    You might try a program called MyPaint. It's very easy to use, and it emulates pencils and other traditional mediums quite nicely.

    You don't have to write a fanfic or make a youtube video. As you said it's a tribute, which means that if you like a certain fic or video, you make a drawing based on it.

    How could you forget about Mr. Toots the unicorn gun?! This is THE most badass weapon the mankind has ever witnessed. I'd also like to have Clementine, the guitar from Brutal Legend. It shoots lightning bolts at your enemies while you play it. How cool is that?

    Today I wanted to see what happens when I draw realy quickly. This happened: It's absolutely awful. EDIT: I added some shading: I'm guessing that some alicorn (not Twi) is going to be next.

    Dang, I'm late again. I had no idea what to do with Pinkie's mane and how to shade their legs in the back. I might try and add some shading later... I absolutely failed Pinkie's eyes. One is much bigger than the other ;p

    I decided to experiment some more with ink. Pinkie was my victim. Those shaded (or whatever it's called) legs look very weird... I must say I enjoy working with ink. I'm gonna buy some proper supplies when I come back from my holiday. (Right now I'm using some random pen I found lying around )

    Second attempt at inking. Much better this time. I have never imagined how much you can sweat when doing this sort of thing I decided not to shade it this time because I'm too lazy I didn't want to ruin it. I might change my mind and shade it tomorrow though.

    I was bored and decided to try writing a fanfic. Be warned though, this is my first attempt at writing and English isn't my native language. And it's My Immortal crossover. Don't know what My Immortal is? Theeeere we go.     You can't say that one is better than other, they're just different. Now that's bullshit. I'd say that it's easier to start on electric because strings are thinner, and therefore have less tension what makes them easier to press. I've never heard about strings cutting fingers, but I heard that poorly finished frets can do it. That's totally opposite. Chords are exactly the same unless you use some different tuning. Apparently your friend doesn't know a thing about guitars Don't listen to him. It's up to you. I started on electric. There is absolutely no need to buy an acoustic if you're going to switch to electric anyway. I'd say that electrics are more fun to play.
