Holy crap, Band camp is full of gems waiting to be discovered - I found out about this Chicago-based band (but born and raised in England) called The Unswept; they play pure, British Invasion -style power pop. Currently going through their entire discography (three albums and an EP) and I think I'm in love.

That's not even hipster attitude. That's just ignorance. No, literally, he's IGNORING the truth! Your friend sounds like a real youngster. There's no way he's old enough to have lived through that era of cartoons. I'm not old enough either, but I've clearly done more research on it than he has. Try telling him to look up the first cartoons ever made, then explain why that's so much better than Loony Tunes.
You know, in comics, people talk about periods known as the Golden Age, Silver Age, Bronze Age, etc. Some of those early ages were as corny and wacky as can be. Our beloved superheroes have come a LONG way since then, but no one would ever call those vintage comics a "dark age". Just a different age. The fact that people still liked those comics, those characters, and carried that popularity on throughout the generations really speaks volumes!

@SpookyEmerald @Kyoshi I'm more of a "lore and setting" sort than a "mechanics" sort when it comes to roleplaying (hence why I wouldn't be DM - I wanna participate more directly in the setting).
I mean, just check out some of the lore for both Warhammer Fantasy and 40k. I wouldn't necessarily say either are "gory" (as in there's an emphasis on blood and guts - but this depends on the individual interpretation), but respectively being dark fantasy and dark science fiction/fantasy, neither are exactly...free of violence.

Thanks for the suggestion, my friend!
I'll need to give it a try some time soon! I'll have to find the right time for it, though – trying something at a time when I'm not completely motivated just seems to put me off things. And I know it'll take a lot of practice and attempts to get something done.
At any rate, it's something I really want to do – it would be so amazing to create an actual song instead of just having an idea!

Well I have absolutely no idea what happened. But the song was Don’t Worry Baby by The Beach Boys when I first looked at this update. That’s the song I was referring to when I said “great song”. 
And to be honest, I doubt even they could have done that as their first attempt.
