterday (this is when my situation happened: the one I described in the OP) when I was looking through I saw a Vinyl Scratch t-shirt. I don't have any with her, and she's my favorite next to RD. I looked at the price tag and just whimpered. "Vinyl as MUCH AS I LOVE YOU I just..I can't. Not today. ;_;"
  5. It is indeed interesting...isn't it? It's almost...MAGICAL, huh? Visual puns aside, I've heard people becoming fans for even more minute things than just music.
  6. You think that? Because honestly I think it would've done a lot more good. I know though, they did it for reactions I'm just...completely at a loss of figuring out otherwise. I dunno...I tend to think more logically on this sort of thing rather than "huehuehue that's the joke!" sort of way.
  7. Me: "I have a slim paycheck so I'm only going to spend what I need to save for Bronycon and my necessities after this. Until the movie starts later though, let's kill time." *goes into mall to kill time for a movie, which was Iron Man 3" Friend: "What're we going to do for an hour though?" Me: "Meh.........I don't know. Walk around. Get something cheap.......or maybe go to Hot Topic. Let's see what Pony stuff they have. I'm not going to buy anything though." >>>>8 minutes later>>>>>> Me: *walks out with MLP Comic Issue #4 and Vinyl Scratch sticker, friend walks out with Luna sticker and Fluttershy keychain* Friend: *sees me sulking* "You okay?" Me: "I told myself I'd only buy my own necessities and our movie food." >>>>5 minutes later>>>> Me: *ends up walking out having bought 2 Rainbow Dash sodas from Spencers....which are damn delicious btw* Friend: "I thought you weren't going to be splurging today" Me: "I CAN'T HELP IT! " Anyone else have this problem? lol. I don't regret it, but I now figure if I'm out and about I'm NOT to walk in either store because I know I'll impulse-buy something MLP related.
  8. Without a doubt in my mind I'd pick The Great and Powerful Trixie. .......wait, does she even count? She turned over a new leaf at the end of her 2nd bout with everyone. PS: OP I think the word you're looking for is 'antagonist' because we've only had 3 villains but a lot of antagonists in the series.
  9. I know the video is old and I of course have seen it AS WELL as the follow-up.. ...but were they trolling or something? Why show them only the theme song? What the hell are they accomplishing by doing that?
  10. You should've done reverse psychology and told your friend to tell their friends and so forth to stay off of /mlp/ and see then how things turn out. I kid. I'm not that evil. ...OR AM I?!
  11. >use my iPhone to figure how far away the theater is from me in Virginia >88 miles ...so roughly an hour-ish. Oh yeah, I'm going to make this trip. Probably alone, but it's worth it. Insert ponified LET'S DO DIS image here.
  12. *inhales* Okay Haru, take a deep breath...not your fault more and more people aren't getting it....*exhales* This is literally the ONE 'opinion' where someone got offended and shoved their thoughts in everyone's faces whether we wanted it or not because of not only how ridiculous they worded said opinion (because Yamino DID comment about the episode) and is one of the very reasons Derpy is now forever changed PERMANENTLY. Put yourself in the shoes of someone living in the early 90s: have you seen cartoons from that era? They were pretty bold! Watch Animaniacs! There's some jokes in there that I'm surprised got past the censors...but what if a company was like "Oh no man we have to change it because REASONS" and they go back and change the entire punchline? Our childhood would have been a mess if all cartoons back in the day were treated like this...especially even racier ones like the old Warner Bros. animations. In this politically correct WRECK of a country where one person can ruin a character's original meaning and value in the show, yeah I think those of us originally that loved her for what she was before someone came along to literally try and ruin it is ENOUGH reason to be defensive about it. The best part about us, the Bronies, is that we were open to pretty much everything and anything from the start and somehow by Magic (yes I'm using this as a reason) some of us got a bit more open-minded about a lot of things. Then someone comes along TWO SEASONS LATE and complains about one of the most insignificant animated bits of the series that lasts barely a few minutes. Holy shit...all of this right here? Well worded. *brohoofs and claps* I might screencap this for later for some reason. I dunno. Points to you. Or in this case, muffins.
  13. I'd argue Friendship is Witchcraft is more of the Adult Swim-vibe because of all of the parodies it does within itself and how self-aware it is of its jokes. When I saw that the Season 2 finale started with Twilight singing about Shining Armor in a completely different manner than before, I almost choked on my spit laughing because it's an obvious joke but played very well and with the punchline being the other ponies basically going "Holy shit what is your deal, girl :O" I felt that it was something ripped straight from say, Robot Chicken. The stuff of HDD I feel is more akin to SomethingAwful or Newgrounds rather than something more like FiW.
  14. Yes, every single fandom has a vocal minority but this literally is the one thing that the fans helped bring out and that even less fans ruined for everybody else. It is THE example of "well if I'm going down I'm taking you with me" in an action displayed by what happened. People dismissing this whole thing as "hurr it's only because people aren't tolerant to Yamino's opinion" make me feel like they're missing the point entirely.
  15. Derpy is truly best pony and I love her to pieces..........not as much though as Vinyl Scratch or Rainbow Dash. But still, I love her. She's cute, always happy...and yeah. :3 I love her.
  16. She is the single loud, possible reason that Derpy was ever in jeopardy of changing/being changed/being removed despite what the PR will tell us. What IS told to us is that when that episode aired they received loads (around hundreds) of positive e-mails but very very few negative ones...and it's BECAUSE of those negative e-mails that they now have to refer to Derpy as "Other Pony", "Best Pony", "That One Pony", and "Special Pony" whenever she's brought up in merchandise or official sales. So you know what? With the way how Yamino not only handled Derpy being revealed, but how the fans didn't like her being loud about it: this is the ONLY time I say she deserves it. I honestly could not care less or could even be bothered to practice "love and tolerance" because she didn't do it in the first place. I feel she took the biggest, worst step in thinking Derpy was in any way a representation (or apprehensible even) about retarded or mentally handicapped people. You have TWO SEASONS up to this episode's debut to have complained about the Looney Tunes-esque slapstick or possible other tropes you could have picked up....but no: the one thing she chose was Derpy and because of that *BAM* Derpy is now no more as appreciated in the show anymore. And I have refused to step down from this opinion since the incident happened.
  17. To be frank I honestly cannot stand Hotdiggedydemon at all. I snorted just a tad on the first one he made when it was Applejack eating apples to the point of choking or having some weird existential...but the sudden "lolsorandomXD" humor fit with cursing to try to be edgy threw off the feeling of parody for me way too much to get any enjoyment out of it. That's not to mention the "I'm trying to be like John Kricfalusi but not really." throwing me off either, but if I wanted a sort of older-audience/young adult type of humor tailored to me without making me feel dirty or weird, I'd just watch Friendship is Witchcraft With Hotdiggedydemon I feel he's just...trying -way- too hard, and honestly has almost ruined my mood sometimes. I'll be looking for honest-to-God good artwork or discussions then *BAM* some retarded thumbnail or fanart of psycho Fluttershy or "Hurr RD called Pinkie Pie a cunt" shows up and I have to 360' moonwalk my way away from it. Don't feel bad, as you can tell I feel the exact same way and the way you articulated yourself about the humor in these videos is -exactly- how I perceive them. That being said, I don't think that just because Hotdiggedydemon made them that he should have a crutch for criticism.
  18. Pretty much all of the reasons listed here are -exactly- why I love her. She's so bubbly and always happy and smiling and....yeah...:3
  19. Stealing a post from someone else who said the exact same thing: It's The Internet. So....yeah. Not exactly sure what to tell you OP.
  20. Uhhh... No, guys. No. We are NOT the only fandom that think this, and I doubt we are the closest one to being a Fight Club. ....or maybe we are. I don't know.
  21. Watching a new episode that released the day it comes out, and then talking about it with others. This is basically my favorite thing to do: everything else comes second.
  22. Derpius is extremely judgmental of porn in general so it appears because he/she posted nearly the same thing in another thread and got blasted for it for the way how they phrase it. I don't expect your logic to work well, but I'm thankful you stood up. There are people that defend the FlimFlam brothers? Really? These seem like the type of guys that buy games from EA day one, all DLC included.
  23. I've had nothing but positive Brony experiences in public but only a few come to mind when it comes to being a Brony in general. I staffed Nekocon last year (anime convention in Hampton Roads, VA) and was part of the AMV Contest squad where I handed out ballots for people to vote for their fan favorite video. I wore (along with my con staff badge) several Rainbow Dash artist alley buttons, a Rainbow Dash wool cap, 2 Brony badges, a Brony lanyard, and a Rainbow Dash badge. Roughly 50 minutes into the showing a little girl and her parents were going towards the entrance to see what was going on in the Main Events and she saw all of my MLP stuff I was wearing and said "That's real awesome!" with a wide smile and pointed to everything I was wearing. It made me smile. I've also bumped into several Bronies at conventions and had a load of fun talking to them...and......I know that's vague but I can't remember anything else. Usually my experiences are at conventions or local meet-ups and those are by default good-natured.
  24. I don't like focusing on "oh this person does this and this and they're ruining MLP for me" because that's just...backwards thinking and too easy for more judgmental people to comment on. There are things though that make me roll my eyes and I try ignoring because it's been stretched too far into the 'public' Brony eye where I see it too much. - "Milky". Seriously wtf is this? Why is this a thing? - Any and all ridiculous, obsessive attachments to tiny insignificant things in episodes. (Examples: Lyra sitting upright which gets fan interpreted she's obsessed with humans and wants to be one, Dr.Whooves becoming a 'thing' because of background pony appearance #2958 and a cutie mark of an hour glass, one single frame or two where Derpy enjoys a muffin which seems to = she's only into muffins, CMC "Bad Seed" song milkshake thing) The only part of this where I don't mind is Vinyl Scratch and all associations with all types of EDM, dubstep, eurobeat, etc because well...that's an obvious match for her. - Any and all fandom twisting of characters where they are not only completely out of character but only fulfilling a tiny SUPER NICHE of a thought process that the fandom has because of one thing in the show taken out of context/stretched to the absolute limit. (Examples: Pinkie Pie being a murderer akin to Jason Vorhees and such, creepy pasta being made for her) Anything else *like the people into Rule 34 or people becomin so attached they 'marry' a character* don't bug me, because I've already encountered these kinds of people in practically every other large fandom that exist and to waste energy ousting these repeat occurrences/cliches would be a bit ridiculous to me.
  25. Twilight Breeze? ..............I like that. Yeah, I can go with that. ...although that will go against whatever cutie mark I could possibly have since I think it'd have something to do with writing.
